I lost both of my beautiful sisters to suicide. My oldest sister in 2017 and my younger sister just 4 months ago July 2022. It's so hard continuing on without them but I won't put my parents thru this pain a 3rd time. Bless this mothers heart I will pray for her continued strength and healing

Thank you all for this video. I live in US. I have lost both my sons to suicide. My oldest in February of 2013. My youngest in February od 2020. Buried both on Valentine's day. If not for these videos and seeing people still hold on, I couldn't. They keep me somewhat moving forward. I now have no one really. God Bless ya'll.
It's pretty sick when someone says they need mental health and they get told to come back later, especially someone who already lost two brothers to suicide. Absolutely infuriating.
The U.S. is criminal in it's negligence of the mental health system. Our society continues to down slide economically, mental health issues have risen dramatically. My heart goes out to this woman, because like many other parents, I would be six feet under, as well. My daughter has been standing on a cliff with her schizophrenia since she was 11. Now 46, her life remains in the balance nearly every day. I can't believe she's made it this far, but the anxiety and fear I have for her being here from day to day is real. Heart wrenching💔💔💔
@@debranestlen567 I’m so sorry you are going through this with your daughter. I hope she is able to get the help she needs. I also live in the US and have seen the results of suicide as a medic. One woman came very close to dying from a hanging but was cut down just in the nick of time and she was very very close to succeeding. Many mental health hospitals have closed down which means those who need urgent help can’t get it. Here in Florida there is the Baker Act (you can be committed for up to 72 hours if you threaten suicide. Police an go to a magistrate and order it and take them in or we as EMS could take them in and the hospital decide to use the Baker Act) and even with the Baker Act people are still not getting the mental help they need. Many times the patient is admitted to a regular hospital and admitted to the medical floor to be watched with a sitter and they may see a psychiatrist once maybe twice and discharged in many cases. It is really messed up. Ireland has major issues if one woman loses 3 children and they were turning her away when she was pleading for help! Hang in there with your daughter.

I have been a funeral director for almost forty years and have been involved (in some capacity) of over 2000 suicide funerals the first in 1984 and the most recent in 2023. Suicide is the worst epidemic on the planet. 16 people every day in the United Kingdom take their own life and over 900,000 people globally take their own life annually. I have actually been involved (again in some capacity) in suicidal funerals to people whom I have actually known. I think it is about time the whole world woke up to this travesty.
Can't image how one brother dies. The other 2 have to live with that. Then another one decides to takes his. The third feels helpless and gives up as well. This is beyond torture. That woman is crazy poweful.
I lost the father of my 3 children to suicide 2 months ago. It’s so hard. His mom is devastated. That was her baby from 10 kids. So many questions. My children miss their dad so much. He always thought he wasn’t enough or didn’t deserve my love because of mistakes he had made. I always forgave him and we were at peace with each other and our children. His personal decisions and life issues put him in a deep depression. He had God in his heart but idk what was going on in his mind. In hind sight there was signs but in the moment it didn’t feel like it because he was such a strong man physically and was very smart. He knew how to hide certain things too. It’s not getting easier but with the grace of God the pain lifts. It’s an emotional rollercoaster and so many unanswered questions.
I too lost my brother 3 months ago and its not easy for me and my mom. It hurts even more because I lost my dad already to cancer. Life can be so unforgiving.

people who say “think about your family” have no idea. when I was hospitalized because of severe depression and ptsd I did not care about nobody. I was in so much pain, I did not care at all and would have done anything to stop it. I just tried to minimize the amount of people seeing me when I try to kill myself.
@bentobox7061 depression is the worst experience of my life daily l think about suicide my family doctor prescribed valium for sleep and l used it for over 17 years now that has side effects and the government ban valium l had headlines running through the back of my neck and to the middle of my head causing severe pain after l was going through menopause. I don't have support from my family's but l have an elderly mother who now 85 years old with dementia that is why l won't l am not dead today. If l suffer another severe depression l am going to commit suicide for sure because off valium l cannot focus on driving, loss of memory, counting, reading, and sleeping

I agree the stigma needs to end regarding so called "mental illness." The fact is that the brain is just another organ in ones body & neurotransmitters are actually a physical thing - so I think the term mental illness needs to be changed.

