How far do you think your car could go on one tank of fuel?
Hypermiling makes any car journey more interesting! I do little informal hypermilings all the time. The most memorable one was Oslo to Riga via Stockholm-Tallinn ferry in a 2001 Mini Cooper, ran out of fuel in a Riga suburb. The backrest mechanism on the passenger side broke early on so my friend had to hunch forward on almost the entire drive. Good times
I never really hypermiled my car but at 110-120 kmh I can do 1350km in one tank. 2014 520d Wagon 6 Speed Manual. It has a 70 Liter tank. Great Video btw I really enjoyed watching it. How much did it cost you to get your car to the states?
Хехе, я одном баке могу проехать всего лишь 700 км, у меня Е34 М50, двигатель мощный, поэтому расход топлива такой.
I do around 500km with 60L of fuel with my BMW E46 330xi ; but it cost me less than 50€ with E85 fuel
I had run my 2.8 swaped e36 from Latvia to the UK not too long ago, didn't really hyper mile as not to disrupt traffic, I never ran it to empty, more like half a tank or so, not to let the fuel pump go dry. I think it did like 600 - 700 km to a tank.
You really deserve more views and subs mate. Road tripping a UK car across the US & Canada is a dream of mine. Especially if it's a car the US didn't get.
Thank you Dylan, that’s a really nice comment.
I hope you can do it one day!
Random video on my timeline with a UK reg 320d driving around in Texas - worth a subscribe. :D
Cheers mate!
20-year-old cars' mileage beats modern-day Teslas. YES!
that pissed lady made me laught so hard x)
Yes, it was really funny. I realised after that there’s loads of videos of her freaking out at people.
@@OlliePenny Yeah I saw that in a comment below
😂😂🤣 proper movie dialogue, some people have never been respected in 50 years hence the attitude
Really weird seeing a 320d and uk plates in the us lol
Tell me about it. Every time I look at it I have that feeling too! 😂😂😂
never a british bmw wagon experienced so much freedom in one time
That's insanely good fuel economy! Still interested in the history of your ownership of the car.
You deserve more subscribers! Showing off interesting places and landmarks was just cool 😊
Cheers mate.
I’m going to do one ASAP. I’ve just serviced it in Las Vegas - video coming soon.
I’m gonna buy a new microphone, maybe that can be my first video with it.
LOVE THIS! Will share on socials too. Brilliant video
Thanks for sharing! That’s really kind of you.
Please don’t scrap this car, it’s story is enough to not scrap it!

Great video! But please be careful around the wall, crossing the border outside an official crossing is a felony in the US.

Brilliant video.
You deserve monetization to continue with more content like this. Cheers.
Cheers mate. We’ll see.
Great video man!
I have a old 3.0 Diesel, easily get 700 miles on a motorway run. it's a 65 litre tank.
Great video mate, such an underrated channel!
Cheers dude. Heading into Canada tomorrow. Stay tuned
How on earth is a 320d on uk plates in the USA! Great video. New subscriber
+1
Brilliant video! Reminds me of the old Top Gear. Its amazing how far you can go on one tank of fuel
It is. I wonder how further it would have gone….
Bro i love this video! this is the type of video i love.
My new fav channel🎉
dropping a like because I saw you posted this in a comment about breaking bad on fb 🖤
What a great channel! Earned my sub keep it up mate! So funny you got yelled at by that lady, pretty sure she’s famous on CZcams for getting angry at breaking bad fans 😂
Cheers mate, I will! And yes - I didn’t know this was a thing until I called my friend back in England and before I told him what happened he asked if I got yelled at by her. There’s loads of videos online of her freaking out. Stay tuned
Love this man!
now THIS is impressive! Great video and great experiment!
Cheers mate. :)
Legendary response at the Walter White House
This is awesome
This is a great video
frick yes, this is an amazig trip of yours
Is there an American watching this video?
