Great video! You both caught some really nice Bass! I took your advice and used those jigs ice fishing. We caught several Perch, no Pike. However, we did catch some nice trout, using some small spinners. Keep up these great videos, and thanks for the advice!
Was out on the lake today in michigan, lots of small perch and not one yellow belly yet :(. But I am glad I came across your channel, keeping my fish fever alive lol!
Enjoyed your video as usual. I'm in s.e. Michigan and there's no ice at all. But believe it or not open water can still produce some angling opportunities.
Caught a bass once in front of three DNR guys with those spots - they say it's essentially skin cancer for fish, doesn't hurt them though, just causes discolorations. Mine looked like a leopard!
Another solid video man! Nice catches in there. I've caught Bass with those splotches before. I found this info from Wired2fish "The black splotches are caused by a condition known as melanosis, and to be distinctly clear, it is not the same as melanoma, which is a human skin cancer. Melanosis occurs when, for whatever reason, a skin cell cannot regulate pigment production like it should. Melanin production in these cells is greatly increased resulting in hyperpigmentation and a black spot. The inverse is also possible where cells do not produce melanin resulting in hypopigmentation."
Hey bud great channel...I was raised on Lake Huron, Saginaw Bay area....Bay City/ Essexville. Where the Perch were replaced by Walleye. Keep em coming❄😀🐟🐠
Great video! The only thing I could think of with this eblack spots is melanosis but the spots dont look big enough and that doesnt seem likely for the health of the fish. I really enjoy watching these videos and I hope I can get better and getting like and bass to bite and stuff. How do you find good locations for your fishing?
Interesting, I'll look into that. These fish sure were healthy! For this lake, I just looked on Google maps for lakes that seemed to have good points and contours. But usually I just call local bait shops or just go out and explore them on my own. Lots of people won't talk much about the good spots, so you've gotta just search on your own unfortunately. Good luck this season!
Awesome video as always. Please show the bait you’re using if you don’t mind. You may have abs I might have missed. Also do you do any fly fishing in the winter in local non frozen streams? Miss the fly fishing videos but love the ice fishing ones too. Thank you brother!
6:12 is called a 'Jeffrey' by 13 fishing. There aren't many good fishing opportunities in the rivers this time of year, aside from the occasional steelhead. I do hope to some fly fishing at a warm water discharge for pike this winter, just need to make the drive out there. Thanks for watching!
Those I-fish Pro tip ups are made in Mn and are a real game changer! Love them! Also love your content and vids. Been watching you grow for quite a while now. Awesome stuff. Doing great! Ever considered branching out and fishing Mn? Northern Mn?
Thanks man I'm glad you've stuck around! Unfortunately I don't have the time or money to travel too much but I do hope to do some musky fishing in Wisconsin this coming season. Maybe I'll make it to MN next!
I set up the rod the same way I'd set it up for anything else. Just make sure it's strong enough to set the hook and fight whatever fish your targeting. My whole set up is also in the description.
Another great video some nice largies there shocked i didnt see you crush a few pike .. your black tip up that you use with the rod what is that one called ? thanks
Josh, I don't want to steal your spot. I just want to know what county, or counties, have lakes with that much ice. Nothing like that in Kent County, for sure. I was in Leelanau last week and didn't see safe ice there, either
I only wear them when the shoreline ice is weak, that way I don't need to worry about breaking the ice and getting wet boots or pants. Only the really shallow water had thin ice, the rest was 6-7" so I wasn't worried about falling in. Although I did have a wading belt on just in case. Thanks for watching!
They've all got great crappie fishing, but they are big lakes so finding them can be a challenge. Lake st Helen is another lake by Houghton that has some solid crappie fishing.
Kinda sucks that by making (very fine) youtube videos, you end up doxxing your own spots. At least you seem to be able to think like a fish when you have to and find new spots. You do keep a couple honey holes from us I hope?
It can definitely be a problem making videos like these.. although I think in this case it was just a weekend at a fairly popular spot. I normally try to fish on weekdays if possible, just wasn't able to this time. And yes, there are certainly some spots that will never be shown in my videos. Thanks for watching man!
No, not an awesome video. Don’t really want to hear nor watch people on a tangential whine. Stay positive and constructive. If that’s not who you are - change. Next, when you are projecting and informing never forget the interrogatives who, what, when, where and why. Why? Because humans who watch your video are asking you this subconsciously while viewing your video that you obviously want them to see. Pacify their insatiable quest for info positively and you might bust a 50000 subscribers. You are young. Get it right now. Develop good habits. BTW, those are not large bass. Words mean things kid. Good luck.
Fortunately I've been one of those guys. Along with Pike and walleye. it can be tough but it's still better than sitting at the house
I would watch equipment reviews. I find it funny that I wish I had a channel half as good as yours and here you are asking us for advice ;)
Haha it sure sounds backwards when you say it that way. Thanks for watching man!
Nice ice bass fishing there! And yes would love to see some underwater Lake trout fishing if you can.
Awesome video! Keep it up! Love watching you catch them on the jig poles!
I very like Yours movies on ice. When i’m in work, the time move faster. Thx for the nice time on YT! 👍🏻🐠
I'm glad you enjoy them! Many more to come

