- Maliketh's Voice Lines Can be Differernt in Elden Ring when you make 2 very different choices within the Game. If you give all the Deathroot to him, he will act one way, but if you don't give him the deathroot then he will have a different voice line.

I have a theory. It's gonna be a bit of a yap session so strap in.
Even if you meet Gurranq, and give him 8 deathroot, he still has the sane dialogue, as if he doesn't know you. It's only when we give him the 9th, and we receive our Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone, that he plays his new dialogue. Why was he in possession of one of these stones though? It makes a good reward, and we could leave it at that. Reading Ancient Dragon Smithing stone reveals that ancient dragon scales have the ability to "lightly twist time." So what I think, is that Maliketh was sent to the bestial Sanctum after the rune of death was stolen, but he was also (with the rune of death) kept in Farum Azula. I think that he was given this stone so he could exist in two times, one punished, ever to hinger Deathroot, and the other, a sentinel for Destined Death. And when Gurranq gives us the Smithing Stone, his two selves reconverge, no longer split in two "timelines" and is memories converge, recognizing us when we face him. Law of Regression states all things return to what they were, and so he returned, and unfortunstely has to fight us

I was trying to become elden lord but one thing lead to another which ended with me burning a tree but next thing I know I'm waking up here after taking a nap and I've been trying to get help but everyone just keeps attacking me on sight. After about a few hours of wandering around I heard you were here so I assumed that if anyone was gonna help me it would be you but you just started making assumptions and started attacking me before I could get a word out so if anyone is getting betrayed it's me.

@@deliverypackage4245thy strength befits a crown. I love how they have used literary English or even old English in the dailogues. That carries the voice acting to a whole new level. I recently learnt that the Japanese lines in Sekiro are also kind of old Japanese language.
He also has a different voiceline if he kills you. Without the quest he'll say something like maliketh the black blade, but if you dothe quest he says marikas black blade
Also his different one for both phases. In his clergyman form he says "I shall not part it with again" and if given all the roots it will be "stay away from destined death".

I never realised how much maliketh sounds like optimus prime.
He played Saint Urbain in the original Demon's souls.
Maleketh doesnt understand that Death is not something to be stolen. It is something to be returned. The removal of the Death Rune started the problems for the Golden Order.
Unfortunately Maliketh is physically incapable of disobeying Marika, and she told him to guard Death.

I seriously wish we could talk to some of the bosses instead of fighting them if you did their associated quests(Malekith and Malenia being the main ones because I want to give them hugs dammit), like if you finish Millicent's questline you could talk the Malenia about looking for/finding Miquella and fighting Mohg together, or you know just continue to chat with Malekith instead of taking his rune, basically you have to go through specific quests and don’t get their associated runes, but they still live is a nice tradeoff in my opinion or if after the quests if you get them to low hp you can trigger a conversation instead of killing them so you still have to work for it. (Unfortunately, knowing this company, this will most likely never happen.😢)

This same thing was actually planned for Malenia as well. She had some sort of questline that was cut, and when you enter her arena, she's confused by why you're there.
Yeah, that questline was probably related to the cut miquella ending. Now we know that they just wanted to make way for the DLC lore.

It hit me really hard because when I fought him and then after reaching the edge of Abyss I encountered Manus I was like wait a second. If this is the father of Abyss then this was what Artorias was after because he is the basically the source but if Artorias hasn't killed him then why is Alvina telling me that knight Artorias finished the Abyss.

Gurranq is a sort of inverse reflection of Maliketh, Empyrean shadow of Marika, that manifested when she became/facilitated the advent of Radagon.

This is both why Gurranq is present in his sanctum after Maliketh's defeat and why Maliketh is able to recognize us inside of Farum Azula. Despite a lot of convoluted headcanon, that part of FA _can't_ be "outside of time;" if it were, Maliketh's defeat would have no effect on the Erdtree and FA's boss would never have the knowledge of our interactions to be able to recognize us in the first place.
I like the idea of them being the same character, but it just doesn't line up.

Malekth is honestly such a sad character, he was made to be a shadow, extremely loyal, betrayed by the child of the woman he was sworn to protect (once you know the secret) and then again is torn down by the tarnish who helped him reclaim destined death only to perish with not even a “thank you, you did your best” from grace.
