  • Have you ever been told that you don’t have enough bone for implants because of your sinuses or that you need a sinus lift for getting dental implants? Although it sounds alarming, sinus lift is a relatively minor procedure which can now be done with minimally-invasive techniques with faster recovery and less complications.
    In our last episode, we talked about how to prevent sinus perforations during dental implant placement, which can happen if there is insufficient height of bone due to sinus proximity and poor planning. A reliable and long-standing solution to bone deficiency in the back of the upper jaw bone has been the sinus lift bone grafting. Does it work? Absolutely. And is it predictable? Yes. But it is considered a moderately invasive surgical technique and if it is not done correctly can lead to complications including sinus infections. So, how can we create sufficient height of bone for support of dental implants and do it with less complications and quicker recovery for patients? Today we’ll visit a new and remarkable minimally-invasive technique to do just that.

      With 7 mm available bone, a conservative transcrestal sinus lift with osseodensification is the treatment of choice

      Each technique has its specific indications based on dimension, anatomy, site, and other factors. I recommend both - but must be carefully selected in the right circumstances.

    What happens when the sinus has been punctured after a insufficient bone graft?

    • @kazemioralsurgery
      @kazemioralsurgery  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Depends on the size of the 'puncture' and opening. It may be no sequela if minor or persistent opening (oral antral fistula) if major.

    Is osseodensification applicable to 3 implants to be placed together with a sinus lift?

    • @kazemioralsurgery
      @kazemioralsurgery  Před 6 měsíci

      Yes. Osseodensification can be done on any implant site, next to each other, and at same time as sinus lift.

      Hello. I am not sure if I understand your question. Are you having a problem with an implant? My best recommendation is to see an oral surgeon in your area for a consultation. Dr. Moghaddas in Tehran is a colleague and good friend who hopefully can help you. but if there is a specific question, I am happy to reflect.

    You forgot to mentioned that you need to use the hummer for this procedure. I had this done few day ago, and I was in shock as my entire cranium was shaken. I still have terrible headache 5 days after this procedure.