I'd like to know what he thinks about 1000 miles out of 1 tank...
great stuff man

Top video 👍

Pretty amazing having your car shipped to the US for this adventure. I'm sure it's going to be awesome
id love to do this haha, so impresssive, i averaged 52mpg in my 330d from the north to birmingham and thought that was impressive haha
Was that hypermiling or just steady driving?
I subscribed, nice!
My 320d sedan 5speed gets about 4.6l/100km cruising at 60mph
Sounds about right for the 5-speed.
Awesome with some decent roads that’s mega Mpg , old BMWs 👌🏻
It really was, I was pretty shocked myself. Old BMWs are the best.
They just seemed to have issues after 2006. :(
diesel E46 wagon...yes.
The best. 💪
Big BMW e46 fan from Czechia here! 🙂 I guess thats M47 wih 110 kw under the hood?
115kw I believe. I saw a few E46s when I was in Czechia a few years ago.
GREAT VIDEO! average american 8:45 ahahahaha
Sick
sooooo cool!! Im guessing you know of miles, the high milage hero
i love it
Cheers dude!
You missed a trick with Karen. You should have told her that you have driven all the way from the UK, just to have a look lol
I have the same car, and its just lovely to see it do such great things for its little engine 🙂
proud owner of a E46 320d. Dropping a like 👍
THE BEST! Is yours an estate too?
I need to see this thing get to Alaska
Stay tuned! I’ll be there in August by the looks of it.
did it cost alot to get the e46 into the US?
Just goes to show that the E46 320d is the best car ever made - I’d love to bring my 2006 320cd on holiday with me
They are fantastic. I’ve now done 85,000 miles in it since I bought it 3.5 years ago. It’s just passed 233,000 miles today!
Why not take yours on holiday with you?
same lads gonna take my 320cd to italy soon 192,000 miles and counting
@@anishmahadeo5073how long have you had it?
Please keep the e46 the m47 engine u have is just bulletproof love them engine went from Ireland to the Germany stutgard one 1 tank of diesel ❤
algorithm comment
Cheers dude!
You had 1 litre left in the tank as it takes 65L to fill it to the brim from empty 👍
That's impressive! I wonder how far it would have gone on one tank if you did it in the opposite direction
It was!
I was wondering that myself, it would be interesting to do an extreme challenge and remove as much weight as possible and make it as aerodynamic as possible.
How the fuck did you get a 320d in the US?
😎 😎
got to admit thats cool af, because those m47 engines are economical and can go so faar, just keep driving. I own e91 with same engine but its not that economical, maybe because mine has 163hp. I havent tried how many km I can do on highway with full tank cuz I live in eu and here the longest roads I take are 200km, but I can get around 1200km on full tank on highways, at least board computer showed that to me
Next trip is to the moon!
I love car trip videos, it was awesome man! Please do upload your progress. Btw, why did you say in your previous video that this is going to be its last moments in Europe? Do you plan to sell the car after your trip? Maybe you can try to take it to Africa or something even crazier than that...There was a sick project done by German car club called "The Clutch Kick Kidz". Guys went in their E36 320i Touring, that was in a really poor shape, ALL the way from Germany to Japan. Yes, you read that right - to Japan. They travelled through the whole Russia, at one point the sat nav said: keep driving straight for ~~ 2,400 km. The car had some problems on the way too. They reached a bizarre place where 3 borders meet: Russian, Chinese and I believe Mongolian.
Ultimately, the reached Vladivostok, it took roughly 11,000 km or even more than that. What's sad and funny is the car made it, but then the dude loading the car onto the ship - burned the clutch. Fortunately, their friend the UK has flown to Japan and brought them a new clutch set! They replaced it and went to meet with Japan drift community, drifted the car, then it has been sold and they flew back to Germany. The trip took in total way over 2 months. This was by far the most exciting thing I have ever read in my life, I was glued to my computer for 2 hours+ straight, until I finished reading all of their Facebook posts with pics from this absolutely epic trip.
