    Thank you for including the minority point. I didn't like that we learned Caroline and Elenas majors, or how she had an no parents, and when we saw them there was no storyline whereas Elena got two sets of parents with multiple storylines. I think Julie just has a hard time writing characters of color and she lives through the white female lead. Bonnie couldn't attend the mikealson Ball, founders dance, or Ms mystic falls, while everyone else wore stunning outfits she's always MIA. Enzo was a ghost even though she had the same powerset as Cade who allowed people to return from his dimension several times... Julie just didn't like Katt it would seem.

    Love this! I used to love Elena so much, but realized after a while she didn't fight enough. Caroline is much stronger and fights for her life, her friends, and for love. A much better role model to look up to- after she turns of course.

      It would have been better if Elena had moved on from Damon and Stefan and have her own life and be more of the lead heroine in her own story rather than being rescued all the time.

    Also. Damon and many of the vampires had rapist vibes. Its disturbing how Daman use to kiss all on Caroline and have relations with her and wiped her memories and used compulsions. Isnt that kind of assault? Anyone get that vibe. And let's be real. Thes guys are like 100 years old dating a 16 year old high school student. But we cringe today at R.Kelly? Isn't that creepy too?

      This is so true!! i ALWAYS say this to my friends and they make excuses for characters like Damon just because he is handsome and he ALWAYS gets to get away with his twisted ways which is so disgusting. And the funny thing is alot of Tvd fans critizice Twilight and other vampire sagas but if we think about it at least Edward Cullen never hurted Bella fisically or hurted any of her friends and family unlike Damon who literally killed Elenas brother because he was mad his crazy ex didnt love him as much as he thought.

    All POCs other than Bonnie and Tyler were killed within three episodes of their introduction. Off the top of my head. Bonnie's entire family, the black Elijah witches, the witch who helps Klaus in season 2, the hunter guy in season 4,(he was the hunter who had the least amount of screentime), The witch who helped Klaus track down Rebecca's necklace in season 3, Tessa, supposedly the most powerful witch who created the other side died the same episode she was introduced. Jesee, Caroline's love interest for two episodes. Even Bonnie dies.
    Also, I can't even get into the ridiculous behaviour of Bonnie. She brought Jeremy back from the dead yet she couldn't give the same courtesy for her own grandma or father. When Elena was transitioning, she used dark magic to try and stop it but wouldn't do the same for her own mom. When Jeremy died, she was so wrecked she single handedly killed 36 people so to try to bring him back and killed herself in the process. All for a 15 y/o kid who cheated on her the minute his old bae showed up in ghost form.

    I started watching Vampire diaries because I was excited to see a drama where one of the main characters is a black woman. But in the middle of season 2 I stopped watching because Bonnie become more of a sidekick and I felt like her romance with Jeremy was the writer's way of keeping her character relevant and connected to Elena story line. But I loved Bonnie's character in season 6 and 7. Even though, she was there to support Damon, I loved seeing her relationship with Damon evolve and I think they were the best part of season 6. Without Elena, I saw Bonnie's character grow, seeing the negative effects of her time with Kai and how she became a stronger person. Plus, I enjoyed the friendship between Nora and Bonnie in season 7. I was wondering if you would consider doing a video on the lesbian death trope in television such as Lexa in the 100 and Nora and Mary Louise in Vampire diaries? You have plenty of shows to choose from other than the ones I've mentioned.

    A 16 year old mortal girl being damsel in distress when it comes to 500 year old vampires war? She literally tries just to increase her chances to survive. The whole "I hate Helena" situation sounds like a pure misogyny. Both of Salvatore brothers use their physical strength to make her do what they want and call it "protecting their loved ones". Stefan himself was asked by several characters why couldn't he just leave Helena and Mystic Falls and move one. Never did he give an explanation. Those were the relationship where they just manipulate her and play with her feelings. (Gosh, she's a teen And they are OVER A HUNDRED. Both of them could stop it if only they wanted to) She saw her parents' death had to bacome a parent for her brother being still a child herself. She also made it clear that the fact that she was alive after the first car crash was unfair.
    A teenage girl with no family, multiple mental traumas in uneqaual relationship with manipulative adults is creepy just the way it is with no vampirism and those adults being serial killers.

    Ugh... this show and the headaches it gaves me. Tbh I just gave it a try for Nina Dobrev cause I kinda have a crush on her lol, but there's just so little of it for me to consider it a good show, way more less even an example. All those toxic vibes, its way of manipulating the audience and the lack of diversity and understimated lgbt people were alone enough reasons to stop watching. TVD has s huge problem with sexual consent. Just think of all the times women were compelled to have sex with Daemon and other vampires. It starts off by him compelling Caroline, a schoolgirl, to sleep with him, and later, when she remembers it - the show never directly addresses the issue, because it knows that would be a dark fucking conversation.

      @SlayingSin Před 2 lety +1

      @@Ariii443 I think people who view the show as racist because they didn't think Bonnie had enough screen time would never be satisfied. To me personally, Bonnie was the MOST IMPORTANT character in the series because of her actions, and without her everyone would've died. Now that may be bad writing since she was the super powerful witch loophole one could drawn on when writers can't think of a better way for the main cast to deal with a threat or problem, but I do not think it is racist or has anything to do with Bonnie being black. Naturally, as with most vampire romance dramas meant for teenage girls, the main female lead is stale and 1 dimensional, while supporting characters just sit by cheering them on as important. But any rational observant individual would likely agree that Bonnie was fundamentally the most important character to the series, well that and the Salvatore brothers. Elena in my perspective is not really the main female protagonist, that goes to Bonnie.
      But as an opinion, I personally I like Caroline since I have a thing for badass blondes who have character to them other than the over portrayed "I'm different and special" female leads in media. Also, possibly controversial, I think Marcel and Hope Mikaelson are the best characters in the franchise. Although I admit Hope's representation as a strong female is a bit overplayed at times and a bit cheesy, but that is mostly due to the franchise always having some weird woke politics integrated into its writing. The actor of Hope plays her very well though and makes her pretty believable and makes you want to root for her.
      When it comes to Marcel, he was a badass comparable to Elijah, and while I like Elijah, Marcel simply beats him in terms of character development and how he impacted the story, especially in later seasons.
