I love that you call Scientology what it is, a cult.
Tell me how L.Ron Hubbard knew what was happening,70,000years ago .That is the beginning of his science fiction story . I mean religion.
Human science is like trying to teach dogs how to make a cake=)
Here's a list of other things you might be surprised to find out are cults: Christianity (and all organized religions), schools and universities, museums, Disney, and the list goes on. Just take a deep look at the definition of Cult. BTW my mother tongue is spanish, so my info might not translate to english perfectly. I'm using the spanish word "secta" ás a synonim.
The only reason $cientology is legally a religion in America is because Hubbard blackmailed The $upreme Court.

He tried to sell his soul to Satan, but “nothing happened, of course.” What an interesting thing to dismiss so easily.
🤔🤣👌 Satan welcomes and readily acts upon anyone who "tries", eh!
Isn't like the big man from below will present to anyone who calls him

@@xavierporter5069 I agree! ... even satan's soul ... ALL souls are of, and created for the pleasure of our Heavenly Father, YAH!
Our Purpose in Life is just to please Him ... as it is written. 🙏
Did "nothing" happen? I believe something happened. Doesn't mean its what Jack thought would happen. How could he know? It was always so much bigger than him.
So this is where Howard Stark was inspired. He and his dad were named MARVEL Parsons!!!
In 1952, Parsons didn’t accidentally kill himself in an explosion. A mysterious assassin called “The Winter Soldier” by the Intelligence Community is believed to have killed him.

The guy who played Howard Stark in the Iron Man & Avengers movies, would have been the perfect choice for the Parsons TV series.

Crowley, L. Ron Hubbard and Jack Parson were friends. Do a vid on that!
Michael Jeck. Other than Hubbard's passing claim in a lecture, is no evidence Crowley and Hubbard met or were friends.
Crowley didn’t like Hubbard at all.
Crowley liked Parsons; warned him against Hubbard.
Imagine being so toxic that Crowley said 'stay away from that man's.
Also, Crowley, like Garrison Keillor, was raised in the Plymouth Brethren sect.
Crowley strongly disliked Hubbard, and Parson was friends with Hubbard till he stole from Parson
Parsons is to be credited for finally abandoned anything to do with black powder as a propellent-- it not only was too volitile, especially being stored for military use as plane launchers, it burned too fast for the desired purpose. It was when Parsons was driving out to Pasadena he saw a road crew working with asphalt, some of it slowly burning, that Parsons realized adding a common oxidizer was the way to go. Parsons got it right on essentially his first try and the basic principle is followed by solid fuel rockets, including the Space Shuttle's boosters.
That said Parsons, by his lab partners witness, was a scary careless technician. There is no mystery to his death, keeping Mercury fulminate in a coffee can, it slipped from his hand and he tried to catch it rather than flinging himself aside. So, Parsons ended looking like that prosthetic dummy in Breaking Bad.
His death is the definition of “making a deal with the devil , it wants something in return” ! Clearly his rituals did work !

That's what I said!!🤘🤘🤘😈😈😈
I love your videos! They're really interesting and makes me feel a bit smarter to know the lives of the people involved in major historical events. Thank you to the Biographics team for sharing this with us all!
This is documentary comedy. Not a great way to be "smart" of historical events as they actually have occurred.
You should mention that there's a song about him from claypool lennon delirium called blood and rockets.
That's why im here
Same!
It came out before the song, unfortunately. Definitely one of my favourite songs and albums of the year, btw!
Great Video!
That song is amazing. ❤️ One of my faves off the album.
Boy can this man make anybody interesting and make you hang onto ever word he says. Keep up the good work sir Simon.
I mean, he’s really good, but Jack Parsons is legit interesting.
Fun Fact: The Babylon Working is a key part of the main character's backstory in British Fantasy writer Simon R. Green's Nightside series. One of the men involved gets the manuscript of the Working and "corrects" what went wrong for Parsons.
What?
You guys should do a segment on Wernher von Braun!
there are already dozens of videos about von braun...
They really dont need a video on Braun.

Your research is profound! Nice work mate. Keep up.

Wonderful video. I've never heard of Jack Parsons before your other video on L. Ron Hubbard, and now I want to write a screenplay on his life! Definitely a fascinating individual.
SICK does not fascinate me at all.
Hello, independent filmmaker here, have you written anything?
And there I was thinking the tv series 'Strange Angel' was just pure fiction!
Nnnnope. Although the bits with the hellhound and Parson's dead father on the moon probably didn't really happen.
I’ll have to check this out, thanks!
@@sithak yeah it's good. Season 1 finished a couple of weeks ago
...instead of "thinking" why don't you try doing some actual research?
They put a lot of truths in their fiction.

