- This is a behind the scenes diary of us building an app product to make money with it. I’m hoping to document all the roadblocks, decisions and lessons learned along the way.
Here’s the fourth vlog entry dated November 3rd, 2023.
In this entry, I show:
V2 of the app design in Figma
Some technical proof of concepts for components of the app
It’s unscripted and raw so I apologize if it’s a bit rambly and not up to our usual production standards but it reflects my real unfiltered thoughts and experiences.
I hope you find some value in watching this!

Keep it up Chris. I'm particularly enjoying hearing about your decision reasoning on things like when to ask for notification permissions etc.
Really enjoying this series. I've been working on an app idea for a very long time and can fully relate to the waxing and waning of motivation and drive for a project
Love this series! I always look forward to the next vlog. I am doing my first App after the iOS foundations course (which was brilliant by the way). The app is supposed to support my teaching, but I keep getting delayed by having to do the teaching itself! Chris your comments about getting distracted and losing momentum were very familiar. Stay on track!
Hello
We're thrilled to hear that you're enjoying the series. It's fantastic that you're applying what you've learned from the iOS foundations course to create an app that supports your teaching. Balancing app development with your teaching responsibilities can indeed be challenging, but it's a testament to your dedication.
keep up the great work and stay focused on your goals. We can't wait to see what you create!

How sad. All of these dark design patterns are annoying to me. Apps that request a review right after I download them, never get one from me, or get a much lower rating as I immediately enter “critique mode”. Also paywalls after initial setup make me insta-uninstall. Who enjoys wasting 5-10 mins filling up a questionnaire only to be greeted by a paywall.
Interesting video.
This is why I find Steve P. Young's insights so interesting -- sometimes his findings go directly against your expectations
Hi, we are developing an app with in-app purchases. The app's products allow for immediate payment and use. However, the app store allows refunds, so there is a situation where the user has used all the services and still receives a refund. How can we solve this problem, please?
I got an old MacBook that runs iOS simulator, is it possible to run xcode on my M1 and run iOS app on the old MacBook?
Hello,
It is possible to run Xcode on a M Series machine but I'm not sure if it's possible your app on your old machine. I'm sorry.

Hi! Thanks for reaching out! I've communicated your concern to Chris and he should be able to check it soon! - Iñaki
Hello Chris,
Do you accept private projects requests?
if so please I need to contact you to discuss a project of mine.
Hello,
Currently, no. I'm not sure if in the future we will have this option, our focus for now is to support our students and update our library of courses. But we appreciate considering us for your project, thank you! :)
