I'm pretty sure I have ADHD (I'm 23) but it's proving really difficult to get a diagnosis on the NHS and I don't know what to do. Do you have any advice?
My GP did a quick assessment and agreed it was likely I have it so she referred me. Then I was asked to fill out the Weiss Functional Impairment Rating Scale Self-Report, which came with a guide on how to scored it. I filled it in and then checked my scores and I had some degree of impairment in 5 of the 7 areas. I sent back the paperwork and waited a couple of weeks before asking my GP receptionist about the status of my referral and she told me it had been rejected because I didn't experience any symptoms before age 13. I find this really confusing because no one had asked me anything about my childhood. if I had been asked I would have mentioned various childhood symptoms. Is this a thing you're heard of happening?

    Dear Doctor Elliot Carthy,
What can I do about chronic anxiety dreams/nightmares? They are not nightmares per say in the sense that I'm scared or am really upset, but I keep having anxiety attack dreams where I'm back in school and failing, I'm naked and desperately trying to cover up and find my clothes and everything is going wrong etc.
It's getting really disruptive because it'll case me to toss and turn so much in my sleep that all the sheets get completely tangled around me, I'll wake up completely drenched in sweat and my whole body will be so clenched through the night that I'm sore and exhausted when I wake up. I've wondered a few times if I've had a seizure in my sleep I'll be so sore and exhausted. It'll also make it 20x harder to wake up and I'll often oversleep.
It's exhausting and really frustrating because even though I have diagnosed generalized anxiety, my life currently has very little stress or drama.
I'm told the few times I'm with family and we're staying/sharing together in a hotel that I sleep talk and none of my friends or siblings can share a bed with me on trips or sleepovers because I toss and turn so much. If I manage to get myself a husband someday I'm convinced we'll need to put two king sized mattresses together so that we can have space when sleeping because there's no way he'll sleep through being steamrolled

I've had a psychiatrist zone out on me then yawn.
I flipped out and left without saying anything, my thought process (as I remember it) was along the lines of...
"Well obviously I'm not important enough to pay attention too, I shouldn't have bothered, No one is ever going to care, I should have just stayed home, how did they get hired, that's such bullshit, I would make a better doctor then they are, I should be a psychiatrist, as if, I can't even help myself, how the fuck could I help anyone else, I'll never be good at anything, I'm fucking stupid and useless, I should kill myself, I forgot to wash the dishes, I'll wash the dishes THEN kill myself, the laundry needs cleaning too, CZcams notification, who posted, I don't want to know, I want to know, did I eat today, what was I doing, not important any more I have to start my mindfulness meditation, there are clothes on the floor, I need to clean up first, it's dinner time, I can't eat that, I can eat that, don't ask me how it went, leave me alone, I love my family, what was the notification, I'm still hungry, the bed is made and I showered but I'm still alert, I should do something, I can't do this, nothing is good, everything is wrong, I hate myself, I should call the psychiatrist back, they were an asshole, I'm tired now, I didn't do anything after I got home... did I? ... lazy shit.

Blimey I haven't watched casualty in years!!! I could def do one. Are there any psychiatry or mental health storylines you can recommend?

@@DoctorElliottCarthy There's Ethan's PTSD storyline which the main episodes are series 34 episode 1, 2, and 13. There's also David's bipolar storyline and Dylan's OCD storyline but I can't think which are the main episodes of those off the top of my head.
