This is a great model. The UCS ships are too big for me too but the sleekness of your model gets the details across with less bricks so well. Can't wait to see the review, it's great to show off cool builds! Even if they aren't your own.
Same, that was another design compromise. I tried very much to not use the anti studs but it just wasn’t possible with the outlining. I even ordered 1x3 inverted tiles, but it took away too much stability- I really wish we had more inverted tile selections
Awesome design!! I bought the 2021 tie fighter and modified it into the tie interceptor, and it looks pretty good! But this is a whole new level for just $10 more!
These are such a nice scale. Way better looking than the crap Lego comes out with nowadays, but not quite as insane as what Jerac comes up with. What an exceptional middle ground. Great work!
This is such an awesome MOC man. I actually just bought the Fang Fighter VS Interceptor on sale like two days ago before I saw this video so I'm curious how that one will hold up compared to this beauty, definitely wanna try my hand at this one too though. Keep up the great work!
The long plates are inevitably going to be shaky, I think LEGO designs always have this. Another great design, well done! I like the fact you are open about the compromises in the designs as well. All design is a balancing act of compromises.
100%, there are always many compromises with each ship. This was a good opportunity to show my thought process and also show an easy mod for those who favor strict accuracy
That looks incredible! I think it could be worth widening the struts that support the wings by a brick height on either side to capture the shape of the ship a bit better. It looks just ever so slightly too square sat there to me 😅
I think that’s more a product of the wings being too thick, a stud wide, whereas they should be thinner but it’s not possible with bricks. If it were possible to be thinner it would look farther apart. I was actually shocked when I measured all the dimensions and they all came out at 1/43 scale.
Your builds are always amazing! I'd love to see if you can make a v-19 torrent at this size while keeping the simultaneous s-foil transformation from the official set
Dang those wings look great. I was going to use your cockpit design and make my own wings for an intercepter but I may end up buying those instructions 👀. Great stuff as always man!
I built your X-wing in Red 5 colors with some slight external modifications. I'm in love with your version it's perfect and the leftover pieces went to improving my Arc-170 wing mechanism. It was perfect to be able to have the best of both ships this way. Great build all around. These Tie Fighters are looking amazing. I wonder what's next in store 👀
I recently converted my 75300 into a Tie Interceptor by Hachiroku24 on CZcams, but after seeing this, I definitely plan on building this and your normal Tie eventually.
I love Lego and Star Wars but I don't really watch MOC videos. But I clicked on this and now I've watched a bunch and subscribed. Your sense of humour in your editing is the cherry. Great work. Would you do other sets outside SW? New Lamborghini, for example?
Thank you, I love hearing this! Glad to hear the SW clips Im cutting in are getting some appreciation haha. I’m planning to stick to SW for now. I built the small Ferrari for my son and it was an amazing build, but I know very little about cars to be a good MOC builder for them
I really love your style, do you have any plans to make more mocs of other ships in your scale system in the future? My mind goes to stuff like a Y-wing, a-wing, heck, I would love to see your take on a playscale, UCS detailed star destroyer. Love your videos!
@@BAUFmanBricksAwesome, I can’t wait! It’s obvious that you spend a lot of time on these designs. I don’t see many others (if any) doing this style of build and it’s been a big inspiration for my own ships. I especially love what you did for the Falcon.
Maybe a SPHA-T farther in the future once I get around to the prequel ships. I haven’t crunched the numbers but I think the landing craft may be too big even for my scale
@@BAUFmanBricks ok if I’d have to pick a backup second design to go with I would look toward the AT-TE I know that Brick Vault have tackled this but it doesn’t have the “all terrain function” meaning the back doesn’t bend where it should. I think a good place to start if you wanted to look into this is by observing the “I built a suspended train in lego” video which could give enough hints as to how to tackle the bending and locking function when you need the back to be sturdy. Also maybe another way is to have lego gears perform the bend function so you would have to turn a crank to bend the At-Te
I’ve had that request many times, and I keep saying after I do some more original trilogy ships. BUT with the rumors of the Arc coming in 2025 that may move up my timeline as I like to modify ships. It’ll depend on if that new ships has pieces I can use
Another fantastic model! Great Work! I know you have said before that you focus on Original Trilogy era sets, but I see the Bad Batch Attack Shuttle behind you. Any thoughts for an Ultimate Playscale design? 👀 I like Lego's official model, but the interior leaves a lot to be desired.
