What heartbreaking ATP loss will you never forget?
Federe losing to delpotro 2009 us open
Domi losing to Daniil. Idk, that just really sunk with me for a while
ATP: London 2012 final.
Grand Slam: Roland Garros 2011 final.
Jamie Murray and Salisbury atp cup vs australia
Probably Federer losing to Djokovic in the 2011 USO. I love both players, but that was a killer for Roger.

Monfils' loss against Djokovic was even worse than it looked : he was on a 12 win-streak, and 0-16 against Djokovic ; it was the perfect match to keep the win streak alive and finally beat Djokovic. In the second set, he was barely hanging on during the whole set, saving break point after break point, and finally managed to get a few match points.
yeah for me this one feels like the worse one
Fogninis gotta be the most heartbreaking imagine choking to Bernard tomic lmao
Tomic on a good day is a real threat, problem is, that day is so rare lol.
I am more surprised tomic was able to pull his shit together for a week and win a tournament
#Sam Wit
Tomic is actually very clutch though when he tries. He is a real fighter when he is not tanking and is trying to win. Look at his last three matches in AO qualifying, he saved match point in one and won two last set tiebreaks!

EDIT: 1. Djokovic (Madrid Semi-Final 2009)

Nadal: Australian open fina 2017
Zverev: Us open final 2020
Mmmmm I think 2012 final was more heartbreaking for Rafa than 2017. I just think that in 2012 he threw everything at Novak while in 2017 i don't think he expected to reach the final when he started the tournament
@@paulotorres5022 I agree. That was his one chance to take on novak at the AO before the plague of injuries came along. Now he cant do much against novak on a hard court, let alone win in best of 5 at the AO against Novak.

From the Madrid final, you can tell why they can dominate tennis with Federer for more than 15 years. They were just 20 years old at that time. Incredible skill and mentality

I don't think a lot of newer Fed fans realize that Rome 2006 is the right answer for Federer. This was his only 5 setter against Nadal on clay ever and one of the biggest sources of his mental block against Nadal. If he converted one of those match points, he would've had much more confidence against Nadal in future matches, probably a better h2h, more clay titles, and more GS titles overall. Not to mention, his ridiculous 2006 record would've been even better.
Good point! They both played an amazing match! Those matchpoints( he was so tight! Saw the whole match live! And on that matchpoint for Nadal, someone yelled out, on a ball from Nadal, that looked out, to be honest! And that threw Federer of!
Just one good forehand. Just to shot straigth forewards but he missed it. I forgot this shot and it makes it even hard to swallow.
With that said, what is worst, losing with 2 match points or losing with a 2 sets and a break lead?
He would gladly take a blowout in that 2006 match if it meant Wimbledon 2019 back.
Nadal - Djokovic Madrid match shown in the video was a Semifinal and it was played in 2009 not 2006. Incredible match!
Two interesting pairs that are each other's heartbreaking losses:
1. Federer-Nadal
2. Tsitsipas-Rublev
Coincidence? I think not.
rublev does not play like nadal
@@loocas6448 I think you've missed the point.
@@loocas6448 irrelevant
I dont really get it because neither tsitsipas or rublev are close to being the best in the world
I still find it a fantastic thing in this sport (especially when comparing to a sport as popular as football) how despite suffering such hard defeats or going through such tough matches, players will still hug each other and have good words for one another at the end of it, sometimes even feeling sorry for having beaten the opponent!
Well Tsitsipas just lost the 2021 Barcelona final to Nadal, after having had Championship Point and Nadal hitting the netcord in that point. Poor guy was devastated.
For me diego's most heartbreaking loss was Cordoba's final against Garin... Altough great vĂdeo
Contra goffin en la laver cup, que dolor.

yeah i don't see how vienna was that heartbreaking. he was a set up, but he didn't even get to serve out the match at any point
if atp could include grand slams, i think medvedev losing to nadal in the us open final 2019 was so heartbreaking considering how he almost made the comeback
This didn't age well. AO 2022 YIKES. Poor Medvedev against Nadal
The US Open final was full of joy but if you were on zverevâs side, that was the most heartbreaking loss Iâve ever seen...
Rafa alone has delivered 25% of these heartbreaks (Djokovic, Federer, Medvedev, Zverev and PCB). Master of comebacks...
Not really a Master of combebacks...
The ones against Roger and Novak were literally fine margins and anyone could have won, while the other 3 with Zverev PCB and Medvedev were more a chocke from them than a comeback for Rafa....
But alright everyone can look at it in a way they feel comfortable with.....
@vuk8315 agreed well said
In the match between Roger and Stan, you could see in Roger's eyes in the end that he was unconfortable with the attitude that Mirka had during the match, kinda of felling ashamed for what she did to Wawrinka. Super weird

