I feel the first poll is asking an entirely different genre of questions from the second poll.
If you were asked “who do you respect more a politician you heavily disagree with or your friendly and helpful, yet poor neighbour?” Almost everyone will choose the neighbour. Respect isn’t about who has more power for most people, it’s about someone they feel they can trust, connect with or look up to. In that question, the farmers image is far better than the CEO’s.
Then the question of “who would you rather be?” The conclusion becomes much closer. Now, they have to take much more into account.

This might be late to comment but this is what JRR Tolkien warned about in The Lord of the Rings. If you have read the books then you know what happened to the hobbits that didnt want to participate and fight the evil, the evil came to them and when the four hobbits from the fellowship came back, they had to fight to get their home back. It was a shame Peter Jackson didn't add this to the movies.

Being rich changes your house and cars and maybe where you eat, but none of that actually means quality, just spending more and consooming even more. And any “conservative”, conservatard person who is of the establishment, essentially is always paid opposition, they cannot speak the real truth, cannot speak against shareholders or those above them, there is no difference. With farming you can produce your own food and drinks and know what youre eating, know where it came from etc. no plastics, no jabbicide, no grass-fed bullshit. Conservatives can just group together and form their own militia and economy, after a certain point there is no way to fix the system from within (without extreme violence, which lets face it, people wont do until life gets extremely uncomfortable). I always assumed the farm larp involved joining a large conservative community. The community can defend itself, and grow in influence until it replaces the government. If i was in America i would probably join the Mormons

    • @TwoBs
      @TwoBs Před rokem

Nah, conservatives won’t do that. At least, American conservatives won’t. Let’s be real here...
They’ll just grow accustomed to the changes with each new generation. Just as it’s been for the last several decades with each new gen coming in, growing up in the “new” way of things, and seeing it as being life. It’s called a long game for a reason, and right now, conservatives are being beat at it over and over … they’re already several decades behind.
It’s a fantasy at this point to think that they will actually wake up and group together to form such on their own anytime soon. Plus, it’s not like the government will actually allow for that to happen … Ruby Ridge, anyone? They always get involved. Largely to keep the rest in line as a way to say “See? This is what happens.” and the majority will absolutely step back in line. Just as they always do.
Alex is right. The only way to actually get anywhere is to stick with it and work one’s way up. Isolating themselves in small groups here and there isn’t going to cut it just as it hasn’t done over the years when many have tried it. They’re casted out from society and the majority largely ignore them. They get nowhere.
It’s a young utopian dream at this point to think it will ever happen, and that’s not me just being an older doomer about it, but it’s just how shit goes, has gone, and will continue to go … and nothing is going to really change that at this point, notably if more keep splintering off and hiding off to themselves.
By large, the farm larp (from what I’ve observed online) comes from a bunch of young people who may feel disenfranchised by the system and ignored, but aren’t actually contributing to anything in society as a whole. The majority of conservatives in America (not by how they label themselves, but how they vote and what they vote for) are older, have families, are raising kids in the new generation who are now accustomed to it, work, and don’t have the time to sit and retweet acrylic oil paintings of farms online. Those are the people that you’d have to win over to actually enact any sort of change or get anywhere in terms of magically creating a new economy … I’d even wager a large portion of the people posting online about the farm larp are merely going through a phase and in 5 years will be dreaming of doing something else and will be posting about it. The percentage of people to actually go through with it outside of the internet to buy land in a rural area and actually farm is an even smaller part of that group.
The larp honestly reminds me of the whole cottage-core aesthetic and tradwife shit I’ve seen in women’s circles over the last 5-6 years. Something that gained traction and interested many women …. but now the majority of them have reverted back to old ways or gone on to chase some new aesthetic. The farm stuff is going to go the same direction. Bet.
That’s all it is at the core of it all that’s attracting certain types of people… it’s an aesthetic. The farm larp is an aesthetic … change my mind lol, and it’s simply not a feasible one in the long run. The majority simply won’t do it in the end. It’s been getting bad for a long time, but with each new wave being born, they suck it up and deal with it for the sake of their families.
      > “after a certain point, there is no way to fix the system from within”
The thing is, _when_ is that point? _What_ is that point? How bad will it need to get before conservatives finally do something? Because at the rate conservatives are going right now, it’s not going to be in any of our lifetimes, that’s for sure. That’s not a blackpill take, that’s just reality … because the majority of conservatives are content where they are. They may whine and complain, kick up a lot of dust, but they always settle. Again, it’s been like this for decades. If conservatives want most people to take them serious, these larps and dreams of a utopian conservative commune aren’t it right now.

