- Microshift, acolyte, advent, and advent X are all interchangeable. Here’s a demo and review using the acolyte and advent x derailleurs with the advent nine speed shifter.

Very interesting. Seems cheaper is better here. I recently ditched my Advent X derailleur due to the pre clutch engagement play that you mentioned. Have a Deore 11 speed derailleur on there now with the rest still Advent X parts and it works well.

I found this out a while ago. The acolyte derailleur does shift smoother, and that is mostly do to the fact that the "clutch" it has is actually not a clutch. It essentially just as a much larger and stiffer tension spring. The button that turns the clutch on actually just increases the tension on the spring. Now I do worry about getting chain slap on really rough trails, so I only I don't recommend this setup for much more than xc trails.
I have a 8 speed microshift mezzo drivetrain and I struggle with chain drops, can I just get the acolyte rear derallieur? will it work with 8 speed cassette and the mezzo shifter?
Confirmed Acolyte works with Advent X 11-48T cassette and Pro shifter. I'm running it now with just a longer B screw.
Yep, I second that. $120 shipped for that drive train option. $40 for Acolyte, $45 for cassette, and $30 for the trail Pro shifter.
I'm using it too. There is a CZcams video that confirms pull ratio of Acolyte, Advent, and Advent X.
@@raylaux8295 great info to know. It’s funny that microshift specifically says acolyte only with with acolyte shifter. Event advent stuff says it works with other advent.

Will the Advent derailleur work with the 9 speed Mezzo shifters?
I tried advent x with shimano slx m7100, and surprisingly it works fine. There is a really small difference on the cable pull, but its tunable to the point that you can use it. I'm not sure if this will work with Deore M5100 (11 speed rd)
It will. Running exactly that now. Even did a video on my channel.
anybody tried pairing advent 9 with a 11-50 (9 speed still) cogs?
dont understand why they differentiate between XLE which is compatible to Shimano and AdventX, which has same shift ratio. Also XLE is availble for 11speed, AdventX only 10speed.
I know this is an older video, but do you know what revision of advent you have? i know the advent x has a v2 model and it might fix the issues on the v1, that is if Microshift considers the clutch play a fault, i can't find any info online about this
This is v1. It’s my understanding that v2 has the same clutch as v1. However, the sword derailleur has a redesigned clutch with more engagement.
The sword is a gravel group tho correct? Is there any difference between gravel and mtb drive train outside of pull ratio ?

Is anyone Acolyte's clutch still working? Mine was not working after 2years. Is anyone experiencing this?
Still working here. I can’t think of what would be going wrong inside there, the chain tensioner literally just winds the spring tighter. Don’t be afraid to open the whole thing up, it’s cool to see how simple everything is inside. Also, Microshift warranty claims are easy.
Will the acolyte work on a 10 speed cassette?
I haven’t tried that combination, but somebody at Microshift suggested that there might be compatibility issue between 10 speed chain width and acolyte derailleur cage/pulley width. If you try it, let us know how it goes!
