Thanks for taking us along. Kevin, my husband and I have camped at the Sleeping Giant for about 15 years and we have never had a problem with people being disrespectful or obnoxious like what you and Christine experienced. It is upsetting that you two had that happened when you came all the way up here to showcase these provincial parks. The staff usually patrol throughout the day to make sure that kind of behavior doesn't happen. They are many scenic trails that are worth coming to see. --MARLYS

Great to see you both make this trip. We travel with a small camping trailer and love being in the North. We book sites as soon as they be ome available on line, so 5 months in advance, we are staying in Fushimi tonight. Quiet, so far but it is a Friday night. I think Christine could teach you to enjoy seeing our beautiful province while staying at Provincial Parks. There is so much to explore. There are disrespectful people to deal with occasionally but we find it worth the risk and read reviews as Christine does.

Thanks Kevin and Kristine. I did a crosscountry trip in 2016 from Sudbury area to Vancouver Island and explored many of the parks you did. Really enjoyed Rainbow Falls. Had to deliver my daughter and son in law's 2nd anniversary gift. A 60 year old Cedar and Canvas Langford Prospector.Thanks for taking us along for this adventure.

Loved your northern tour. You are so right to verbalize the issue with the parks supply of firewood. We have the same issue at every park we have been too!!

One essential piece of kit for car camping are ear plugs. They can even help with wilderness camping if you happen to camp near a Whippoorwill. Thanks for taking us along on your road trip. We really miss Lake Superior this summer.
lol lots of driving and less reading lol most people have no idea the distance you had to travel; but some of the greatest scenery in the world. I also like your thoughts of "Quiet" great point. from kettle lakes to sleeping giant 8:45 you must be going fast lol ah yea forgot the rd construction last summer lol after whiteriver you showed Kama Hill right where our camp is; thanks; lol little cool on lake Superior; Ranger Lake Rd?? lol it was 1 of the parks that the govt was going to shutdown; Ivanhoe at Foleyet was in the same situation; I believe there were 10 parks that locals had to step up to save; great video guys; sorry for the running commentary

Fantastic road trip you guys, I know it's difficult to travel with a dog, we have a pug and she loves to go. We use the coffee trays to help cut down the bugs they work great. It was fun travelling with you guys. Safe travels!!

Loved the video Kevin! What a fun trip! I've been to two of these parks so far, Kettle Lakes and Marten River, but not the rest yet. Fun fact: my cousin used to work with Shania Twain when she worked at Deerhurst Resort years ago. Add Samuel de Champlain to your list next time, I recommend site 173 or 130.
Love your videos! Advice for your back....when sitting anywhere, but especially your car...use a cushion to raise your hips so they are level with your knees. Bucket seats are horrible for your spine. Using a rolled up towel as a lumbar support in the middle of your back also will help. Good luck. Happy travels.

11:00. Great points! We did LSPP a few weeks ago; some backcountry and some car camping. Always backcountry rather than CC.
I have back problems as well and I try and do as much stretching as I can. Some days it helps some days not as much. I feel your pain. Btw I agree about the wood. It’s terrible at most Provincial Parks. And the price we pay it shouldn’t be wet or half rotten. Thanks for sharing. Take care and stay safe.

Hint: use your car floor mat, in front of your tent, to wipe your feet, helps keep sand etc out of your tent.

Dang, when we were there last in 2018, they did not yet have a sticker. So back to them we will come, just for a sticker, and the great camping spot.
For you back,get a cushion made by Purple,they make mattresses too.its silicone,I have one and it helps alot to sit comfotably

Great trip. We saw you guys at Neys. We were the other Aliner in area 3. We did five parks in a two week trip and couldn't agree more about the firewood. Another rant could be people bathing in the lake with detergents. Really impressed with Neys. A well managed park.

