      @SaltNBattery Před 2 měsíci +2

      I wish he was more assertive with people like this, it's a difficult conversation to have but I'm 90% sure he could've left there with that dog.
      I've seen other trainers do similar things. "Listen, both of you are miserable. There's nothing wrong with this dog, all the "problems" he has are your fault. He's not aggressive at all, he's an intact working dog. His energy needs are too high for what you're able to give him. He needs to work. His life would be 100% better with someone else, you'd be happier too. It's not fair to him, or you. Please let me find him a great home with someone who will give him an amazing life and purpose that he deserves. I'll buy him if I have to."
      This dog would be an absolute dream to so many people, myself included. Doberman's are my second favorite dog, after GSDs, followed by Border Collies, Mals and Boxers. Unfortunately, most people aren't equipped or competent enough to own working dogs. Most people shouldn't own them, they just like the idea of having a "remote control" dog that looks cool. When in reality, it takes hundreds, thousands of hours of work to train and focus their instincts. It's unfortunate so many people like this woman get them when they have no business doing so.
      Find her some kind of Pomeranian or better yet, a cat.

      No, she's trainable. The dog has had a couple of years of reinforcement. She's had 30 years of reinforcement of never enforcing anything on anyone - it takes longer to build a spine in a human who doesn't know she has one. But it can be done 100%.

    This is a perfect example of why dogs sometimes need to be rehomed. He’s a good dog but needs someone who is willing to interact with him. Such a sweet boy! She made progress at the end, hopefully she keeps working with him. I understand that an excited dog can be scary if someone doesn’t understand it’s an accident and not aggression.
    I worked with a lab that the owner was arrested for domestic abuse because the dog was so excitable and had no manners that he had broken the wife’s nose and jaw. While arresting the husband, the dog got out and jumped at the arresting officer and broke his nose. They released the husband and apologized for the misunderstanding. She called me and started classes that day. PSA train your dogs when they’re puppies and you will have an easier time of it. Pay for dog training if you don’t know how to train them. Dog training is cheaper that a destroyed couch or an ER visit for bolting out into the street.

It's called responsibility. And I love her so much, I'd never just keep her locked up. My love for that dog is greater than any fear I'm facing. And today, after 9 months, I bought a prong collar for her finally, educated myself well on how to use it and we're both so much better now. And because of people like her who don’t understand dogs ( and don’t even care to learn) a lot of dogs are put down and will deteriorate a certain breed reputation (large powerful breeds especially)... how was she whining “he’s attacking me” it made me🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ wtf she has no idea what an attack looks like... and what had made me mad is that she didn’t take him out for over 24 h ... 🤬😡 I go out with my dogs like 3 4 times a day... she doesn’t deserve that dog
      And about that exam ... here in Germany when you want to own a dog with “higher aggressive potential” (how they say) both you and the dog need to pass an exam in order to keep him ... they even come to your house to see how the dog behave and you also need to pay like 1000€ per year like a tax witch for the other breeds it’s 50€
      Sorry for the long comment but I’ve gotten a lil mad ...

I've got 8 months old Weimaraner and I did research everything before buying him, I rearranged my home for him before his arrival and made my son and husband sit and listen to be sure they understand some basic rules but I still think that breeder shouldn't sell him to me as he didn't know any of that. I used to have a pack of 7 dogs as well, a GSD, a Dobe, a Staff, 2 Pits, a Blue Heeler and a Fox Terrier. We lived in and used to bike through on of the roughest neighbourhoods in the city no problem, even with all the stray dogs roaming about and uncontrolled pet dogs. Biking through the park was even funner for them because I could give them the "go on!" command and they could run free like flying furball crazies instead of staying at heel behind me.
