Listen to Dan! 3x3 works! I’ve tried it with great success.
Really taking your time with the basics will build the foundation for all the “other stuff.”

Great to hear! Thank you for trying something and doing it. I know a guy named Vinny Tanner who is also brilliant!

I started powerlifting in 1975 when I was 17 years old and just retired about 4 years ago. My first programs were very simple. I squatted and benched 3 days a week and deadlifted once a week. I also did press behind neck, bent-over row, and curl. That was it. Most powerlifters back then pretty much did the same. I squatted 4x4, benched 5x3 and deadlifted 5x3. That changed over the next few years as I was a very good squatter and deadlifter. My squat was ranked #4 in 123 back in '78 and I was in the top 10 in total. My bench sucked. When I was attending chiropractic school in the early 80s, I hooked up with Mike Sauers who was the 114 WR bench holder at the time with a 280 bench. Mike's bench program was super simple. He did 4x6 3 days a week adding 5 lbs. each w/o. Two weeks out, he started decreasing reps...6,6,5,5..4x5, 5,5,4,4 all the way down to 4x3. For beginning powerlifters, do as Dan John says. Train the lifts at least 3 days a week with a few other basic exercises and go from there.

I love the training for powerlifting but the actual contests are boring. I quit conpeting after traveling to Texas for a contest where I had time between squat and bench press to explore San Antonio, order a pizza, eat the pizza, and return with enough time to warm up.

I weighed in at 9 am on a Saturday and deadlifted at 3 am on Sunday...so I think you are right.

How can and what exercises i can do using only kettlebells to gain size and strength?

We discuss this all the time on the podcast. The two best are double presses and double front squats but practically everything works if you put the work in. Otto Arco just did TGUs and was the model for Rodin. He did bodyweight and above, but still...that's impressive.
