I wonder if the topic is much too complex to address in a short format video? Whether a person is selfless and helps another can depend on so many things. Its endlessly complex. What does "help" even mean? If I give a drug addict some money and he/she buys drugs and overdoses, was I selfless? The result was a death. What if someone argued the death was humane considering the suffering of the addict. What if I wrote off the money as a tax deduction? Am I not selfless? I could have not done anything. Is this a grey area perhaps with no singular answer? Does that mean people can be both selfish snd selfless with the same act?
hello professor, i think this is a very thoughtful video and a question i have been grappling with lately. it definitely helped me develop my perspective further. i also find your voice and video style very calming. have a nice day!
I'm glad that you find this video helpful. I'm sure you have your own ideas. Thank you so much for the comment. Please subscribe if you haven't already.
Thank you again, Professor! Very educative video! The mith of Egoism as human nature cannot be proven and it works as ideological tool for propaganda. If Egoism was naturally human you could not have Christianism and many other religions that work in a autruistic way. Love itself proves that egoism is not a human condition.
My ego kicks in when I realize that my standards are so much higher than theirs, so why should I succumb to them, when they succumb to many lower standards in their life. If they want to get to my standard, they better succumb to mine because they have been succumbing to very low standards and why should I drag myself down to their lowly level. If self improvement is a function of age, mine only increases not decreases like theirs. While theirs could be decelerating as function, and they can't use me in their older age to self improve just because I'm higher in standards, cause they don't have anything useful for me in their older age, so why should I succumb to that.
You made an interesting point. Please stay tuned for my future videos in which I'll be talking about moral values and moral standards. Different people may make different moral judgements based on different standards. Also, we should distinguish between acting selfishly and acting in one's self-interest. Thank you so much for the comment.
Thank you so much. You seem to be interested in photography. I'd be very happy if you could share some of your photos. Please subscribe if you haven't. Thanks again.

A very good point. Many thanks.
這個問題很有趣,我覺得它類似於人性本善與本惡的問題,人性本身及背景的複雜難以用以偏概全的條件去討論,不過正因為人類的兩面性,才能這個都市叢林不斷地以著不同方式及多元地進步著。
You are absolutely right. Thank you so much.
nice video. but the music was a bit too loud. turn if a lil down so it will be easier to hear you and concentrate. thank you!
I am so sorry. I'll be more careful next time. Thank you so much.

I appreciate your videos. I know it takes effort. Perhaps it takes time away from your family and thus your video creation is quite selfless.