Yes Kevin tha k you for mentioning the wet wood at provincial parks. People spend a lot or money to go camping, plan, take time off work to just sit at a nice camp fire with the wife and kids. But instead chopping wood down to toothpick size just so it burns. Fyi we stayed at the exact site at agawa bay as you in mid july.
There is a heat reaction between alcohol and water. It causes ice to melt faster than it would by itself.
oh and i dehydrate limes too lol

Hey Kevin, I got a lot of the same gripes with Ontario parks as of late. Sadly I think alot of it has to do with cutting the budgets.
Definitely need more wardens unfortunately, as my generation seems to be unable to adhere to the honor system.
They truly need to enforce the rules and issue fines and/or boot the offenders out of the park. Especially the ones that are damaging the environment. Went to a park north west of Sudbury and someone used a chainsaw to cut a trail to the lake from his site. Ranger heard it too late as the damage had been done - she didn't fine him and didn't kick him out of the park.
Sleeping Giant used to be one of my favourite parks but I had an incident with an inconsiderate person, reported it to the Ranger and have never been back. I no longer stay at Provincial Parks and boondock instead - much better way to camp. BTW, I've been to each of those parks in this video. Kettle Lakes is prime for blue berries in September. Thank you for the video Kevin and Kristine. The scenery along Highway 17 along the Lake Superior shore makes me homesick. I've been making the two-day drive from Ottawa to Thunder Bay - Nipigon every summer for the past couple of decades to check on how my Mom is doing and check out Northwestern Ontario. Maybe not this summer though due to COVID, but this video of your trip has inspired me to maybe squeak in an up-and-back trip for a quick socially distanced visit.

Who is the singer on the lake scene with the canoe when you are in superior?
Been to Mississagi a couple of times. Since the city of Elliot Lake has taken it over, the rules are a little slack. I think people from the city get special priviledges. Nice park though. Very quiet.

There are some beautiful hikes ans some amazing fishing up in Mississagi to bad its run buy the town of Elliot lake because the parks were going to close it. There are many sights that are seasonal and people think they can cut trees and make it there own. There are a few sights that have been stripped sight wide all the way to the water.
interested in your tarp. how big is it? where did you get it? how long do they last? we use the tarps from the TSC stores and would like to get a light weight tarp for a change. thank you.

Kinda depressing to think of the famous wilderness canoer Kevin Callan car camping and putting up with noisy neighbours , beat down campsites etc. What's next a winnebago road trip? Hope that back gets better !
it is interesting how the parks have gone down hill over the years. The last 2 years have suck, I'm at the point now that I don't enjoy camping any more, the noise, the radios and the drunks have taken over. The parks need to have a total ban on radios, the park wardens need to be proactive not reactive to a complaint, if you can get one.
Ha ... radio-free campgrounds are just as noisy with people drinking and yelling throughout the night to compensate for no music. I literally issued a complaint about neighbours that kept me awake and demanded my money back (which they did) but no
ranger put a stop to their partying. Boondocking on crown land is far, far better than going to Provincial Parks.
Well, Kristine, Kevin is right. We traveled from Alberta last year, and used Neys, Lake Superior Rabbit Lake, Halfway Lake, and Blue Lake, and the parks were gorgeous, but, and I mean BUT! the wood at every park was unseasoned, wet, and hard to burn. Are they not trained park personnel with knowledge of the difference between dead wood and green wood for burning? And we pay for that wood. Shame on Ontario Parks. Dry your wood before selling it for campfires!

I think my wife and I were at missasaugi at the same time as you guys, as I saw that group.... As I was at site #10 Not impressed with them, and the park was not really up to the standards I've grown to expect from Ontario parks.
If I might make one suggestion, please try to balance the volume level of the background music with your narration. I kept turning up the volume so I could hear you speaking and then have to scramble to turn down the blaring music
I totally agree. I'm working on improving my audio editing with the two cameras. I hope it's better next time.

I had an Aliner from 2006 until 2013 - travelled across the country 3 x using it without problems. Which model did you own?
I do not like provincial parks either. People packed like sardines, loud and expensive.
Kevin, did you really do 3300 km? That is like driving to Florida and half way back. How is it even physically possible?
Ontario is a big province. It takes a couple of days to drive across the north end of it.
