    Great video, I agree even the zipties were not cut with flushcuts. I know right away when I work on something someone else work on. What kind of work, I can expect even from zipties. Great work well explained!

    Great lessons there Joe. Glad you found the problem and changed it from a dodgy to an expert level fuel pump wiring!

      Thanks K Smith, yes! I think never assume that a top job has been done unless seeing it for yourself in person I probably in highensight should have checked it. Worth a look on any other cars in the future just to verify the actual pump and fitment for sure! Thanks mate, appreciate it 🙂✌

    Most helpful CZcams channel to date for s chassis stuff really appreciate it, Joe if you could explain how to wire the relay and where you got it from that would be great !

    • @JoeYates77
      @JoeYates77 Před rokem +1

      Hey bro, thanks I really appreciate the kind feedback. What you need is a simple relay with wiring diagram pinout. Use the trigger from the ECU (close to the fuel pump in cabin top hat, it will be on the main plug to the pump.) Use that trigger as the trigger for the relay instead, using the relay to switch constant supplied battery voltage to the pump instead. Hope that makes sense. Lookup the wiring diagram from the manual at the pump to find what wire is the trigger to turn the pump on from the ECU, you then want to use that to trigger, switch the relay on instead and by supplying constant battery voltage to terminal 30 on the relay and using the factory fuel pump trigger as the trigger instead for the relay you'll get a constant higher voltage. Any auto electrical or auto parts shop should sell a relay and some good quality wiring. Don't forget to wire in an inline fuse for terminal 30 power from the battery to protect circuit from shorts, also make sure the earth for the relay is done well.

    good video Joe.just wondering what you used between the ellen key headed bolts and the bulk head fittings to stop fuel leaking along the threads.

      Thanks Richie 🙂✌
      They're actually Aeroflow electrical bulkhead fittings, which come with an oring on either side (top & bottom). So sealing comes from the orings supplied. Hope this helps, 🙂.

    Great video detailing the setup. Did you find out if there was a mounting bracket within the fuel tank for the fuel hanger assembly to hold on to?

    • @JoeYates77
      @JoeYates77 Před 2 lety

      Yeah man, there's a bracket inside the tank that the fuel pump hanger slides into and clips in. It's quite tricky to get it in. Once you figure out where it slides in its not too difficult tho. :)

    Hey Joe,
    Did you encounter any issues with fuel leaking through the plastic spacers you installed?
    I followed your video and installed the exact same kit as you did on my S14, and upon start up, I had fuel leaking out of one of the holes.
    After removing it all and using some fuel resistant silicone and re installing it, it still leaked after the first drive.
    I believe it is due to the different design of the S14 fuel hat unit, the return inlet actually pokes upwards when entering the fuel tank and directs the fuel towards the fitting I installed.
    Any recommendations?

    • @JoeYates77
      @JoeYates77 Před 2 lety

      Hey mate,
      It was a tight fit drilling the holes in the top hat to mount the electrical bulk head fittings. What I found I had to do was lightly Dremel the surface flat on both sides so the washers had a flat surface to seal against. I used loctite on the washers, and fittings.
      A particular necessity that was required 100% with the Aeroflow bulkhead fitting kit was filing down the bulkhead nylon washers so it would seal properly. From memory they were too thick so I had to remove some thickness material from each to bring the size down. Maybe that's what the issue was, is?
      Hope that helps, I've since also fitted 1 x AN fitting to the top hat and replaced the plastic hardline because I accidentally snapped it off morning of the dyno!
      Made it work and rebooked the dyno for the day after so worked out in the end. Just super annoying and a time consuming mistake/accident.
      Hope you've sorted yours out by now.
      I've not had a problem with each mod to the fuel top hat yet. Seems to be working A ok.

    • @JoeYates77
      @JoeYates77 Před 8 měsíci

      Thanks man.
      I used aeroflow bulk head fittings and had to modify them slightly for a firm fit. They seal each side with supplied orings. I also used loctite on the threads as well. You might have to remove the top hat again and inspect the top hat seal amfor the tank and also the sealing surfaces of the bulk head fittings.

      Just in the Nissan S15 service manual, should be able to find a pdf download somewhere for it. Should be in EL section.
