As of now Genie is doing rather well and has developed a more advanced array of linguistic and social abilities, however, she is still unable to fully acquire a language.

Because there's a sensitive period to adquire language and she missed it. People learn other languages later in life but as you said, those are OTHER languages. They already learned a first one and developed that ability when they were kids.
Yo genie was abused for how many years she can't talk because her brain isn't fully developed yes she's doing better but it's fucked up that the scientists who helped her were ripped away from her by her fucked up mother who too knew genie was being beaten etc got custody of her

In case anyone is curious about the first example (unit 731), and you are itching to know more detail (graphic detail as it happens!!), then find a film called "The Men Behind The Sun". Its a Japanese made film I think and is also subtitled but if you can endure that its worth watching (even to know you never want to see it again).

anessajohnson i think most of the edited fakeness tends to happen more on the more modern celebrity pages among other things as opposed to historical things tho i agree you have to make sure either way so you don’t get screwed the best bet is to use websites about the subject you’re working on that are unable to be edited as i’m sure you know also the pages that are more dedicated to the subject tend to give you more info then wiki from what i noticed from my shortcut taking youth lol
