Respect on everyone likes what they like - personally, I like the reimagining of the song as New Orleans Jazz...but also love the original, but I can see how hearing something iconic in a different tempo and key can throw a person. As an aside, I'm curious as to what you think about her improvs/scats, I think it's one thing that sets her apart (aside from the throaty growls, of course hah)
Her version is always my favorite. Revisiting this after a year, and it's still great.
It's hard to create a new path in your brain for a song that you love. This version was the first time I heard Seven Nation Army, I only heard the original version later. So. This version is my brain path for this song. Great respect for another opinion. That's part of what makes art so dynamic.

I love PMJ, and I love this particular arrangement, but there are a few of their arrangements that, while I can see where they were going with it and I can appreciate the technical brilliance, they just don't quite work for me. So I get where you're coming from...

This is what PMJ does. It takes established songs and stands them on its ear. It Haley also does a take on "Black Hole Sun" that might get an interesting reaction.
Funny, I heard this version first and like it better. You get something in the head and like to keep it that way.

Once he stated his initial bias for the original version and restarted the video , he did give the whole song a listen ... seemed to enjoy Everything but the Style chosen ( he called it arrangement, but ... ).

I know this comment is late, regardless if you aren't into Dirty NO Jazz, you have to admit that Tbone solo was fire. Glad you were able to grind through and find bits and pieces to groove to even if the performance as a whole isn't your thing.
No, Haley's Britney Spear's cover as Marylin Monroe is her 2nd best performance in my opinion. I recommend Pentatonix - Cracked, Scott Hoying - Tell Your Momma On You, or Scott Hoying and Kevin Olusola - The A-Team.
I agree this match of song and genre isn't my favorite. But, for what it was, it was well done. I appreciated the shoutout on the first PMJ reaction. The one I am really "holding out for" though is PMJ and Morgan James' covers of 'Maps' and Aerosmith's 'Dream on'. Also there is a cove of Megan Trainor's 'All about the Bass' that feature her and Haley that is fun.
Hahaha, tastes obviously differ - and that's cool cause it would be terribly boring if we all liked the same thing.
Personally, for me, the original White Stripes version sounds like a badly practiced garage band unfamiliar with their instruments and suffering from a horrendous hangover ;-)
How about checking out their cover of 'Old Town Road' - real blues style sung by Miche Braden. She owns that song!
Personally I think when anyone hears one the the best performance by any artist and then listens to other performances, it can become a slight letdown because you know what they are capable of and human nature wants more. But you're still trying to be objective. I can almost say 90% if anyone hears this performance 1st and then moves on to "All That Bass" (which you haven't heard by PMJ yet with Haley and Morgan) and then go to "Creep" each performance would have been appreciated more and more without any reservations due to expectations. In your case your expectations were also knowing this song you like a certain way prior and that you probably loved, which gave a preconceived perception. For me Creep is the best performance Haley does and she so damn sexy doing it. It's the whole package. After listening to "Creep" it's hard to find a better performance. But that's just how I feel, No one may feel the same. That's the beauty of music.

Okay, I'm always a day late and a dollar short it seems. But nonetheless, you've heard Haley sing jazz on a couple of tunes. So here's a new rock song she wrote off of her recent "Lo-Fi Soul" album called "Don't Know How to Love You". I pretty sure you will like it cause it's a very soulful rock song in which she sings to perfection.

I understand getting one version so ingrained in them that it's hard to do any other version. There were some that did that with Disturbed's Sound of Silence (which I saw your reaction). If everybody loved everything that everyone did, we would have no variety and interestingness :) Keep doing your thing.
Its definitely not as good as the original, but for me....for what they were going for I think they did great, and Haley is amazing!!!

I've enjoyed the few of your reactions I've seen, and I like your commentary, and that you are real about what you like and don't like. I really like this version (and the original song), but I don't think that my preferences should dictate what everybody else likes, as seems to be with many viewers (negative, or even not overflowingly positive responses in reaction videos tend to attract dislikes).