Hi Mati.
That sounds like a great trip!
Unfortunately, it will come down to money and the car will most likely just be scrapped unless I can register it or sell it in Canada. I cannot sell it in the USA due to their 25 year import rule and unsure how to register in Canada as a non resident!
It’s just not cost effective to ship what is basically a worthless car back to the UK. :(
I’ve just read up about those guys… that’s pretty cool!
I’ll be in Australia from the end of this year… I’d love to drive back from Australia to England.
@@OlliePenny Wow, you found that story, that's great! I really admire how adventurous you are, I could learn something from you. And fingers crossed for your E46, hope it will carry you till the end of your journey!
This was great 👍
I have a 46 330d touring 6 speed manual and the best economy I have ever got is 73 imp mpg
That was over a 200 mile journey going 55mph with 55psi tyre pressure
I keep a log of all my fuel economy on Fuelly app
I would love to see you try this again on a more flat route with high tyre pressure
Do you have egr & cat delete?
Also use a fuel additive, I use Dipetane or Diesel Rhino and they seem to give around 10% economy improvement
That’s very good!
EGR is still connected although vacuum pipe is unplugged from it. I still have the cat.
The tyres were actually under inflated! I forgot to check them before, after I checked and they were 30% under BMW recommendation lol.
Fuel additive is a good idea. 👍
Thanks for the reply
Hopefully you will try again soon & beat 72 mpg🤞
Definitely over inflate your tyres, it makes a huge difference (I noticed you are running very good eco tyres as well)
All the best
@@dan8789 I’m running Michelin across Climates. No chinese tyres. I only trust proper tyres with the speeds we can do across Europe!
@@dan8789i have to ask if you are just going for max efficiency number or actual money saved when giving these tips. You waste way more money on tires from wearing them out too fast running them overinflated then you save on gas from doing it, also the sacrifice to handling on wet/slippery conditions is downright dangerous sometimes.
@@djasseater2262
Hi yes I am trying to get max efficiency
But surprisingly enough my tyres have worn evenly and are down to 3mm tread depth across the whole contact patch
I set my tracking as straight as possible with the least camber(my tyres used to wear out fast on the inside edges as BMW like to run a lot of camber angle)
I don’t drive fast so I’m not effected by the handling & it’s fun in the wet to have the back step out sometimes 👍
How the fuck, 1000km almost with half a tank??? My 3.0xi consumes 12L/100km
Yours is petrol.
@@OlliePenny Yeah and 3L :D I can only dream of under 10L/100km
yours is 3.0 gas and xdrive lmao, no wonder
@@Akira22 🤣
You have a good CZcams reach
I hope I do. :)
What did you do with the engine for 3.89l/100km ? Im getting 4.58L/100km with few years younger 320d and premium fuel.
Nothing.
However, you’ll never beat it in Europe. I’m not exaggerating when I say I drove 1,000 miles constantly at 55mph (90kmh) on cruise control through deserts.
@@OlliePenny was always wondering if dpf/egr delete and remap could help.
@@nikolakarovic5964 mine does have the EGR removed (not blanked but disconnected)
It’s not remapped. My friend has his E46 320D remapped and it was worse off on fuel economy!
@@OlliePenny that was long day sitting. we´ve done some european tour on our old tdi audi, 65L tank and low 4´s per 100km. what you´re doing is in my bucket list
@@nikolakarovic5964there is no dpf on the46.
You can block off EGR.
You can also delete the swirl flaps in the intake runners.
Finally: clear out egr + intake plenum/runners + walnut blast the intake ports in the head.
This will all improve airflow into the engine which makes the engine run more efficiënt.
Dude, is it recapped or something? That duel economy might beat the VAG tdi, wtf😮
Recapped?
@@OlliePenny think he means re mapped lol
Jesus
Good idea, I’ve never heard of hypermiling but if you made it up that’s catchy af.
I believe it was Doug DeMuro that made it up! I can’t take credit!
