Ok
what game is??
Basically what Japan actually wanted with their flagships final battle instead of the US spamming planes.
Japan: build the yamato, the world's largest class of battleships for a decisive jutland-style battle.
also japan: bases its entire successful initial campaign on aircraft carriers...
And yet, Yamato would only be effective in perfect weather and at close ranges
@@man7912 Actually, she would be effective at long ranges. She did fire on of the longest recorded hits ever fired, when she hit the US escort carrier White Plains from 20 miles, the preceded to heavily damage the destroyer Johnston, and send blow away the escort carrier Gambier Bay to Kingdom Come from similar ranges. Also, the weather wouldn't have to be perfect, just good.
Yamato would win vs Iowa easily in most conditions. People who claim otherwise are basically the flat-earthers of this topic and dont understand the slightest about naval warfare and numbers. Its actually quite vice versa, its not Yamato... its Iowa that need very specific and perfect conditions to stand a chance.
@@PriestessOfSlaanesh While on paper, they are somewhat even, in real life, the battle would be the equivalent of target practice for Yamato, due to the fact that Iowa’s crew was absolute shit. Like, during shore bombardment on Saipan, she failed to do any real damage, and during target practice on the USS Nevada shortly after WW2 from 13 miles away, with a hit rate of only two percent.
Fun Fact: A single Japanese infantry attack contains more waves than the Pacific ocean. Yeah, think about that.

Soviet: WHAT DID U JUST??????

Woooo raptor you watching this ?
Just a note, the Yamato fires it’s turret guns very rapidly, as if they were shot a few split seconds after each other, while Iowa fired its guns slowly, as if it was fired seconds apart from each round being fired.
iowa fired salvos, while yamato probably fired single shells. Though this wouldn't happen in real life, as both of them would fire salvos
All battleships fired their guns about at the same time. However they usually had 'delay circuits' which delayed the middle gun about half a second after the two side guns. This was for accuracy reasons.
@@ThatZenoGuy Retired Navy Gunner here , the three guns in a turret had a .06 second delay between them , otherwise the simultaneous muzzle blasts would affect the trajectory of the shells ..

Your right but research does point out the Iowa class battleships in east terminology
Stormy weather: Iowa wins because of its more equipped radar and longer range.
Clear weather: a draw due to Iowa’s speed and maneuverability
Iowa’s guns are more powerful because of there muzzle velocity and slightly smaller caliber as it’s not up to size it’s decided by physics so yes a lot of research points out to Iowa but Yamato is a beast of a ship
@@zenistu5789 and iowa’s are most accurate
well if they blunder into each other at super close range like in this video, Yamato will crush any other battleship. The question between Yamato and Iowa was always who would win in the kind of long range gun duel that Iowa was built to fight. In that sort of fight, though both ships could throw their shells well over 40,000 yards (over 23 miles), Iowa's fire control allowed accurate fire at extreme range and Iowa's radar could track Yamato and feed exact positions to it's superb fire control system at ranges where the Yamato would only know where Iowa is if she has a seaplane scout observing and talking on the radio. Basically at very long range Iowa would be expected to land lots of hits for every hit Yamato lands, so the question is does the better fire control win out or does the crazy thick armor win out.
Yeah, advances in air power, submarines, and missiles are what made battleships obsolete. There's a reason why you see nations build bigger and bigger aircraft carriers, and better support ships, while battleships have disappeared.
However, if railgun technology continues to advance, and anti missile systems get better, perhaps we may see submersible battleships. Rather than launch torpedoes, they simply surface, unleash a hyper-accurate and unstoppable salvo of death, and then dive again.
@@zenistu5789 plus the penetrating power of the 16in ap round was superior to that of the 18s on the Yamato and musashi.