That's awesome, I'm glad to hear you had some success! I've never got a trout through the ice, hoping to do that soon. Good luck this season!
@@peelindrag113 Thank you my friend!
There is plenty of good ice in northern Michigan right now I am from the area and have been fishing for weeks!

Hopefully you guys get some ice eventually! I know a few guys down there have been getting on some open water river smallies.
Mark Withers I'm in south eastern Michigan too no safe ice
Mark Withers I will be heading out later on next week. can't wait
@@fzaoutdoors4097 right on, hope you have a great time
Awesome video🤟🏻 no ice down here in Southeast Wisconsin in my area really.
Keep up the hard work
Hopefully you get some ice soon!
Nice catches mate! 👍 They bass were hungry 😊
Really enjoy your underwater videos. 😊
They sure were! Hopefully I'll be able to get those underwater shots soon!
Wind and rain today hopefully have ice soon ty for the video
Still waiting on some of the good southern Michigan lakes to freeze.. hopefully soon!
Nice work man! Looks like a super fun day of fishing 🤠
Love getting bass through the ice
I have been fishing in MI
It is the best.
Very descriptive. Love the vids. Thanks again! Great fish
Those Jefferey bodies are nice. It's amazing what you can catch on plastic bodies.
Loved the video! Definitely going to stay tuned
Caught a bass once in front of three DNR guys with those spots - they say it's essentially skin cancer for fish, doesn't hurt them though, just causes discolorations. Mine looked like a leopard!
Interesting, I'm glad to hear it doesn't harm them!
Wicked session mate! The black spots could be parasites maybe? Seen it on chub caught from rivers. Keep the vids coming, there not repetitive 👍🏻.
Thanks! I just hope they don't harm the fish. They sure seem to be healthy!
Peelindrag no the fish seem to deal with them okay if you’re catching them they are still feeding so they must be okay. ;)
Love the vids keep up the good work
Great video 🎣
I sure wish I could reliably ice fish for bass without having to deal with northern, lol. Good work.
This is one of the only lakes I know that you can do that! Thanks for watching!

That sounds about right. Very interesting, thanks for the comment! Hopefully it doesn't bother them.
@@peelindrag113 no problem. From what I read, it doesn't harm the fish. I caught a 22 inch Largemouth once that had splotches, healthy as could be :)
Bas galore
Nice fish looks like a fish birthmark.
Very nice!
Can't wait to get out on the ice
Black spots normally mean that the fish are very healthy in a good environment. Lots of protein and plentiful forages.
Good to know! Thanks for the comment Eric!
You should tie your own icefishing jigs!
I may have to give that a try sometime. Thanks for the suggestion!

i was rased in bay city also, essexville

Nice video bro where do you get your flags they sure are helpful?
I think I got mine at Cabela's. You can also order them online. I love mine!
I was just up in Cadilac this weekend and caught about 30 keeper perch and lots of walleye but only 2 Pike. Do any fishing up there?
Wow that's awesome! I fished Houghton and Mitchell a few times this year, but haven't been out at the right times.
What lake?
Nice videos dude! I'm in SE Michigan and a buddy and I are heading up North this weekend. Do you know of any good trout lakes up there?
Unfortunately I don't know much about the trout lakes. They have been getting some nice browns and Burt lake though.
Bout how many inches of ice did ya have that day? Hard to tell

What are some decent lakes for pike in northern Michigan by traverse city
Lake trout

nice video! what model snowmobile does your buddy ride?
I ride a 2004 Arctic Cat f7, the Polaris pull over was a gift a few years ago from a past girlfriend. At the time I was riding an XC 700.
8" in Brighton area right now
Is it raining up there?
A little bit, at least its cold rain!
Them some lmb megs there.

Do you not worry about beating your simms up on the ice or if you break through the ice your waders filling up and drowning?

@@matthewschutt7409 I use cheaper bibs, which are essentially insulated and water resistant overalls.

nice
How many times a week are you gonna post
I try to do 1-2 a week but it just depends how well I do when I go out.
Sounds good
How did the bears game end up btw?
I rarely catch bass through the ice. What type of areas do they go to?
Deeper channels and holes, anywhere from 10-20ft. If you find one there are usually more around.

Northern Michigan has lots of safe lakes.
