    I’m dealing with this right now I was eating about 1400 cal a day and gaining with bingeing and restricting. I eventually increased to 1800 with no weight gain I’ve been maintaining and not as hungry so the binges are way less . Now I think I’m about to increase a little bit more and I find that I am starting to lean out. Thank you for your content! It has been helping me so much!

    man, this was your most enlightening video, considering this is the kind of information I was looking for. I usually can't find much material that is able to explain subjects such as "fixing a slow metabolism" and alike. thank you very much!

    Awesome content, Paul. I wanted to joke that your visual points out that "relationships kill fat loss dreams" buuut relationships bring life to many more important dreams. Anyways! This info I've learned from some of your previous content as well as others'. I realized it when I wanted to lose weight and prep for a bikini comp this summer. I saw that by tracking my food for 2 weeks, I mostly ate around 1500-1700cals/day, and felt quite satisfied. This was about the caloric deficit I was in when I had lost 41lbs a couple yrs before... so I had wondered why I had gained back 15lbs slowly over time, on the same calories. Realizing through vids like this, my metabolism adjusted to this caloric range, and as I overate and underate over time without much thought or consistent exercise, weight gain occurred. NOW as I try to lose weight, my coach started me down around 1300-1400 cals/day and I was initially concerned, but saw my body respond without feeling starved. We have slowly added calories back in -even with continued weight loss- as my metabolism responds and physique changes to the desired look. I'm up to nearly 1600 cals/day on a normal day and continue to slowly lose fat while gaining some lean muscle. I know the "cut" will come soon as prep time for the competition begins, but I'm already looking forward to a proper reverse diet to bring my calories/metabolism up to a higher level!

    I have experienced this myself. 200lbs used to be my heavy weight where I would get my butt back in gear and work out and watch what I eat. Last year after taking some time off from exercising I went up to 212 lbs. Then I lost a bit and stayed around 205 but my goal is to be 185 by April. Having the post diet plan is a great idea, I definitely need one because I don't want to be on this roller coaster anymore. Thanks for the videos.

    I'd love to know how to calculate a true BMR without using the standard online.
    My BMR is around 1800. I'm 51 and 183cm 86kgs. My weight is still dropping so I guess I've not reached that stagnant point just yet. Very close to my weight loss goals, just that recently it does not seem to show in the mirror only on the scales.

    Eating more times per day again, calories higher but not having huge cheat meals.

    Intermittent fasting and the Fitness pal app are the only solutions for a problem like that. If you know that you going out on a date in the evening I suggest that you fast for the better part of the day to way way for those extra calories that you will be consuming later on. And do go easy on alcohol if you are trying to lose an extra fat.

    Paul, this question is for my wife - she's almost 40, 5'5" with current weight of 62kgs. In 2017 she dieted for 12 months straight at 1500 cals. Strength training 5 day split + 1 hr cardio 5 days/week. She lost 8 kilos in 6 months (dropped from 63 to 55 kgs). Since July-2017 she has been steadily gaining weight and BF% has also climbing back up. We watch your reverse diet video and she did a reverse diet in Jan 2018. Added 100 to 150 cals each week till she hit her maintenance of 1850/1900 cals. Held maintenance for 3 weeks and she was holding weight at about 60.5 kgs. Now she's been on her diet at 1500 cals for 5 weeks. However, she continues to gain weight and body fat. She is meticulous in her cals tracking using myfitness pal. I'd be happy to give more data from those reports. Suggestions/advice deeply appreciated.

    Is there another video on this that explains the process? If I’m on a fat loss journey do I keep on doing what’s working until goal? And then reverse diet at goal to find maintenance? Or should I be mixing up my calories periodically along the way to keep metabolism from slowing? How often and by how much and for how long? I get the concept in this video yet confused at the same time with how to avoid this. Or is it as simple as once at goal, don’t go back to old habits and find what works to maintain. Am I overthinking?

    Paul, I honestly feel I’ve done this to myself the exact way you explained. I am 5,7 weight is 138 and only eating 1600 calories. Back then I use to weigh 123 and lost weight eating 1600! How long do I have to eat at maintenance for my BMR to increase so I can cut again? Thanks

    This makes no sense to me, if we reduce calories BMR goes down if we increase it stays the same....?

    • @AdventFate
      @AdventFate Před 3 lety

      BMR doesn't instantly go up or down. Just like when a person is losing weight until their BMR eventually goes down to match, a person would be gaining weight until their BMR goes up to match.

  • @bmxcrew

    What I'm confused on is what if he still is working out hella hard? Just has a few cheat meals here and there.. you make it seem like he got a gf and then just stopped working out even though he was eating higher amounts of goo. THis graph to me is just saying this dude stopped working out once he met a girlfriend but his calorie intake went up and down. Obviously if he stops working out he will get fat. Why would one stop dieting or working out? I eat clean every day (one or 2 cheat meals) and run about 15 miles a week. Mu body is the leanest and sexiest it's ever been, to me this scenario seems a bit drastic.

    Paul, love your vids. Question - if overweight and trying to slim stomach down - besides dieting and cardio, are ab workouts helpful or are they pushing my stomach muscles / shape out more ? What do you think and recommend - is ab work more for later and after losing more fat ? Thanks , love your vids. Been doing IF and lots of working out , down from 250 to 220 in less than 3mos.

  • @beckytan1979
    @beckytan1979 Před 6 lety +2

    hiya paul! u mentioned that overeating leads to rapid fat gain as the metabolism adapts, but what if i restrict my calories severely on normal days and go all out on a cheat day, while keeping the weekly avg in check? tq!

    • @PaulRevelia
      @PaulRevelia  Před 6 lety +5

      That would depend how all out you go on a cheat day. If you take in 1000 calories per day but cheat day is 6K calories then that would cause rapid fat gain.
