Maybe your mods have told you, but Akainu's real name is Sakazuki. He can be seen in Robin's flashback on Ohara. He's the one who ordered the navy ships to fire on the civilian escape ship in order to make sure that all the scholars were dead. Just added trivia in case you missed it.
A lot of people seem to miss the detail, but back when Ace was fighting Blackbeard. Blackbeard mentioned that even though his darkness is considered a logia, he can't avoid hits like other logias. In fact his devil fruit actually makes him absorb more damage than it should. This is the reason why you always see blackbeard freaking out whenever he gets hit by anything.
Idk why but that moment of Whitebeard saying all he ever wanted is a family is my most rewatched scene in all of One Piece. Must have seen it a hundred times already.

Akainu is in his prime now. He is the one of the strongest marines right now. (Upto this marineford war..) Garp was on par with Gol D. Roger when he was in his prime. But still his power levels are not yet fully revealed. I feel it is gonna be a tough fight. ( Akainu has got Advantage because of his Magma Df)

Allona, I know you're at the latest episode, but if you haven't got your explanation on how Blackbeard arrived, the anime actually tweak a little. Bon Clay actually didn't destroy the console in the control room. In the manga, he told the operator to open and shut once Luffy and gang passed through. Thus, Blackbeard was able to come to Marineford as well. I guessed you know Bon Clay is still alive just because Magellan had to go deal with Blackbeard pirates and instead got beaten near death state.
Seeing this again, I had the realization that Whitebeard is very very tall, so I decided to look up Whitebeard's height and at first I was thinking he was 11 or 12ft tall but no.. *HE IS 21'10*

Akainu tried to make it seem like he was trash and completely washed, but then in his final moments of life it looked like he put the fear of God in that admiral's heart. Blackbeard is definitely one of the grimiest in One Piece, but I have to admit I respect his plan of achieving Shichibukai status just to get into Impel Down and collect the nastiest most despicable human beings for his crew and then throw the title away in front of the Fleet Admiral on Navy HQ. He is a filthy, over confident coward though. I'm glad Whitebeard put the fear of God into him to before he died. The will of D is one of the greatest mysteries. I think at this point, you know as much as anyone else about it outside the theory crafters that piece together bits of obscure info to learn even the slightest bit more. I get chills every time they describe Whitebeard's injuries and then talk about how he never received one wound on his back. I can only hope to gain that much tenacity during my living years in general, let alone in my final moments.
Another fun fact, in an interview Oda (the writer of one piece) confirmed that garp would of 100% been able to kill akainu (and implies he wouldnt have even had to try in his prime)
