    I'm curious, is there any specific reason ham radio operating systems look and feel like they are 20 years behind? I thought that all these rigs would be more like a customizable PC by now, both hardware and software, with open APIs so you can hook into the OS and create your own custom software build, custom widgets, screens, extend the base package even more, and upgrade your processor, memory, graphics card, and not have this ancient 800x400/32Gb SD card, DVI, RS-232, and various DIN i/o on the back.

    What would be great if you had a memory for different mic settings.. IE.. Mem1 for standard mic, Mem2 for desk mic and Men3 for a boom mic.. It's a pain having to go into the menu setting everytime you change mic..

    I’m always learning something from your videos. Thank you 🙏 . I’d like to see how you connect an external ATU. I’ve heard that the FTDX doesn’t interface easily with external tuners and many ATU manufacturers are not yet supporting the rig. I have a LDG AT600 ProII that I would like to use, but not sure how... Keep up the great work. Regards; Will, M0LGW

      @HAMRADIODUDE  Před 3 lety

    • @HAMRADIODUDE
      @HAMRADIODUDE  Před 3 lety

      I'd assume the mouse isn't supported. Is it wired or wireless? I've seen a lot of reports of wireless mice(?) not working. I was able to get a m185 working, but others couldn't. Could be a different version of the M185. But first things first, if it is wireless, I would consider a different mouse. Best wishes

  • @wdm213
    @wdm213 Před 3 lety

    Dude, do you feel it's a deficiency that the external monitor isn't higher resolution?
    With more physical space did the image seem jagged at all? Opinion?
    For personal use would you tend to use an external monitor or comfortably rely strictly on the internal screen? Use Cases?
    External Monitor availability on the ftdx10 seems a big advantage over the IC7300, but at a price.
    Thanks

    • @HAMRADIODUDE
      @HAMRADIODUDE  Před 3 lety

      I am not overly concerned about the external monitor not being a higher resolution .Would it be nice to have the higher resolution, but it doesn't bother me too much. I will say, I tend to rely more strictly on the internal screen due to space issues at this location. I do understand the IC7300 vs FTDX10 concerns a lot of people are having. I love my FTDX10 for the great audio filtering, The CW decoder (which can be tricky), and certainly the ability to hook up a monitor/mouse to the radio. The Audio Filtering was a huge reason for me to upgrade from the 7300. With a bit of work on the original firmware, Yaesu will probably have good success with this radio. . Hopefully this helps you a tad.

The only one that worked was an Amazon Basic mouse but the pointer jumps all over the screen. I ordered a M325 and it does not work either. I am taking one last ditch effort and try the 185 you recommend. Gee you would think a mouse is a mouse but not with the DX 10. Guess you just lucked out when you grabbed up the Logi 185. Hi Dennis, sorry for the late reply. I think I discovered why my m185 mouse works and others have issues. I believe it has to do with how old my m185 mouse is (I believe i got it in the mid 2010's). I believe the older m185 mice have a different chipset in them, most likely. I am hoping you were able to find a working solution.