Just shoot then with AA gun and job done
AA guns would be enough. Those pirate guns wouldn’t even scratch the armor.
Maybe this condition both side have chance.
Yamato but can't use naval guns so They need fight with crew guns.
In my opinion, in such large-scale battles it is very interesting to observe the individual participation of some participants, because they can best convey seriousness and fun at the same time.
The 16" guns on an Iowa class battleship were rated after the war as being equal to or slightly superior to the Yamato's 18" guns, because of longer range and superior accuracy due to better radar controlled range-finding. That said, the close proximity of the ships (toe to toe for battleships) meant that advantage was taken away. At that point its just armor. While Iowa class ships are tough, Yamato had nearly twice the armor, so could hang is a brawl a lot better.
I do have to say that a fight like this would have never happened. Both sides would have known the other's position long before the first shot was fired. and if Yamato was that close to a capitol ship, I would bet that a lot of dive bombers would have showed up as well.
As true as this is the Iowa’s guns (iowa class in general) we’re actually stronger due to higher muzzle velocity which is a factor in long range but this would also mean it would be able to penetrate armor a lot easier and explode inside the ship. Your comment is amazing it’s true but this is my reply
@@zenistu5789 Don't forget Fire Control. Iowa could see and target over the horizon as well as maneuver and shoot simultaneously at a speed almost 10 knots higher than Yamato. Japanese did not have the ability to shoot/maneuver. If they were shooting, they had to go dead straight. If maneuvering they could not shoot.
It has been said that the Bismarck with 14 inch guns, had the most accurate guns of all the WW2 battleships. Not the most destructive, but the most accurate. Because, the ship had an advanced gyroscope, that other enemy battleships of larger size did not have at the beginning of the war. American Battleships that were produced earlier before Pearl Harbor had 16 inch guns. The projectiles weighed 2000 pounds, and could shoot a distance of 20 miles. And they could shoot constantly. One blast after another. In the past, I was able to go aboard the USS New Jersey. What a sight to see those two big gun turrets. Located up front. And one in the rear.. 9 big ass guns total.
Lol. You guys are all wrong. Yamato had better range and thicker armor. Iowa’s range fell a couple miles short, but had far superior fire control. Also. The size and shape of the Yamato’s shell made it less likely to penetrate at range if it did hit. Not due to muzzle velocity. Due to shell design.
@@zenistu5789 That's not the case. The 16" .50 cal. fired a shell with slightly better penetrative ability outside 20,000 yards, but the 18.1" shell had a much larger bursting charge. The Yamatos carried much more armor than the Iowas and had an immunity zone twice that of the U.S. ship.

Well in actual history the ship can keep survive for 9 hours from America bomber planes. That was intense too.
The Yamato in this video was unrealisticly slow to fire and inaccurate. It was, in these conditions, just as accurate as Iowa. Also Yamato used way larger guns so yeah, that also counts.
@@Starkillerscat yep but count speed + size... Iowa is fast battleship so its faster and smaller making it harder target

Hood
I have a wargame call Atlantic Fleet and I played with the Bismarck and Scharnhorst vs North Carolina, 1:1 and both german battleships sink the US Battleship
South dakota? I think its Icecream Vendor
USN Iowa would never have a chance alone vs. IJN Yamato in a straight up fight. After the Colorado Class Battleships, the US adopted speed and accuracy over power and armor, where the Japanese focused on sheer firepower, making the Yamato and Musashi both the ONLY battleships in naval history to have 18 inch/460mm main battery turrets. In reality, if the Iowa ever came up against the Yamato or Musashi, it's best chance at survival would be to turn and run.
True, their capability is on accuracy, speed, and fire control. But Yamato is having thicker armour , and greater guns. Just like a MMA fighter against a sumo wrestler on A fight match.
If the Iowa knew where Yamato was (ex: yamato doesn't sneak up on it) then sinking the Yamato would be a cake walk for an Iowa. They can shoot exceptionally far with exceptional accuracy and are much faster. All the Iowa has to do is keep its distance and run circles around the Yamato and use its radar.
@@zachrowell7625 Yamato is lacking on good crew, once its got a good crew , and better fire control, there Will be two condition. On a sunny day, Iowa Will lose due to Yamato's gun And armour is better, but on rainy , mist or night, Iowa Will win the battle since Iowa's radar is superior, also Iowa still superior in speed too, so she can control the battle speed.
Imagine if we can combine both of them, and with Bismarck's reload speed with only 20 secs....