This made me realize that all the people are not happy in this world. Before watching this I was considering myself helpless because I never saw my mother for she died when I was only 1year old. I always imagined about my mother's personality but after looking and observing these flowing tears in Patricia's eyes I found that may be my mother would be like her loving, caring and affectionate. The thought that talking about suicide will make more people commit is a wrong and harmful misconception. A lot of schools won’t talk about when a student commits suicide because they don’t want other students to. But that’s not how it works. It just hurts everyone whose already in pain from the loss.

I lost my elder sister in 2003 to suicide and one month ago my brother took his own life.The mental health care team failed my sister and now failed my brother they didnt monitor them my mum rang for months begging for help because my brother needed help he was ignored and treated by officials as just a sad number.im heartbroken for the second time and I cant bear to see my mums pain.im not suicidal myself but people need to wake up and stop judging. It takes bloody guts of steel to do what they did and I truly believe if there was proper support my sister and brother would be here now...the drugs the gp give you dont work are not monitored and reviewed its appalling. My deepest sympathy for the mother who lost her sons to suicide. The high suicide rate of Northern Ireland suggests that mental health problems are not just an individual thing, but a community-wide problem. It is not enough to heal the individual when entire communities are suffering. Given the recent history of the region, one key component for healing would likely involve rebuilding trust.
Lost my brother on February 2019 to suicide by hanging, I was pregnant then I had my son on 22 /07/2019 and he died 2days later been suicidal since then...its so hard to deal with the pain
maybe somehow suicide has become an accepted out within a certain group ? - but the story of three brothers within 7 years is almost beyond belief ? it's not like it was an action taken together , but three separate extreme acts ?!
It was probably a domino effect. One took his life for whatever was bothering him so much, then the other one got suicidal by the thought of his brother committing suicide etc..
My son, 35, took his life in January. He has 3 brothers. My life is so full of anxiety at the thought of losing another. May this poor lady find some peace x

I had a mental break down few years ago and got took to hospital the doctor was half asleep asked me a few questions and sent me home to see my gp I did eventually see my gp but all they did was throw me on tablets the side effects were awful so now still suffering mentally uk mental health care is so crap I told them I feel like I have bipolar and they laughed I couldn’t possibly be this was all over the phone haven’t seen a gp in person for years

There is a WORLDWIDE mental health crisis. I truly believe that a number of our worlds most pressing issues have mental health issues at the root. It’s so stigmatized still, it is difficult to ask for help, find good help, and afford the care they need. Then you have the treatment itself which can be lifelong, and arduous. It’s absolutely unacceptable. Our mental health needs to be accommodated just as our physical health. They are undeniably interconnected too. We have come really far as a world community, but in this regard we are stuck in the dark ages.
I remember this mom who lost her 3 sons. They died because of cancer. Then I saw an article about a mom who lost her 3 daughters due to a car crash. Losing family members is the most painful.

I hope you didn’t kill yourself. I tried to kill myself and I’m so glad it didn’t work. It’s a long journey but it really does get better as hard as that is to believe. I know I didn’t believe it when people told me that but it really is true. I lost a friend to suicide, have family members and people who lost people to suicide, I have friends who’ve attempted suicide or had suicidal thoughts, and like I said I’ve felt that way myself. Trust me, I can relate.

Because I always find that there is an avenue that I haven’t explored...for example I’ve made an extensive mind map to explore my whole life and found that if one avenue ran dry another could still be explored. Maybe that’s the same case for you...

Help. I have been suicidal for 5 years. Attempted twice already. Everything I used to enjoy is now dull and meaningless. I had a girlfriend, but due to us moving to separate countries, we had to break it off. I was happy with her, but I was still suicidal at the time. Now she is gone from my side, but I still talk to her online as a friend. I know that if I stop talking to her, I will have nothing left. I have made friends recently, but the relationships seem shallow and empty. Worse, since I am suicidal, I know that I am toxic to everyone around me, and I don't bother creating deeper relationships because the moment I trust someone, I will fear losing them and it will hurt much more. The cuts on my wrists are very visible, and I don't bother hiding them. I have a daily breakdown where I cry and hyperventilate. I can't go on living like this. I am severely tired of living. I know that death awaits us all, so why rush? But for me, life has been so painful and empty that there is really nothing in my future but regret, failed expectation, and pain. Everyday, I contemplate whether today is the day.
Thank you :) There have been many times where in my rare moments of joy, internal voices shout "I am not enough", "failure", and my smiling just immediately stops, and tears just start forming. It is extremely hard, since that has happened in the middle of happy conversations, and even in front of meeting my newborn niece for the first time. What scared me is that when I saw her, the joy I felt became nothing and empty, even though she was smiling back at me. It takes hours for my depression and suicidal thoughts to go away, and I still can't function because I know they will be back.

