You might think of GoPro as that amazing brand that pioneered the action camera market, I mean I know I did, but the truth is over the last 8 years the company's share price has absolutely tanked.
Investors have lost billions. Shares once valued at a peak of $98 are now trading close to $5.

- competition is catching up fast or in some cases have caught up
- competitors undercutting gopro with more affordable prices
- gopro's overheating and freezing issues, it seems hero 12 solves these
- gopro had a period of time where they became too lax barely any worthwhile upgrades that are worth the price
- more people keeping their older gopros and not upgrading to the newer units, hence sales aren't booming
- failed venture on drones and DJI kicking their butts
- gopro went public and splurged too much
- hubris

I have to wonder if they've flooded their own market a bit too? I just bought a Hero8 which is several models old by now and it has all the features I could need with a $30 256GB SD card. I'm not sure what more innovations/upgrades they can make to incentivize buying a newer model.

Considering this video is a year old when i found it the share price continues to fall, now at $1.70 a all time low. I've had many GoPros the best in my mind was the Hero3. But what I found was as they released new models with better specs the reliability of the camera becomes a huge issue. Lost count of the total freezes and clumsy menu hunting. Yet there were plenty of CZcams tech reviews not pointing out these cameras had major issues. I dare say the 'paid promotion' had them sticking to the script of only good news.

I personally don't trust gopro anymore, I rather the competition.
Would be cool if they got back into drones. Maybe a basic drone with a built in gopro camera system to compete with DJI.
Anyone looking to short when the new camera is released this fall? Forcing others into a subscription model doesn't last.

I love my gopro 8. However, go pro have a design problem. Content creators now understand that audio is just as important as picture - but to get audio, you have to buy the media mod to get the best results. More money. And, the software control on the gopros is simply crap. When you connect to the desktop, it sometimes connects and sometimes does not. Most of the time, transfer of files requires the user to unscrew everything and take away the SD card to then transfer the data to the desktop via another means. Sometimes it turns on, sometimes it does not. When it turns off, how come you come back a day later and what was 100% battery is now 50%? Insta360 does not have these problems. Maybe Insta should buy gopro???

They won’t return! If they are pissing off so many of us loyal customers, they aren’t coming back because I tell you right now I will never buy another GoPro because of the way I have been treated just from there customer service! And the hero 11 mini🤦♂️ fuck me what a piece of rubbish!!
I still use gopro because the dynamic range on them is the best in the industry. However the software is extremely shoddy and I'm disappointed that they just completely dropped the ball. I use it for motorsport videos and it needs no stabilization (turning it on makes it worse) and all I ask for cameras is dynamic range. It's still pretty crappy compared to my cell phone camera or my actual nice cameras but it is what it is.
Now we have dji and Insta360 which are way better 😆

Part of the problem was their venture in to drones, DJI mopped the floor with them, then they decided that Drones was not where they wanted to be, and pushed an update out that BRICKED all the drones.

It comes at absolutely no surprise! Have you bought a hero11, hero11 black mini or hero12!! Those new cameras are total rubbish and they are to expensive!

Go Pro still makes the best action camera. The problem is that the market is saturated with cameras. The brand of GoPro is still worth a lot, as they branch into outdoor products like backpacks and accessories for the cameras. Nick came up with a need that the public wanted and he was rewarded for his creativity. Now he or someone at GoPro needs to come up with a new product that the public will want and doesn't realize it quite yet.
DJI Action 4 is way better than any GoPro

GoPro is done!!! I buy their cameras every two years. They never innovate anymore.
It's kind of ironic how GoPro completely failed to make a good drone while DJI has made GoPro clones that are a lot better than the originals.
DJI uses SONY cameras/lens. GoPro had the chance to partner with them and snubbed them.
Hopefully insta360 or dji could finally put the stake through gopro's chest once and for all. They're more reliable for starter, better value for money given the advantages of basing their company in shenzhen, and are catching up quality-wise very quickly. 😅