Agreed, the bad batch shuttle needs more interior. It’ll be a while, but there are a few ships outside the OT that interest me and may get my attention in the future which would include the bad batch shuttle. For the time being I have been pointing people to @2bricks design as it’s pretty great
@@BAUFmanBricks Love 2bricks! I did buy an extra Bad Batch Shuttle before it retired just in case there was a really good moc that used a lot of the pieces. I’ll check out 2Bricks’ model for now, but I’ll keep an eye out for yours if/when it happens.
I love your builds, but I'm always frustrated when the minifig can't see out the tie windowscreen. It's literally perfect in every way except for the lack of usable windows, but it's very hard to achieve that look with the larger screen pieces. That said, I'd be pretty excited to see what you managed to put together using a fully transparent tie-eye.
I only briefly mentioned it in my TIE Fighter video, but this windshield actually does offer some transparency for the pilot. It’s small, but it’s there. You can notice it just briefly when the light hits it head on. I think it happens when I discuss the piece count
How similar is the core part of this to your regular tie fighter? If i wete ordering parts for this could i double the parts for the core and be able to build the classic tie?
In terms of the 1x1 vs 1x2 clip for the wings, I can see that you couldn't turn around the 1x2 because of the stud, buuut, have you tried to replace the clips with ratched pieces, specifically the 1x3 tile? would the angle work?
oooh, I wasn't aware of this piece. I am looking into this now. I don't have it on hand but I am going to test with a 1x2 finger joint on top which will produce the same angle. It's hard to tell at first glance, if it's off it's only by a few degrees
OOOH, soo close to working! the angle is just a little off. But actually another issue arises that moves the plate back too far. Apparently the joint connection is in a different spot which misaligns the placement. Good call though on that piece! I am going to have to keep that one in mind. I missed that one during my Lego dark ages and haven't seen it come up in any of the new sets I have gotten.
@@BAUFmanBricks I bet it will just ever so slightly stress the piece, Lego always has those frustrations when you try to avoid gaps haha. But for adults who don't care about that and just want a display piece, it could be an option, just like with the official TieLN where virtually all of us replaced the ball joint pieces against clips, even if it put stress on the pieces
Yes, no issue, you can easily swoosh it with the 1x1 clip I just don’t suggest it for kids who might bump it. I wanted to highlight it show my design decision but also show that it’s an easy mod
I recommend using Bricklink. If you are new to this you you should go look up a video or two from Rebrickable about importing your pieces to a bricklink account
Hey Baufmann what do you think about the new Tiefighter and Xwing in the new Set 75393? I was very surprised when i saw that they actually upgraded the models and they now look so much better and similar to yours. They’re still not as good, weird landing gear on the X and a weird top on the Tie but overall I think they really just look quite good. Also on the Tie interceptor, even tho it’s not in scale, the newest Lego one (Playscale) from „Tie interceptor vs Mandalorian Fang Fighter“ Set Looks sooo good. I feel like it looks even better and more UCS‘sy than the actual UCS set.
Ya I was pleasantly surprised to see Lego make the cockpit smaller on the new TIE. I think the pic angles may be hiding some visually bad areas but I am very interested to see how it’s constructed, especially the wing connections. I know they will make it strong but that’s hard when the wings are removable. I probably won’t buy it but I will definitely be looking at the instructions. I really thought I was going to buy the Fang and Interceptor set, that Interceptor is very proportional for its scale and looks good. It’s once I started crunching numbers I realized the Tie Bomber was the set for me. But ya, that Interceptor is solid, it’s a shame it’s behind an expensive combo set with an unpopular Fang build
@@BAUFmanBricks True, I think the top of the Tie looks a bit weird, which thanks to the angle of the pic they kind of covered up. Definitely neither of the two are 100%. But I think they will still be pretty cool as they are in scale and look pretty good for the most part. I can imagine they might have actually taken some inspiration of your buildt. And yes the combo with the Fangfighter sucks. I only built the Tie interceptor out of that set. And yes also got the bomber, a great, great set.
