Bach’s famous cello suites, recorded by cellist and early music specialist Jaap ter Linden. In addition to his increasing number of performances as a conductor, Ter Linden also remains active as an instrumentalist.
Ter Linden has worked together with the creamn of early music specialist such as Andrew Manze, Richard Eggarr, Emma Kirkby and Andreas Staier. For any cellist the suites are an important touchstone. Some careers can even be measured by the recordings of these works. Until the present day they remain the ultimate challenge.
True to his reputation, Ter Linden gives profound interpretations which invite the listener to play these performances time after time again.

One has to watch the movie: "Master and Commander" to see how many months it must have taken for the Master to learn how to play this very music to perfection!

I love this, but there's a clicking throughout the video-at first I thought it was some sort of chat application open on my computer, but finally discovered that the audio of this video contains a constant clicking. Otherwise very beautiful, but finally the clicking has become too much to enjoy music.

Oups ! ça commence très mal ; le prélude est bien trop LENT !
En effet, ce prélude est très lent, mais pas trop. Pour ma part, je trouve que les phrases sont bien articulées entre elles, et, surtout, on n'a pas cette impression de course effrénée laissée par trop de violoncellistes. Le problème de cette suite est qu'elle est bien trop connue. J'ai connu autrefois un violoncelliste amateur qui me disait qu'à son avis, les autres étaient plus gratifiantes à jouer. J'ai une préférence personnelle pour la dernière suite, particulièrement quand elle est jouée sur un violoncelle à 5 cordes.

"Brilliant Classics", there is nothing brilliant about this. The decrepit background decor is a good symbol for the music quality.
