Metro Transit: Kada Creative at 35W & Lake Street Station

With a little help from the neighbors, a St. Paul-based artist recently finished covering large, grey walls at the I-35W & Lake Street Station with a colorful mural the community can be proud of.
Community organizations helped select the mural design and St. Paul-based artist Kada Goalen for the public arts project. Goalen enlisted the help of two emerging artists and Stacia Goodman Mosaics to add mosaic design elements.
During an Open Streets event in June, more than 50 people also helped paint one of the walls, a first for a Metro Transit mural project.
The mural is part of an ongoing effort to improve conditions at stations through public art. Covering blank spaces in art has been shown to deter graffiti at other sites.