I’m from a crap hole town in the north of England I work six days a week I’m 24 living at home with no savings. I hate the thought of doing this to my mum, I’m an only child. I just can’t deal with this dull pointless life. Make friends or reach out to your cousins or relatives or join some group like Gym or sports or church where you can meet people and make friends . Loneliness is the real cause of suicide because in western countries people live alone on the houses an don’t talk to each other. Unfortunately only a small percentage of that 7 billion produce the most to feed and improve conditions for the majority. If too many of those people die off we go back to third world conditions all over the globe.

“Death may be the greatest of all human blessings.” That is from Socrates. I do contemplate on suicide for almost a decade now. I kinda think, it is a celebration. My ailing cousin did. I have some guilts; i guess, he overheared my arguments weeks before he did it in 2016. Albeit, he could also be philosophical about human life... And also, 2 of my childhood friends did, some 10 yrs ago.

The U.S. is criminal in it's negligence of the mental health system. Our society continues to down slide economically, mental health issues have risen dramatically. My heart goes out to this woman, because like many other parents, I would be six feet under, as well. My daughter has been standing on a cliff with her schizophrenia since she was 11. Now 46, her life remains in the balance nearly every day. I can't believe she's made it this far, but the anxiety and fear I have for her being here from day to day is real. Heart wrenching💔💔💔

One woman came very close to dying from a hanging but was cut down just in the nick of time and she was very very close to succeeding. Many mental health hospitals have closed down which means those who need urgent help can’t get it. Here in Florida there is the Baker Act (you can be committed for up to 72 hours if you threaten suicide. Police an go to a magistrate and order it and take them in or we as EMS could take them in and the hospital decide to use the Baker Act) and even with the Baker Act people are still not getting the mental help they need. Many times the patient is admitted to a regular hospital and admitted to the medical floor to be watched with a sitter and they may see a psychiatrist once maybe twice and discharged in many cases. It is really messed up. Ireland has major issues if one woman loses 3 children and they were turning her away when she was pleading for help! Hang in there with your daughter.

I have been a funeral director for almost forty years and have been involved (in some capacity) of over 2000 suicide funerals the first in 1984 and the most recent in 2023. Suicide is the worst epidemic on the planet. 16 people every day in the United Kingdom take their own life and over 900,000 people globally take their own life annually. I have actually been involved (again in some capacity) in suicidal funerals to people whom I have actually known. I think it is about time the whole world woke up to this travesty.
Can't image how one brother dies. The other 2 have to live with that. Then another one decides to takes his. The third feels helpless and gives up as well. This is beyond torture. That woman is crazy poweful.

I lost the father of my 3 children to suicide 2 months ago. It’s so hard. His mom is devastated. That was her baby from 10 kids. So many questions. My children miss their dad so much. He always thought he wasn’t enough or didn’t deserve my love because of mistakes he had made. I always forgave him and we were at peace with each other and our children. His personal decisions and life issues put him in a deep depression. He had God in his heart but idk what was going on in his mind. In hind sight there was signs but in the moment it didn’t feel like it because he was such a strong man physically and was very smart. He knew how to hide certain things too. It’s not getting easier but with the grace of God the pain lifts. It’s an emotional rollercoaster and so many unanswered questions.
I too lost my brother 3 months ago and its not easy for me and my mom. It hurts even more because I lost my dad already to cancer. Life can be so unforgiving.

I don't have support from my family's but l have an elderly mother who now 85 years old with dementia that is why l won't l am not dead today. If l suffer another severe depression l am going to commit suicide for sure because off valium l cannot focus on driving, loss of memory, counting, reading, and sleeping

This made me realize that all the people are not happy in this world. Before watching this I was considering myself helpless because I never saw my mother for she died when I was only 1year old. The high suicide rate of Northern Ireland suggests that mental health problems are not just an individual thing, but a community-wide problem. It is not enough to heal the individual when entire communities are suffering. Given the recent history of the region, one key component for healing would likely involve rebuilding trust.

