  • Hello everyone! Here’s my footage from a recent wild camping fishing adventure! Recently I packed up my tent and headed out to the hills where took on some challenging sunshine to try and catch a few trout and ended up being rewarded well for my efforts!

    I'm a recent subscriber and have been working my way through your videos in recent days. Just want to say thanks for making the effort to record these fishing adventures and how much I'm enjoying them. This one reminds me of the kind of fishing I enjoy in west Donegal and the kind of places I like to fish. The solitide is special (not for everyone thankfully) and every wild trout is a jewel. Your commentary is perfect for the videos you make. I often find miself making a commentary to myself as I fish and having "conversations" with myself as I catch or lose a fish or when it just doesn't seem to be working. Every day out fishing is an adventure. Thanks again, and tight lines for 2022 👍

    Interesting, I grew up in the north of Sutherland and learnt to fly fish the innumerable small lochans (55 years ago), I always use a floating line with a very very long leader at least 30 feet of 2lb line, as to flys stopped using a variety of flies years ago, carry just 2 small and black and for real fun Daddy long legs. I suspect I might know some of the lochs you've fished! Stopped distance casting years ago as I seemed to catch most fish close in. Enjoy your "stealth" fishing, shame so few people these days are prepared to walk the miles needed.

      I went on a trip up to Scourie with some family a couple of weeks ago, trout season had ended, and I have to l say it looks like a hill icy anglers dream! I can imagine that there are some real gems up there if you’re willing to do the walking! Interesting to hear about your set up, especially the longer leader, Thanks for watching , Daibhidh

      @@DaibhidhBiy I spend a week fishing the hill lochs between Scourie and Kinloch (at the end of Loch More) every year with a good friend of mine. He has been going every year (when the coof allows) for 60 years and me for the last 30+ years. I travel to lochs well off of the beaten track and over the years I have caught some splendid brown trout up to 3lbs. My best double hook up was when I hooked a pretty large fish on the point (cinnamon & gold) and whilst I was playing it another fish took the dropper (kate mclaren). Whilst I'm wondering how to proceed the smaller fish on the dropper managed to unhook itself (I'd estimate it at around a pound) and I finally landed the other fish (a brownie of around 3lb). These are my go to wet flies but I predominantly use a dry comparadun close in in most situations and catch some very good fish.

    what a great few days you had. That s part of my fishing plan next season. So this winter im going to be tying a load of wet flys! What rod size and line weight did you use and fly choice? Top work and great video I will start watching you r video s with great intrest. cheers tom

    • @DaibhidhBiy
      @DaibhidhBiy  Před 2 lety +1

      Hello tom, I am using a 7 weight rod and line in this video, but a 6/7 will be perfect for any team of 2 wet flies which is what I prefer to usually fish. For fly choices I think I had a Zulu pattern on with a coch-y-bondhu on the top dropper. The coch-y-bondhu has really been my favourite fly this year- it will catch loch trout up and down the country in rivers and lochs, really love it!!! I’m heading out fishing tomorrow evening and reading your positive comment has got me more excited! Tight lines!!!

    • @DaibhidhBiy
      @DaibhidhBiy  Před 3 lety +3

      There’s a feature on the GoPro where it will record everything but once you press the button it will start saving you footage from 15 seconds before the button was pressed, it’s very good for catching bites and saves a lot of memory. You can switch the beep off since I wear the camera on my head and can’t see the flashing red light to tell if I’m recording I just leave it on. Sometimes I’ll edit a quick cut in to skip the noise but sometimes I’ll just leave it in 🤷‍♂️. Thanks for watching!! Hope the videos are as fun to watch as they are to make!