Oh man! This was a BRILLIANT video in it's own right.
Not only did you cover the mercurial Jack Parsons life to the letter, you got in L. Ron Hubbard stealing his money AND his sex addicted wife! The post mortem speculation is entirely justified, too. This is your best effort so far. Bravo!
Agreed!!
Thats a nice Documentary, informative & Crisp! Great Job! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Good video mate!
Regarding the FBI spying on him because of his relationship with Crowley, this doesn't come from "a fear of the ocult" from the US, it comes from the fact that Crowley was a spy for the english Crown, and during WW2 when the outcome of things was still uncertain, he would enter erratic behaviors and cut comunication which leads to think he was thinking on switching sides. He was most definately a "double agent" or, to be more acurate, some scared dude trying to make the best of a fucked up situation during fucked up times. DEFINITELY A SMART GUY! If he only knew of STDs
JATO - That stands for JET assisted takeoff, and it uses small jet engines, which use atmospheric oxygen, obtained through an inlet in the front of the engine, to combine with and burn the fuel. Rocket assisted takeoff (RATO) uses rockets that have their oxygen stored aboard the craft. Rockets can go into space where there is no air, but jets have to stay in the atmosphere.
Finally! Thanks Simon.
solid gold thank you guys
Please do Bill Slim, 1st Viscount Slim. The Burma Campaign has always been overlooked when WW2 is mentioned.
Yes. Just got through with his memoir, and in my opinion he was the best British commander of the entire war.
Er, I hate to butt in so early, but the Wright brothers first flew their heavier than air craft, the 'Wright Flyer 1' at Kill Devil Hills, near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, on December 17, 1903, with Orville piloting. The 'Flyer' was severely damaged by a gust of wind later in the day, but they made several flights, the longest being of 200 feet, and at an average speed of 12mph.
Excellent! You did your research 😁
Another great biographics!
Interesting I just watched a video that talks about Jack Parsons on SGT Report. Saying that he took part in opening a portal that fallen angels passed through.

@@omerfawadrauf7369 no problem chief :]
Btw, the JATO unit was quite some inspired concept, giving up black powder, and seeing asphalt burned slowly, Parsons added a purified oxidizer to melted asphalt-- and it worked the FIRST time. Solid fuel boosters essentially follow this same concept.

Excellent. Facts. To the point. And without reading too much into speculation.
Just a note: the Parsonage is no longer in existence. The photo you show at 5.44 is actually the apartment building built on the site in 1953. Most of the mansions on Orange Grove were razed in the 1950s and '60s for upscale condominiums, which are still considered upscale. Where he blew himself up was actually just a few doors down from the Parsonage, in a gatehouse or workshop behind the main house. A swimming pool is now in that spot, attached to another mid-50s condominium.
never heard of this guy before.
Nick: I know right, like Christians don't have controversy and sh*t. Look at the church the last two weeks!
yeah the video was interesting but i have never heard about this before. then again i dont know if Swedish schools would teach us about him.

Is it just me, or does Jack Parsons look kinda like an old fashioned mustache twirling villain?
He reminds me of Tony Stark
I love your voice and vocabulary. You do an incredible job!
Just finished watching the "Strange Angel" series on the Paramount + streaming service and jeeze, as I do some more research, including watching this video, I'm discovering that the series sure does take a lot of "artistic license" in telling Jack Parson's story.
I enjoyed that the series focused not just on all the kinky occult stuff but also on the evolution of his ideas about rocket science. The series is only two seasons long, and the last couple of minutes of the "finale" are about Parsons meeting L. Ron Hubbard. I was wishing there was a season 3, but if the series is 90 percent fiction, I guess it's no real loss.
I am especially disappointed that the way Parson's first wife is presented is apparently made up, because it was interesting to see her evolve into someone more complex and interesting than the "wifey" we're first presented with.
I was also just reading about Parson's second wife, the artist-actress-poet-occultist (and possibly schizophrenic) Marjorie Cameron, but I guess her story is also subject to a lot of speculation, distortion and mythologizing.
There's so much potential in Jack Parson's life story, and it's such an odd story, I don't know why someone would need to add a bunch of made-up stuff to it.
''I don't know why someone would need to add a bunch of made-up stuff to it.''
Hollywood. Reality isn't good enough.
To obscure The Truth.
The show is pretty accurate. Jack's first wife did have an affair with the first Magus, whose name was Wilfred Smith, and had his baby as the show depicts. Jack then took over proceedings at the lodge, true to how the series presents it. I doubt it happened as dramatically as the show depicts, but the overall facts match up.
I'd love a biographics on Lafayette

@Anne Frank wut? That far?
The actual phrase used by Crowley and Parsons was "Do what thou Wilt shall be the whole of the Law. Love is the Law, love under [as the basis of] Will." "Will," in this case, referred to one's True Will, which did not include murder or other crimes, and "Love under Will" meant that True Will's signature was love in some form, from love of humanity to love of given individuals to love of family to sexual love, etc.
Demons tremble at the name of Jesus!