It was probably a domino effect. One took his life for whatever was bothering him so much, then the other one got suicidal by the thought of his brother committing suicide etc..

I had a mental break down few years ago and got took to hospital the doctor was half asleep asked me a few questions and sent me home to see my gp I did eventually see my gp but all they did was throw me on tablets the side effects were awful so now still suffering mentally uk mental health care is so crap I told them I feel like I have bipolar and they laughed I couldn’t possibly be this was all over the phone haven’t seen a gp in person for years

I don’t know what I could ever say to this lovely woman to comfort her but as a mum of three young men one who suffers from depression and anxiety and has told us only his father an I are keeping him here, I am going to say I’m so very sorry and I wish you peace and love x
I am crying so much. Patricia, you are so strong for not breaking out into tears and an inspiration, not only for those that lost their loved ones but parents that are still affected by such travesity. I hope that this short documentary will bring, not only comfort but also knowledge about mental health and suicide issues to a larger platform. Mental health is a serious matter to be taken into consideration and if you see someone that is going through a difficult time, just walk up to the person and ask how that individual's day was and how the person is doing. It does impact the person so much. It is the simple things that makes a huge difference.

There is a WORLDWIDE mental health crisis. I truly believe that a number of our worlds most pressing issues have mental health issues at the root. It’s so stigmatized still, it is difficult to ask for help, find good help, and afford the care they need. Then you have the treatment itself which can be lifelong, and arduous. It’s absolutely unacceptable. Our mental health needs to be accommodated just as our physical health. They are undeniably interconnected too. We have come really far as a world community, but in this regard we are stuck in the dark ages.
I remember this mom who lost her 3 sons. They died because of cancer. Then I saw an article about a mom who lost her 3 daughters due to a car crash. Losing family members is the most painful.

We are dragged into this absurd hell called 'life' with no say, but we can choose to leave it. I don't see the problem. The real problem is being dragged into this bad deal (slavery and increasing suffering) in the first place.

I hope you didn’t kill yourself. I tried to kill myself and I’m so glad it didn’t work. It’s a long journey but it really does get better as hard as that is to believe. I know I didn’t believe it when people told me that but it really is true. I lost a friend to suicide, have family members and people who lost people to suicide, I have friends who’ve attempted suicide or had suicidal thoughts, and like I said I’ve felt that way myself. Trust me, I can relate.

@@pauleng883 I sadly understand you. May I asked what options you’ve explored. Because I always find that there is an avenue that I haven’t explored...for example I’ve made an extensive mind map to explore my whole life and found that if one avenue ran dry another could still be explored.

Help. I have been suicidal for 5 years. Attempted twice already. Everything I used to enjoy is now dull and meaningless. I had a girlfriend, but due to us moving to separate countries, we had to break it off. I was happy with her, but I was still suicidal at the time. Now she is gone from my side, but I still talk to her online as a friend. I know that if I stop talking to her, I will have nothing left. I have made friends recently, but the relationships seem shallow and empty. Worse, since I am suicidal, I know that I am toxic to everyone around me, and I don't bother creating deeper relationships because the moment I trust someone, I will fear losing them and it will hurt much more. The cuts on my wrists are very visible, and I don't bother hiding them. I have a daily breakdown where I cry and hyperventilate. I can't go on living like this. I am severely tired of living. I know that death awaits us all, so why rush? But for me, life has been so painful and empty that there is really nothing in my future but regret, failed expectation, and pain. Everyday, I contemplate whether today is the day.

Thank you :) There have been many times where in my rare moments of joy, internal voices shout "I am not enough", "failure", and my smiling just immediately stops, and tears just start forming. It is extremely hard, since that has happened in the middle of happy conversations, and even in front of meeting my newborn niece for the first time. What scared me is that when I saw her, the joy I felt became nothing and empty, even though she was smiling back at me. It takes hours for my depression and suicidal thoughts to go away, and I still can't function because I know they will be back.

Unfortunately only a small percentage of that 7 billion produce the most to feed and improve conditions for the majority. If too many of those people die off we go back to third world conditions all over the globe.
