The fuel economy is far better than a diesel if its driven like a hybrid should ie steady acceleration and using coasting and breaking in good time so if you don't floor it every time and slam on the breaks at the last second you can easily get 80 + mpg and average mid 70s

This is Motorpoint. It's kind of our own version of the CarWow program.

Big deciding factor for me getting the Corolla is reliability (gearbox is unbreakable, not a regular CVT, engines are good too, well designed).
And the Estate of course, the hatchback is kind of pointless as a family car or even an everyday car, still better than a CHR, although my brother and his two teens seems to be doing all right with a Yaris Cross AWD.
Anyway, great car, love it, also a boring car even with the 2.0L, almost soporific at times (very dark interior, especially the back), does everything ok, super fuel efficient when you can be bothered to drive accordingly (around 4l/100km on country roads, lower in cities, 5 to 6L on highways, add a litre when fully loaded).
Taxis and Ubers love them, they love the Camry even more. Civic E:Hev is better overall but good luck finding one, and it's more expensive.
Don't buy one if you want fun and you can't be bothered to drive for efficiency, economy will be mediocre. Try one for the rear passenger space (don't rven bother with the hatchback if that's important), it's not too bad but not the best, especially for tall people (I'm 6'4 it'd kind of the limit even at the front, and no sunroof).

I think these look really good!
I think I’m too young to consider these engine options though. I wish Toyota would offer a BMW like range of propulsion options.
(Although the US get a fast Carlos Fandango GR version 😮)

We do offer the smaller version of the GR Corolla which is similar mechanically (with the circuit pack!): www.motorpoint.co.uk/used-cars/toyota/gr-yaris
      Gotta love a GR Yaris
