The theory of multiple intelligences proposes the differentiation of human intelligence into specific modalities of intelligence, rather than defining intelligence as a single, general ability. The theory has been criticized by mainstream psychology for its lack of empirical evidence, and its dependence on subjective judgement.

In January 2016,Howard Gardner mentioned in an interview with BigThink that he is considering adding the teaching-pedagogical intelligence "which allows us to be able to teach successfully to other people". In the same interview, he explicitly refused some other suggested intelligences like humour, cooking and sexual intelligence. Professor Nan B. Adams argues that based on Gardner's definition of multiple intelligences, digital intelligence - a meta-intelligence composed of many other identified intelligences and stemmed from human interactions with digital computers - now exists.

අපේ පාසලේ නම් දරුවන්ගේ මානසික සුවය ගැන හොයන කවුරුත් නෑ ඒ දරුවන්ට පීඩනය විතරයි .අපි කොහොමද පාසලේ දේවල් වලට කතා කරන්නේ 1 -11 පන්ති දෙකට කඩනවා ලමා දිනය සැමරුව මේ දරුවන්ට කිසිදු සතුටක් නෑ හැබැයි ගුරුවරුන් නම් හොඳින් සතුටු උනා මේ පාසල් දරුවන්ට වෙන අසාධාරණයන් වලට කතා කලහම ගුරුවරුන් ඉන්නවා දෙමාපියන් හා දරුවන්ගෙන් පලිගැනීම් සිදුකරන😢
