  • It's almost perfect, and with a little extra cost and effort, it can be perfect.
    Its a great combination of all the things I look for an in EDC.

    I think I’m the only person out there who prefers the corkscrew to the Philips. I just got one of those Ruike and it’s the perfect combination of edc knife and multi-tool

      I just never use it for anything, but I use a Philips all the time...

    The most important thing for me, is to have a serrated blade, screwdriver blade, and a bottle opener.

    Very nice. I like the addition of a clip and better knife blade steel. Swiss Army’s metal always felt too soft. It makes it really easy to sharpen but dulls just as quick.

    I bought a Ruike LD51-B because what I really wanted was a 1 handed victorinox workchamp, but they don't make one. My only complaint is that phillips is that weird flattened style that limits it's usefulness. It's chonky and heavy but that doesn't bother me. Victorinox lost another sale because they're more interested in making things like suitcases than evolving their SAKs.

    I like it! Agree that the Phillips is more useful than a corkscrew

      I will be swapping that cork screw out for a Philips tomorrow night, hopefully.

      That all depends where you intend using it and for what purpose. For outdoors in the woods, my contention is that the corkscrew is better, because in it you can install a fireant ferro rod and a tinder curl. Felix Immler (ref) has a video out wherein he lights over 100 fires with the Fireant before it broke. It is not a frivolous toy but a real go-to last resort tool! With decent tinder it could be a life-saver. I have yet to hear about a use for a Philips screwdriver out in the woods.
      Around the house, in the shed, or at work, different story. There the Philips reigns!
      Horses for courses!
      Cheers!

      Thing is that a short Phillips with handle in "T" reach few places.

    The fatal flaw is the whack seatbelt cutter. Other than that, it’s perfect. Not sure it needs a corkscrew. A sak needs one, ruike doesn’t.

    In Germany we say: „One hand opening is forbidden“… 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @SquireSCA
      @SquireSCA  Před 5 měsíci

      I never understand why countries do that. If you are allowed to carry a knife, and everyone should be, its a tool that dates back to the stone age... Why does it matter how it opens, or if it locks? So weird when a government doesn't trust its citizens with basic hand tools...

    is it possible to remove the thumb stud? (for legal reasons)

    • @SquireSCA
      @SquireSCA  Před 2 měsíci

      Yes, you should be able to with the correct Torx bit. I would heat the stud up slightly to soften any lock-tite that they may have in there.

    May I ask you a favour? Since you have the alox there, can you measure if I could replace the reamer from the alox with the weird cutter on ruike? That could make it my perfect tool I think
    It’d be much appreciated (length and width basically).

    • @SquireSCA
      @SquireSCA  Před rokem

      It won't fit. The Ruike is a much bigger knife.

    So did you ever make those modifications and make a video of it

    • @SquireSCA
      @SquireSCA  Před 6 měsíci

      I believe I did. It's an easy swap to just remove the cork screw and install the Philips. Of course, you have to have a second Ruike knife to do this, one that has the Philips took that you need...

    Very nice! I also like non pliers based MT. I have a 111mm Victorinox Outrider that I EDC. I really like having a scissors on me, because I use them all the time. I also like a Phillips screwdriver as well. The Outrider has a small Phillips. If I want the Phillips that is bigger I would need the 111mm Hercules, and that is girthy. The Rangergrip that you have looks cool, but damn is that large. Just wondering how long the saw is on the Rangergrip? Thanks for sharing.

    • @dennisleighton2812
      @dennisleighton2812 Před rokem +1

      Rangergrip 79 saw is about 4" in length. It is brilliant. For outdoors, the Hercules is just that - unbeatable! I only recently discovered it, being a big fan of the RG79!

    • @dennisleighton2812
      @dennisleighton2812 Před rokem

      Added thought. The Work Champ actually has 3 more tools than the Hercules (Metal saw, file and mini screwdriver), BUT to accommodate the file it adds another layer, thus making it heavier and thicker. Thus my contention that the Hercules is better suited for outdoors.

      Sometimes its about the journey. In order to know why a destination is good, you have to start at the beginning and cover the other knives that maybe didn't deliver, and that's WHY you continue down the path until you get to the conclusion.
      Lord of the Rings would have been kinda boring if they just flew on the eagles from the beginning to Mount Doom and tossed the ring in and called it a day.
