Sam Smith breaks his silence about his breakup with model Jonathan Zeizel

- Sam Smith visited 101.3 KDWB and Cities 97 in Minneapolis to perform a few songs for his fans. During the Q&A session, Cities 97 morning co-host Keri Noble asked Sam about the sad #BreakupSelfie he posted on his Instagram the day he reportedly broke up with his boyfriend Jonathan Zeizel. Sam addressed the audience and spoke out about the breakup for the first time since it happened (just four days ago) and the valuable lesson he learned about being so public with a relationship.

May I add, Doby. I don't know Sam personally, but know people who know the family and remember him as a child and a teenager. I'm told he was a lovely, polite, generous and affectionate boy. He was unhappy at times because he lived in a conservative, rural area and went to a Catholic school - not good for an overweight gay lad. He then lived alone in a bedsit in London to pursue his singing career while his friends were enjoying a structured sociable life at uni. He is clearly unsuited to living alone, and what do lonely young people do? Fall in love with an unsuitable person, in Sam's case a married straight man, so of course he was hurt. Who hasn't been? Who hasn't made those awful mistakes? Who hasn't cried over disastrous one-sided love affairs? Sam needs to express his feelings in music. People who have no words for their own pain find comfort in his songs. So, do leave him be. What you have been writing hurts his fans as well as him; hurts those people who find comfort in loving him.I'll shut up now. I hope your future posts will be kinder and more tactful, Doby.

the reason jonathon zeizel kept secret about his relationship with sam smith was because jonathan didnt want to be seen with someone whos "fat". sam smith is a wonderful guy with a wonderful personality. hes adorable too so i dont get why his last boyfriend would be so shallow.

To be constructive, if your sweet friend Jonathan is still being plagued by idiots through social media, he could make his accounts private for friends and family only. My teenage daughter has always done that and recently closed down all her social media accounts and uses texts only. Perhaps Jonathan should have been advised to do so the moment he started dating Sam. Or else do what I've done here, invented a fictional name for his posts. Have a good weekend. Doby. Sam has behaved with dignity and hasn't criticised his ex boyfriend in any way. Even if he's made mistakes he never says nasty things about anyone.
