Her name is Tatiana Smailyuk, and that is all her.
They are from Donetsk in eastern Ukraine. This live session was done to showcase their new (at the time) drummer Vlad. He, Roman on guitar and Eugene on bass are all awesome musicians in their own right. They are touring again, as the guys were recently allowed to leave Ukraine.
She can do it live too. Check out Perennial live at Wacken 2019 and you'll see. Other songs to try , Teacher Teacher, Home Back, Vortex, Judgement and Punishment, and I Speak Astronomy.
So glad I came here to watch this reaction because i was able to read this comment. Didn't realize they were allowed to leave Ukraine, I knew the guys had been there since the beginning of everything with Russia. Glad to hear they were able to safely make it out. Got to see them live in December in New Orleans they are just as good if not better live. Amazingly talented band.

I would suggest Perrenial/Wacken, Teacher Teacher (official Live Melbourne vid), Judgement and Punishment (official vid, followed by 1 take vocal vid), add in Who is Gonna Be the One (Live), I Speak Astronomy, Then Home Back (It is incredibly fortelling...), Then Vortex from the latest album. After that, you can dig back for No Hoard of Value, *Sit, Stay, Roll Over*, Bad Water (NO Scream Growl), Scissors, Ape, Exposed as a Liar, Captain Clock, Retrospection, and many more...
They just don't know how to not kick ass...

My Mom always sounded like that to me when she got angry. Probably not to other people, but to me that's what it sounded like. First time I watched this, I reflexively covered my head and tried to dodge a slipper that wasn't there.
She tends to use the harsh vocals to convey anger or pain. You really see it in a song like Teacher Teacher. Btw the intro to Teacher Teacher has a bit of a hip hop vibe.

My simple take regarding her "Satanic" voice, Greg: If you were a selfless fish (Pisces) who wanted to see the world but was a bit skittish, and then got into the nets and was hooked by handsome butchers who proceed to rip away your scales and entrails (emeralds)... you'd growl too! So you see, sometimes the lyrics call for extreme vocals in a song. Tatiana (who's not singing as someone possessed, so you can toss the garlic back into the spaghetti sauce) wrote an incredible story and sang about it the way it deserved to be sung... as with most of her songs. Some vocalist just keep singing in their nice and charming voice even when the lyrics call out desperation. Not so with Tati. Her extreme expression - a rare ability - adds so much more to a song... especially if you follow the music with the lyrics and how the beautiful cacophony tells the story.

Tatiana uses the same vocal techniques as anyone, male of female to produce those harsh vocals. But above her great vocals, which I accept some people can’t appreciate, the band is phenomenal

Hey bro, I was glad to see you responding to this video and I loved your response. I am quite a bit older than you and I have played the guitar for over 50 years and at my age I am a serious Metal fan. I know it’s different but if you envision using the voice to not only sing or rap but to be used as a literal tool to express not just soft emotions but rage through “harsh vocals“ then you begin to understand a different style of music that is Jinjer. Pay attention to their odd time signatures that they intentionally make it so that you can’t follow the beat because it evokes conflict in the very form of this music. To slowly get into them I would next check out teacher teacher. Everything of theirs is incredible.

There is deliberately 2 seperate voices in this, the sweet and the angry... just as with a Pisces there are 2 side's to the person, or in the horoscope picture 2 fish meeting end to end. Tati is a Pisces and it's a very autobiographical song. Pure art, nothing more nothing less.

I can't remember if I posted this on one of your other Jinjer videos or not, so I'll put it here to be sure. The way she "Screams" is a technique where she uses what is known as false vocal chords that are actually used by the body to help prevent water from going into the lungs. The hardest part to learning this technique is actually finding your false vocal chords to use in the first place, then you can't force them when you scream, if you do so; you'll seriously injure yourself. You have to let it flow smoothly. That is how she can switch between "clean singing" and "screaming". Also, she hasn't had any formal training of any kind. Amazing...
