The handling is amazing (I've owned two NB & one NC MX5s so I know handling ;) ) but more importantly for me is that for an electric car it is quite light. Translation: It's lightness = not needing to buy a new set of tires anytime soon = not polluting as much via tire wear nor beating up roads. This is important to think about. If you do not need a long hauler and you care about the environment & your road surfaces, this is car, this is the car for you. Did I mention it's a blast to own and drive. Think theme park ride meets smart phone!

It’s an interesting proposition B U T you may have noticed that the Mini brand has (deep breath -prepare for outraged responses) gained a lot of kilos and space recently. The name doesn’t really fit anymore. It’s sort of mid chunky size ( not that there’s anything wrong with that!) except of course IF you call yourself something you clearly are not.
Going electric may not be as important as gaining so much size and still claiming to be a “Mini”
My question would really be is it a great car to drive? BUT that may become utterly irrelevant if it has an above average price and a tiny battery. The main point of the original Mini was value for money and the Cooper variant adding performance to that. Does this justify the price tag? Only if you are already a Mini fan, I suspect. The interior design and finish looks fantastic but this car would never win any endurance races like the original Mini Coppers did with a battery that tiny.

Actually I use mine to commute to/from work 90+ miles a day and drop my son to/from school. Essentially it does everything necessary on a day to day basis including getting groceries. A perfect city car.
