Here's the full playlist detailing the restoration work I did to this lovely Honda CB750 K0 in candy blue green: • 1970 Honda CB750 K0 Re...
We decided to restore one of the superbikes from the 70’s that Old Spanner had never owned, a Honda CB750 K. After some research we found that most of the Honda CB750 K series are very similar, and over half a million of them were produced over around 10 years. So we thought it shouldn’t be too hard to find one. Having discussed it we decided that I should look for a K0 preferably a Sandcast, but not essentially. The reason we decided upon the K0 model was so that when the day came to let it go, we would get the best price for it. As the number following the K gets bigger the value of the bikes gets lower, with the K7s and 8’s despite being technically the best models, also being the cheapest.
Unfortunately, this price differential is also reflected in the project bike prices, with a project K0 costing more than a pretty good condition K7. And if it is a Sandcast (basically the same bike but with the engine cases made using a simpler casting method) then add an additional £8k to the price.
Having looked for a while we spotted one listed by a company in the USA on eBay. I noticed their listings of a variety of interesting bikes on eBay offering free delivery to the UK for a couple of years. But I hadn’t been brave enough to buy one. This one was a K0 diecast that had been chopperised at some time in the past. A non-runner with high bars and a king and queen seat. There was also a box of some of the harder-to-find parts, air filters, badges etc. The bike was on bidding, but the starting price looked attractive, and as it stood the bike was unattractive enough to hopefully repel other bidders.
Well, we won the bidding on the bike, and after only 8 weeks it arrived in the UK from the States. I think we even got it at a very good price. This video is a compilation from our playlist of videos showing the things we did with it to get it into what I would say is a very nice state. Unfortunately, another project popped up that caught my eye, so I let it go before I had finalised the restoration. The main stumbling block was the 4-into-4 exhausts that the K series came with. Good repro versions cost nearly as much as the bike originally cost us, and most of the used ones that came up looked like scrap, but expensive scrap!
The chap who bought the bike was really pleased, he added it to his collection of all of the different K’s having put on a set of exhausts that he had been hoarding. He must have felt he got a good deal, as he contacts me every few months asking if I had found and restored any other bikes he may be interested in 🙂
Anyway if you enjoy this video, why not watch the playlist, you should find the things we did quite entertaining.

i had a 74 gold, I had the 4 into one pipe, they sound fantastic, the paint and stripes look great.
The 4 into 1 Delkevic sounds great to me too. The pipe I have on my Cafe Racer that I am working on at the moment may be a little too loud though :)
Love the CB750. Such a great bike and enjoyed watching you bring one back to full glory. Cheers from across the pond in the states!
Glad you enjoyed it. I really enjoy working on old bikes, bringing them back from the edge of oblivion :)
Thanks for all your videos on CB750's I brought a CB750f Super Sport and have found all your videos such a great help.
Thank's for the comment. I'm glad you have found the videos helpful. CB's are great bikes.
Wow...what a fab restoration of such a 70s Honda CB 750
Classic looks, Retro feel.
Love it..❤
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! Turned out to be a really lovely bike.
Really cool transformation and what a lot of work!
Thanks. The satisfaction of resurection of bikes like this is phenomenal, makes the work all worthwhile.
Great looking bike, what a transformation, those tank decals were good investment, didn't look quite finished without them. Looking forward to watching what you get up to in 2023. Best wishes for the new year..
Thanks for your comments. I was really pleased with how the stripe and fianl clear coat came out. I am really looking forward to painting my Cafe Racer project, I already have a good idea of the main colour I am going to use, but the details will make all of the difference. Best wishes to you for the New Year.
Hi another cracking video. I have just finished doing a K1. Parts are so expensive. An exhaust now costs around £1850. A total rip off. The price doubled overnight. I don't think I will be doing another one due to the price of the parts. Happy new Year pal
Thanks Cody. Parts for these old bikes are still a lot cheaper than for new stuff. I think it is the 90s and Naughties (no pun intended) that will be the next bargains. Happy New Year to you too!
BLOODY BEAUDY BLOKE !
Love it! Thanks.
Nice. Had a 69 Sandcast. What u did was a “refirb” not rebuild. I’m rebuilding a 75 F0. Everything new which pays you back with the new bike feel and performance.
I would love to get a Sandcast but the price of them has gone insane. Good luck with you FO build.
Gas tank is missing the golden stripes!
Wait til the end! 😆
I was too fast, the stripes come at the end, well done!
Haha thank you!
She’s a stunner, looks awesome 🤩
Thanks, I was really pleased at the way the paint worked out.

I’m a spray painter by trade and I think you done a pretty good job 👍
@@mikeymike3240 Thats really encouraging feedback from a real painter, cheers mate 😁
Hey what a great video! Can’t wait to watch all of them. I am considering buying a bit of a project, 1970 CB 750. So your videos will be very helpful! She is candy apple gold and mostly complete, has not ran in 20 years.
I hope they are helpful. There is nothing like the excitement of a "new" project. I am still in love with the K0 I'm sure you will love yours.
Beeeautiful
Thank you! Cheers!
Happy New year.
Happy new year pal! 😁
Pity it doesn’t have those 4 x glorious pipes , it’s what made them.
If only they didn't rot away :) and replacements are so dear!
I can't believe you don't have the lash adjustment tool with the socket and screwdriver in one.
See previous answer. I really do need to sort all my old tools out :)
Loved the video. I noticed you didn’t show if you cleaned and relined the inside of the fuel tank. I’m sure it was rusty on the inside as well after 50 years. Comments?
Glad you enjoyed the video.
If you look at the playlist of videos that I made on this bike,

I derusted the tank in episode 13. I hope that gives you the answer to your questions. I am not a fan of liners, mostly because needing to remove them in previous tanks I've worked on.
Next time I do one I may look at using electrolysis.
Just heard you guys on motorcycles and misfits
I love M&Ms it's a great podcast. Glad you enjoyed the tale of our trip to Southport.
Hi enjoyed your video ,can I ask what size is your compressor for spraying .
Cheers, we use a big 150L compressor made by Wolf Professional. It's a beast for a non-commercial unit, perfect for painting bikes etc. Check it our here, hope that helps: ebay.us/xxiVq8
Enjoyed this video very much what did the bike sell for if you don't mind me asking?
Just under £6k, the new owner had original pipes and seat, I suspect that he added £4k to the value just by fitting them. I think that was before prices peaked, I suspect they are on the way down at the moment. He has been in touch a few times asking if I was doing any more, he has a bit of a collection. I really miss that bike, I really loved the colour, and it came out so well, but I am always looking for the next project.
Not only is this a well crafted restoration its a very well crafted video .Do you film and edit by yourself, or is there another player behind the scenes.?
Cheers pal, that's very kind of you to say. All filmed and edited in-house. Always enjoy learning new skills. 👍
Overall a good job.... but why you didnt paint the front caliper black?
It was on the list, but never got to it. Maybe on the next one :)
Matchbook covers aren't as readily available these days.
Not sure what you mean?
That was the universal point gap gauge
@@hvymax Ahh I see what you mean! 😂 much rarer to come by as you say
modern bikes suck , big time
Ha, give me points and carbs, more breakdowns, but at least you stand a chance of fixing it if it does!!!
