    I love these engines.. You could probably run a few thousand watt generator off this and it would barely notice.

    I started my apprenticeship at Crossley-Premier Engines by preparing a new piston, piston pin and rings for an engine that had been installed in a Derbyshire mine to pump out water 20 years earlier. These were the first spares it had needed.

      ruben: this motor is practical, because it can be made self powering.
      Then you just get it running and power your home, and the hot water can heat your indoor swimming pool, and generate all the power you will ever need.

      @KiwiPowerNZ Před 8 lety +1

      1 ton feet of torque? What a toy. What about a triple expansion steam engine that's 1000HP at 100RPM = 52,000 lb-ft or 26 ton feet or torque.

    • @PaulHigginbothamSr
      @PaulHigginbothamSr Před 7 lety +2

      One ton feet of torque is awesome. It is what hauls our freight every day on the highway in the big rig trucks. That can move America. It is what is needed for getting heavy freight over mountains, and across Ohio, good work. Kiwipwr, is talking about what enslaves us to the man, by making us pay for power from him.

    There is an old Ruston Diesel engine sitting rotting away in a rest area 100 KLS from where I live belongs to the council NOBODY is gonna take it home and renovate it because it weighs all of 25 tonnes I weep every time I call in for a rest stop but that's Ozzis for you not many with brains.

    Are you serious about the 1 litre of fuel per hour to run this beast?
    I have only recently begun to appreciate the old industrial steam and internal combustion engines.
    I realise that a steam engine can be fueled from locally-sourced firewood, and scraps; and often wonder how the engines such as this beauty managed to overtake the steamers.
    Thanks for your video.
    Cheers - Rick from Timaru, New Zealand.

    • @stengine
      @stengine  Před 7 lety +2

      Yes I am sure about 0,95 litre per hour. The engine original turns at 270 rpm, now it is running at 100 rpm. There is no force taken from, it is 0,95 litre to keep it running. 950 cc per hour for 50 combustions time 60 minutes. 950 cc per hour for 3000 combustions an hour, that is aprox. 0,3 cc per combustion.

  • @Kogacarlo
    @Kogacarlo Před 7 lety +2

    Perfect 7/8! Drummers love it. But where is the hot water coming from?

    • @stengine
      @stengine  Před 7 lety +4

      The water is cooling water, it is pumped from a tank through the engine, and falls back into the 800 ltr watertank

    • @Kogacarlo
      @Kogacarlo Před 7 lety +1

      Thank you. Is the heat then radiated in any way, as in a car radiator? Or has the 800 ltr tank enough radiation by itself? And is there a thermostat?

    • @stengine
      @stengine  Před 7 lety +4

      There is no thermostat, just circulation, the 800 liters tank has enough radiation. When I start at 20 degrees C, in the summer with sunshine, it will not rise above 60 degrees C. It takes 2 hours to 50 degrees, and 4 hours to 60. And than it stays 60.When there is no sunshine, the max is 50 degrees C.

    • @stengine
      @stengine  Před 7 lety +3

      First setting the flywheel on time, than lubricate some points, than set the regulator free, and close the injector. Set the half compression on the exhaust, and than start this film, than its complete.

      Hi, I am starting it from stone cold, and it is always starting well. It has a heating point, but I never use it. I think the compressio ratio is very well.
