    I would love to see a player like Avery in this new NHL. Along with Matthew Barnaby. I couldn’t stand either of them but it was fun watching them and hating them.

      Barnaby was a hell of a character, and an entertainer. I agree, you hate both when they're not on your team, but love them when they are.

      At least Barnaby would fight ANYONE. Sean would turtle or evade if any true enforcer wanted to go with him. Avery was definitely an effective guy on the ice at times but he wasn’t as crazy as Barnaby any day of the week.

    just to clarify the situation here for the Anglos-Canadians, he's talking trash about Denis Gauthier, the next game they faced off Denis invited him, put his helmet on the ice, Avery chickened out of course, but nobody is talking about it, anyway good for him tho, otherwise he'd be dead or paraplegic, Denis' fafther was a wrestler, both his uncle were in the WWF, the Rougeau brothers, his grandad is Jacques Rougeau Sr, one of the toughest Canadian man ever

      Darren H what are you talking about? Do you even know how small Avery was? He fought all the time including heavy weights and 9 out of 10 times was the smaller player. Plus he wasn’t a fighter, he was an agitator and better than anyone else at it.

    Henri Richard, most stanley cups (11)
    Patrick Roy and Martin Brodeur, best goaltenders of all time
    Guy Lafleur, one of the best
    Marcel Dionne, one of the best
    Hockey without french canadians is nothing period.

    @kyuss4me As I clearly said, if you instigate a fight with a visor on, you get an additional 2 (on top of instigator). Since Kennedy did not instigate the fight, he did not get an instigator penalty. Since he did not get an instigator penalty, rule 46.6 does not apply. Quite simple really.

    @1103Maverick Hummm, I'm from Qc and I agree with you that a lot of the best players to play the game were French canadians (Roy, "Rocket", Lafleur, Béliveau, Brodeur, Lemieux...) The only thing is: Sean COuturier is Born in Phoenix, AR (American) and Claide Griroux is born in Ontario and french is not his Native Language =S

    Sean Avery was despised all around the league. He built his reputation around the fact that he would talk all that sh*t while very rarely "backing anything up".
    The kinda guy who would invite a guy to fight,just to not drop the gloves and turtle up when the other guy drops his gloves.

Immigration has played a great part in that and the conservative separatist have lost faith in the Bloc Québécois and the Parti Québécois. The seperatist dream is over, the idea has been forgotten. Some keep try to keep it alive, but, ultimately, nobody really talks about it anymore. Especially not in Montréal.

      +Daniel Rampazzo Yeah except that time when he skated directly from the bench all the way to the end zone to seek out Zenon Konopka (who had a week earlier called out a Ranger (Wolski) for a hit) waited for Konopka to get his elbow guard off (which literally took him 5 or 6 seconds, Avery was just standing there waiting) and then proceeded to square up and fight. So, is Konopka not tough? LOL i'd love for you to talk your game to Avery's face

    fact, brashear is actually from africa. he grew up in the city of Nairobi and a scout just happend to see him play a game of roller hockey and he controlled his opponents so amazingly and had such great hands that they invited him to a tryout for Ste-Foy-Gouverneurs of the Quebec Major Junior League. He came her. Roller hockey is big in Nairobi but he made the adjustment to ice skating very well. He had to make adjustment to the food though as he only at jungle fruits for most of his life

    One of the great things about being canadian is the ability to get your face slaped or nose broken in many launguages. As a kid growing up in the Timmins Area of Northern Ontario i had friends and enemys of all religions and launguages. Simpler times when all we had to worry about was the Hbomb