Man you guys really need grand slam footage for this video. Iâm sure Dimitrov literally already forgot about that Sydney 2016 loss; probably is a bit more hung up on, say, the Australian Open 2017 SF loss. And Iâm 100% sure the big 3 are more upset about grand slam/Olympic losses
Best comment. The Big 3 ones are tough, tough losses, but people want to see the GS matches.
yeah if you take slams for the big 3 if would be:
For Federer 2019 Wimbledon final against Djokovic
For Rafa 2012 AO final against Djokovic
For Djokovic probably RG Final 2015 against Stan
@@paulotorres5022 So Rafa himself said Wimbledon 2007 was his saddest loss in the moment, but Iâm sure now that heâs avenged that he probably is more upset about AO 2012. As for Djokovic, he said his Olympic losses were the most painful, but if weâre going grand slam losses Iâd imagine it has to be RG 2013 or RG 2015. And Federerâs is a pretty obvious choice, although itâs possible he was more upset about one of his Olympic losses too.
@@SJ-di5zu yeah I agree with you. And yes probably RG 2013 is right there. I just think RG 2015 is a bit more upsetting because after defeating Nadal, he had to be the favorite to win it all. Also by losing that match he never knew if he would be champion again. Same as it happened with Federer. Had he not won the year Soderling defeated Nadal, he would have never been the champion.

Thats a really great video!
Domi's loss against Daniil still hurts me till this day. Idk, he seemed okay with that loss tho, so its fine to me
Literally I was more heartbroken than he seemingly was. I still can't get over it.
@@yoanapetrova3767 exactlyyyy
Yeah, he was okay with it.. I believe one of the reasons is that Domi is not that focused on the ATP ranking.. he always says his main goal is to win slams.. (and he ha also always said before the US Open title that winning a slam would be a much bigger dream for him than being world No. 1)
Domi was still nervous in the ATP Finals final though.. and didn't play his best.. not bad but not his best either. his coach Nicolas Massu said that Domi was okay with the loss.. and he said after the Australian Open final loss last year that it was his by far worst loss.. he has never been as long sad about a tennis match as he was after that one.. because it was a slam, because he was so close to winning it and because it was already his 3rd slam final.. Domi is super tough on the court, but a sensitive guy in private.. he said in his new Austrian documentary that it would possibly have been a career end for him, if he had lost the US Open final as well.. he's not sure if he would have mentally recovered from it.. and that's also why he was so nervous and tight in that match.. and played below his usual level.. but luckily he never gave up and finally won đ even though it required coming back from two sets behind and winning a 5th set tie break after hours of fighting despite already cramping
@@JasminGardenia yes i know that his main focus is the grand slam and i hope that this year, it would be HIS YEAR to really shine and show the true talent of Dominic Thiem!!
@@JasminGardenia I am a big fan of Thiem, but the fact that he was thinking of retiring if he lost to Zverev in the US Open final makes me a bit worried about his mentality. It makes me feel like a whole year, or even his whole career could spiral downwards so easily after one tough loss. I hope he develops the kind of mental toughness that allows him to win 6-7+ slams
I remember in an interview, Stan had mentioned that the loss 4:00 is the toughest in his career. He could not sleep on that night.
If this video puts in a grand slam...

Nothing similar to the video content but ut would be so great to have a court level view avaible ( like having different angles ) so much impressive to watch from players view
You missed Leonardo Mayer against Federer in Shanghai. I felt very sorry for Leonardo.
I would say that for Rafa it was the 2012 Australian Open final when he was up a break in the fifth set against Djokovic and blew a sitter pass. That one hurt. His nerves got the better of him.
Ik were only counting atp matches but imo bustas most heartbreaking match was that match in AO against Nishikori a few years back
If we count Grand slams, Dimitrov toughest loss was against Nadal at 2017 sf
I feel like carreno busta's loss in doha against coric would be the most heartbreaking. He lost like so many match points
Wish they did grand slams so matches like US open 2020 final(Zverev loss) and 2009 AO(Federer loss, he actually cried) final would be included.

Beautiful that Tsitsipas and Rublev own each other's worst heartbreak
I love tennis đŸ so much
I somehow miss the Federer vs. Djokovic match where Federer had already a matchpoint but couldn't win. Also, in terms of drama, Djokovic vs. Thiem at Australien Open 2020 could be mentioned here where Thiem already looked like the new Grand Slam champion but lost in the 5th set, or Thiem vs. Zverev at USOpen 2020 where Zvererv looked like the clear winner in set 1-3 and even 4 and also in set 5 it was not clear who's going to win it

I looking forward for Melbourne and a great season of 2021 đ
In grand slam 8-7 40-15 is enough to bring back bad memories for me
According to Fed it's 09 US Open to Del Potro....but this is only the ATP. Still a great video.