it does sound nice to get away from everyone else, but unfortunately that means you just play into the hands of the ones in power while screwing over your ability to project power in the long term. it is more difficult to do something about it, but the easy way isn't the good way to take things in life, as sometimes you do need to do challenging things, but don't bother if something is too challenging for you as it usually isn't worth the effort of trying to "look cool"

Update: So, I definitely agree about the whole voluntarily outing yourself and separating from society being a bad thing. Due to the scriptures, I believe we are living in the last days. A great hail storm is going to wipe out all crops on earth at some point. Things are going to get worse before they get better, but they will be better. My passion for agriculture isn't idealistic, it's due to experience helping my uncle on his farm growing up. A lot of technological advancements are first implemented in agriculture even though people consider it an archaic practice. When this society collapses, there's going to need to be farmers n whatnot to build a new one. I'm not exactly a doomer and I don't plan on removing myself or my influence from society. I think it's pretty profound that you're capable of discerning these things. There's a lot of confusing messaging going on and it's extremely intentional. Good video 🙏

Realistically though, the institutions bar conservatives out now, for the most part. I understand and mostly agree with the point, but I do not see how or what conservatives could really do without basically being starved out (canceled) or outright killed, besides make families basically. I suppose the exceptional, or at least the competent could try something, but many people including myself are nothing special and cannot get influence. The liberals were tolerant and let the progressives/commies in. The progressives are not tolerant.

  • @ethanthomas6731

Thoughtful take, but I think it falls short a bit.
The farm is an idea that you can be immune to the uncertainty we face in many ways-- inflation, a bad economy, cancel culture, DEI, government-mandated lockdowns, endocrine disruptors in our food, and perhaps most importantly, having to boycott half the stuff at the grocery store to avoid funding the enemy.
Yes, we need lawyers, academics, and others to fight the good fight, but speaking as somebody who wanted to go into cryptography or some math-heavy tech field, it just doesn't make any sense to invest in a fickle job market specializing in theory when I have no idea if I'm going to get drafted for WWIII or if we're headed for government-induced stagflation over the next decade, let alone whether employers in my field are going to look past the fact that I'm not a diverse hire.
As a farmer, you're a support class-- and there's no reason you can't have a farm and decide to stop farming at some point and do something else, or have a spouse who does farm work and another who goes out and has a normal job.
The other thing is, running away is a perfectly valid response, at least in the short term, since we're not exactly fighting a skilled terrorist group. We're looking at a bunch characterized by vanity and greed. They're going to tear each other apart and drive people away on their own.

I don't want to escape from society entirely, but the point of being off grid is freedom from it. Meaning I have enough self reliance not to be dependent on a system that I can cut me off on a political whim, with the advent of digital currencies, monitored via internet or phone, numerous bureaucracies, and oppressive ideologies rampant in today's culture. It's more than likely that even with gainful resistance that society will enter a cyberpunk dystopia if it doesn't outright collapse from it's own weight first.
This also doesn't mean I will be against collectivization either to stall the excesses of modern living. You can be a farmer with any modern amenity you'd like. It takes planning and hard work to achieve.

Ive not had the farm fantasy but the small tribe in the nature in africa fantasy... Even tho i know i would get eaten by a lion first time going hunting...
And ive had that fantasy not cus i want to escape from society but cus my life is surrounded by technology and all these safett walls .. and id wanna feel danger... I want to suffer to survive...
    Now life just feels pointless
And i know living so primally i know i would prefer this over that... But atleast i could feel something

You ask conservatives to grow a brain when data shows that the more intelligent you are, the less conservative leaning you become. As to why that is, well, if you knew, you woudn't be what you call a "social conservatist". Very amusing video non the less.

I hope your not trying to suggest that the more intelligent you get, the less right wing you get. For that is blatantly false statement.

If you're talking about Anglo countries, sure I could somewhat agree. They are completely useless and incapable of attracting anyone. The scenario in mainland Europe however is quite different, there are much more intelligent conservatives (nationalists as we call them) who are slowly regaining positions of power... it's going to take a while but I like the direction its going. Italy, Sweden and soon Spain and Slovakia too, will join Poland and Hungary in the good fight against the established Brussels order. Though there is a lot of work to be done to undo the progressive mess, it will take a few mandates at least.
Anglo countries however need better right wing representation, if they want any chance to fight at all.

Yes that’s why Eastern Asian countries, in which East Asians routinely have the highest test scores and the highest IQs out of anywhere else in the world, are highly liberal and progressive societies, like China. 🙄

Is it some recent trend to dehumanise people with opposing political views or something? Liberals think there smarter than conservatives and I recently saw a video of conservatives saying that liberals tended to be more feminine and submissive. Honestly I think both sides need to stop this pseudo-science nonsense.
