Good demo. Everytime I watch a traditional art vid, I see people downing it like it won't work or its fake. Let's get this straight it isn't the style,it's the stylist. It's the instructor you have, if they are clear on which technique is the art and which is combative then you'll be a competitent martial artist and fighter. I'm not going to put my resume into this, because what's needed is common sense in these arguements not ego. No fight will look exactly like training.

Not necessarily, I was just playing the devil advocate to demonstrate how ridiculous some advocates of Japanese marital arts sound when they attack Korean martial arts in the same manner. I have studied Karate, Taekwondo, Kuk Sool Won, Muy Thai, and Krav Maga. I think every martial art has something to offer and each has its own set of weaknesses. I just love and teach Korean martial arts and I also think they deserve respect as do all other marital arts.

Does it REALLY take a genius to figure out that she's not really throwing him. He's jumping into those 'throws' for the visual effect. He outweighs her easily by 50 pounds, if not more and should be able to quite easily resist those throw attempts. The joint locks are another story. If you don't just go with them, you'll have those joints dislocated.

Chris Bowman Uhh, you were aware it was more like an exhibition/training session, not a REAL fight scenario with serious resistance, right?..right?

Kuk Sool Won is very legit as a martial art ( check your history for when Kuk Sool, Hapkido and Hwarang Do split ).. Master Cherowitz is very legit herself. I've trained with her and Master Sims both and you would be hard pressed to find a more skilled or dedicated set of martial artists. You just have to look back over the years at major martial art magazines to find many articles about them.

Nonsense. The various joint twists are not unique Aikido property; all martials have them. Come on, people have only so many joints, and there are only so many ways to turn them. This style is not any more "fake" then e.g. Aikido is.

Kinda thinking that if he had turned that waist lock at 0:58 into a German suplex, she wouldn't be laughing quite as much. But he didn't.

Try it on a 350lbs powerlifting maniac. I know first hand the majority simple would not work, it really IS about strength until you get into the really high ranks and the point were you have been training 10+ years and have the technique to perfection on 1000s of different sized and strength people.
