Imagine an anime scene where the heroes finally start to gain the upper hand against a villain, then they all start to glow/power up/understand their master’s teachings and beat his ass to 60 fps animation and the series’ main theme. And suddenly it is cut short and they get insta-bodied.

This theme is such a double-edged sword. On one hand, it boosts your morale like crazy. On the other, a failed Fatalis hunt is the most soul-crushing defeat.

Its the soundtrack that really put the hype on that line, feels so on point
Excitable A-lister survives Fatalis’s ultimate fire cone because he ate for Felyne Moxie
This is the only logical explanation
To whoever:
- Grapple his head early during his sweeping flame attack for an easy weaken and a bit of head part damage as a bonus. Depending on the weapon, you need to adjust which side of the head you're grappling to so you don't get knocked into his flame by your chosen weapon's finishing animation.
- Focus attacks on his head whenever it is possible, because damaging other parts for any other reason than to drop his head down just pushes his phases quicker and gives you less wiggle room to break his head at least once before his psycho mode activates. -Breaking his head once weakens his flames, and the second time weakens them further. If you're an average player, you will likely find the fight too difficult without at least one break, though two is recommended if you're the type to really struggle. Part breaker is your ally here.
- I have found that if I focus almost exclusively on his head in phase 1, then binder him and use roaming on his WEAKENED head while he's binded, I break the head before roaming even runs out of ammo, provided I'm using Heavy Artillery 2. This method of playing around his early phases relatively safely doesn't drastically affect my kill time, and ensures at least one head break prior to the barrier activation.
- Get your fire resist as high as possible, not only to reduce his damage, but to prevent yourself from burning ailment that he was constantly getting. It doesn't seem like much, but it does add up and can screw you over if you get fire blighted at the wrong moment.
He's frustrating, but just believe in yourself. I hoped my advice helped a bit. I struggled for over one hundred runs before winning, and now he's actually easy for me (took me long enough). Let his rewards motivate you. Many people will try to flex his gear and weapons that they got by spamming Plunderblade, while saying they beat him when they really didn't. But far fewer are going to be able to show off his sweet pendants (there are three associated with beating him and they're all fantastic). So get out there, beat Fatalis, and stand out from the faker plebs. This random nobody on the internet believes in you, God damn it!
Part breaker only affects the first break, the second break is just pure damage

A couple of notes to add:
- Fatalis's head does not take break damage when he is bound (by a binder). I learnt this watching CantaPerMe's attempts at slaying Fatalis.
- The best and the most simple tip I can give is to know fatalis's moveset by heart. Understand where to position to be able to attack him while he is doing moves, or to exploit gaps in his attack patterns for free damage, flinch shots, healing, etc.
- BRING DUSTS OF LIFE, the ingredients to craft it, and pick up the free dust of lifes in the chest. Most players don't bother, and you'd be surprised how much this helps others as well as yourself, as you have only 5 lives.
- Bring ancient potions to the fight, and the crafting materials for it. With that, you will have 21 full insta heals. If you don't know how to get materials for ancient potions, look up videos about farming kelbi horns. Time spent healing piles up in this fight, and you almost always want to be at full health since he 2 shots you most of the time.
- Bring farcasters. Once you get to his most dangerous phase (after you pull down barricade), you will be out of potions/dusts of life/etc. You want to make sure you are fully stocked up for this phase, as this is when he is most dangerous.
- Understand that you will fail a lot on this fight before you succeed. Have the mentality to improve on your mistakes, rather than be salty about the fight.

@@jackwood6967 Just a quick thing to mention regarding your claim on the first advice. When either downed by a part break, binded by a ballistae binder or paralyzed, you CANNOT break a part break threshold. You CAN finish off that whole threshold leaving it at 1 damage. Thereafter, if you hit his head with anything (weapon or slinger) his head will go through that threshold. Whether or not it is the one where it's head get's broken depends on how far you had gotten until then.
I have tested this via a monster health mod so I can confirm this.
Proof of a hero will always fill me with such strength that when it played in the video I may or may not have brought my drink up too fast and covered myself with Pepsi....

One good way is heavy artillery skill, which nearly doubles the power of all siege weapons, including the dragonator.
I beat them with a gunlance. Interesting fact is that their big fire cone, if you block it, it actually makes a cone of safe area behind you. So if my teammates were out of position, I basically jammed my shield into Fatalis's mouth to stop the attack entirely, wheeze.

I love how for this fight we finally get to hear proof of a hero again and it fits so well

Now I say this with no exaggeration, Fatalis is the best fight in iceborne by far imo. Honestly the last 3 elders that were added have been fantastic. Safi, alatreon (aside from that DPS check) and this fucking deranged reptile
man i hate alatreon because of that element damage check and you can't do anything about it if you fail to achieve it (and it spend most of the time flying), but here fatalis if you didn't break it's horn you can still do something even if blue fire can one-shot, you can still dodge it.
@@miairuha I mean the dps check isn’t super hard to do, it’s just more annoying if anything. I don’t know about anyone else but i use insect glaive to manage it. Long reach, mounting, and good elemental damage. Other than that dumb check I think he’s a fun fight tbh.

You can kill him tanking 2 escaton judgement so the dps is literally no problem at all
Alat's dps check calculates elemental damage differently, in that while slow weapons do less elemental damage to the monster's overall hp, they won't have any problems meeting the dps check.

Breaking its horn once stops him from using blue fire to automatically one shot you all the time. But, that doesn't mean it's flames are still formidable.

I have a story to share about Fatalis here. Three friends and I, always liked the monster Hunter series, but never got around to playing it. About a year or so ago, we all got the game about a month before we had some exams. We got to the point just before Velkhana's fight, then stopped because tests. After this, we went on a mad rampage. We only stopped to eat and sleep. It took us 3 days to get to Fatalis. Then we all fuckin died
Just a few pointers in case you need them:
You can clutch claw onto his head or chest safely when he points his fire downwards. That seems to be the one attack that murders everyone because they think their mantles can take the strain.
Alatreon and Raging Brachy weapons are probably your best options against him, barring Fatalis weapons.
If you can dodge roll with your weapon out, find a puddle to get rid of it faster!
You need to be on the opposite side of where his head is during his circle of fire in phase 3. Being just in front of his chest will still get you smouldered.
Focus that head HARD. You don’t want to fight him in phase 3 without both head breaks.
And finally, Health Regen augments will make your overall experience comfier.

I think they said this was the last big update so I don't think they'll be adding anymore monster or arch tempers. they'll do smaller update and festivals with new even quest but no more new fights I think.
The final update has now been announced, safi will now be scaling with the players meaning he is now soloable, most event quest will be available at all time and tickets for layered armor/event armor will now be craftable. This also means we will not be seeing any more AT monsters which is sad...
This video series made me realise just how much of a challenge this guy is going to be.

Being a person who lives by the BONK (Hammer and HH main) not being able to KO Fatalis is definitely a bummer. Because nothing is more entertaining than getting a triple knock down and knock out chain on a monster and absolutely running a train on them. Even poor Safi can't stop it.

I was a long sword user and I kept dying to him so I was forced to use great sword that I didn’t know how to use XD
I killed him after I knew how to play it and it felt good killing him it was best feeling had in a while. XD