Only reason this happened was the Yamato Somehow snuck in close. Iowa Class was specifically designed for long distance combat, having Super heavy 16inch shells designed to dive at a steep trajectory, Radar assisted gunlaying and unbelievably enough; a ballistic fire control computer (one of the first of its kind) even in the '40s.
I think even in close range Iowa could still win. Its superb fire control allows it to track and fire at enemy ships while doing extreme evasive maneuvers to dodge enemy shells
Yup if it was long range the Yamamoto wouldn't have even known what hit it.

They dont have enough resources and ammunition
Nice video. Yamato had higher caliber guns and more armour whereas IOWA had more advanced shells, higher speed and better sensors. In your scenario, Yamato ambushes and engages IOWA in close range. Had the two ships engaged in a similar situation, I would also favor the Yamato. Iowa's best chance to win against the Yamato in an 1-1, would be to detect and engage from long range in blue water sea. Using the superior radar, target system and superior speed, she would cause more damage to the Yamato than receive.
They were in close range though, according to professionals, the victory would depend completely on the battle circumstances
Assuming you are not a professional , of course
Yamato's main armour was deficient in design - they couldn't make it in one piece and ended up just riveting 2 thinner sheets together. Analysis of the hull wreckage showed the rivets broke under stress during combat. Factor that into your simulation ...
Well done on the video, but I doubt the IOWA would have fared that poorly against the YAMATO.
It depends on range really along as yamato is in range for effective combat iowa with its lesser guns and weaker armor would be torn apart though yes not without damaging yamato greatly.

To be honest, if this battle somehow happened in real life (unlikely as both ships were obsolete upon launch and should never have existed to start with), it would end badly for everyone. Whoever wins is going to be badly damaged and easy prey for the enemy.
Victory depended entirely on battle conditions. In clean weather Yamato wouldn't loose to an Iowa.

Must've been a very lucky hit for Iowa to destroy a main gun turret on Yamato.
A much luckier Yamato for basically stumbling upon an Iowa at ranges that would be considered "close range" for an Atlantic duel 20 years earlier in WW2 when the Iowa's radar would normally see Yamato as far as line of sight to the horizon allows, and it could "blindfire" with incredible accuracy, something that no Axis ship was able to do (that means fire on something it never actually sees with optics). In a long range gun duel, the battle could go either way, in a fight like that one where they are only like 3 to 5 miles from each other, Obviosly all the advantages go to Yamato.

@@Ace_Star_543 The gameplay is that yourself as the Admiral of your fleet, do something, upgrade your shipgirls, and complete them to unlock stuffs and aid more characters. ☺
That would have been one of the most violent and gruesome battleship clashes of all time. Binkov's Battlegrounds has done a video showing just how evenly matched the vessels were in areas, and their sheer power. The reason he said Iowa had a chance of victory is partially because of its speed advantage over Yamato's heavier and slower hull.
The turret rooms for both Iowa & Yamato were totally wrong.
Would be interesting to see the full recreation of historic ships sinking like Yamato and the Bismarck.
@creapsmantic Thinking of the Tirpitz? Bismarck was sunk at sea.
there's a lot out there
This video is very accurate and this would be what would happen to the Iowa if Yamato actually met with Iowa I agree with everything that happens in this video
Well done!
The Iowa fired her guns in center, right, left order.
2:40 medal of honor Pacific assault reference?
where’s the kamikaze attacks
Lol
Theres none left
I love it how the Iowa keeps fighting until they completely underwater. Shows that Americans won’t go down without a fight.
Bismarck Vs Yamato too Bismarck sinks but still fights
Iowaが46の直撃喰らって無傷なわけないだろ、、、
HELL YEAH KING VS KING
As soon as I saw the Japanese T-posing, I immediately knew the Iowa is gonna get yeeted.
This is how world of warships has to be
Really great
Fun fact from early 1943 on the USN had radar direction and the Ford MK1(later mk2) analog FDC which assured a first round hit in any weather even when the target was visible to the naked eye
The Legendary Ship battle
Finally!!
1:27 The gun sound of KV-2 in scope mode in WoT Blitz
oh yes I have the kv btw in wotb
finally someone noticed
I like how realistic this looks
Yeah . . It's probably a good thing that none of our Iowas ever took on the Yamato one on one.
The Yamato had 19" guns to their 18".
In the end it was fitting that she was taken down by wave after wave of our planes.
