It needs at least a 10 mm thick cover plate solidly bolted with all differential centre bolts or fully welded on to have full strength. But that was a suitable repair for a trailer axle, the truck driver will only overload and try to break it again. 👍

It appears that adding those thick plates on each side will give it more strength than it had before it ripped in half. I think the truck may have landed in a pot hole with a full load.
