Great effort amid all that noise. Ive Still got my Triton 2000 since 2005. Great tool. Best thing I’ve bought for wood work.

I purchased my Triton in about 1995 to build my house and its done a huge amount of work from cutting timber to tiles, and steel. Ive probably flogged it, but its weathered the load every time. In short, I would be without my Triton even after all these years. Luv it!

Gordon did a nice job of showing the machine in spite of the interferences along the way. A pro

Gordon is a true gentleman. I knew him well back in the naughties, when I was a Triton demonstrator.

@@Thelivewire64 If I'm not mistaken, in the mirror, I seem to be getting a Gordon gray white hair coloring by now. Need to buy all new tinted mirrors for the house and shop!!! And the van I have a larger version of the Triton. It is the Martin T60 sliding table

I had a Triton work centre but didn't really know how to use it properly and used it primarily in lieu of a slide saw. I then had a number of years where I didn't need to do any real woodwork so it sat idle. I sold it to a mate who was doing a renovation. Now, as I'm about to do a reno and have more experience, I am in the market to buy another and, this time, use it properly.
Triton is a great design with great features. I'm sorry I sold my original Triton and gear but am looking forward to getting another.
Thanks for the video. Very informative.

Great video. My dad died and left me one of these and thought they would be outdated as it was from the 1980's and I was going to buy a drop saw. But, it looks like these Tritons are better. you've motivated me to go and set it up and see what I can do. He tried to teach me, but being young and know it all, wasn't interested. Am now! Thanks again

Good day Gordon. From Christopher Lockwood. The mad RAAFie with the Paper Tiger catamaran. I still remember the day when I blunted the metal cutter at the Sydney Wood Show. An NDT technician supposedly with some metalergy knowledge.

This sort of thing used to be a cheap alternative to a cabinet saw or a router table and you could use your existing tools if you don't mind not having hand tools anymore. I used to have a triton saw and a router table. The best thing is that I sold them and bought a cabinet saw and built a router table.
There was not a big difference in price but a real big difference in quality, ease of use and safety. For example at around 6.00 min he was setting the second side of the fence while standing at the front of the saw, not over the top where there is no parallax error if he sets it with a couple of mm of toe in, part way through the cut it will wedge and If you don't know what is happening a lot of people would push harder and end up in the blade. Ive seen that sort of thing happen because most people who buy a triton really don't have much of an idea of how to safely use a wood working machine.

I disagree with the comment regarding the fence guard scale. Works perfect for me. Just can't believe that the chap next door had to run his router during filming of this clip.

Now I got to get one of these newer ones. My old MK3 is looking outdated. Would love to get the WPA207 in new condition if possible. The new 7th gen is for tradies and I do not need all that pizazz for home use.

  • @pippaknuckle

Those locking hold down fingers break off very easily. The lack of straight channels on the table means you cannot make all the cutting jigs you will see every other table using, that is very limiting. Accurate mitre cuts with the protractor are not as easy as they claim hence the need for a jig, but this table can't use accurate sliding jigs. Any spare parts you might need in Australia are not available or cost a huge amount. There are better options for Austrlaia now.

Any adjustability for height in that saw blade? Or do you just chew straight down through a thin piece of wood the same as you wood a 2x4? Minus one point for "quality work" right there.

    • @ratheanach5545
      @ratheanach5545 Před 3 lety +1

The blade height is adjusted on the circular saw itself, using the normal rise and fall mechanism. For cross cutting, the table can be set at various heights to accomodate different diameter blades, e.g.7 1/4", 9" etc. One drawback of the Triton in rip mode is the thickness of the table itself.......on a 7 1/4" saw, which gives a maximum depth of cut of about 3 1/2"-
you lose the the thickness of the table, which is about a 1/2 ", reducing maximum cut to about 3 ".............all approximate, but you get the idea. I've owned my Triton since 2000, using a 7 1/4" Skil saw, and have now upgraded to a 9" Hitachi.......should have done it years ago. The Workcentre has limitations, but within those, it's a useful piece of kit.

@@marceld6061 Glad to help. I bought mine for much the same reasons, and while I now have more space and a fixed table saw, I still find myself reaching for the Triton...............take it outside to cut 8' x 4's and the like, easier than manouevering large stuff inside a (still small) workshop.
