  • Matt moss is no stranger to controversy and in this clip he doesn't disappoint. The current MX Nationals calendar is run over 6 months for 8 weekends of racing.
Is this a good or bad thing? Should it change? Or stay the same?
Who does it benefit? or who does it hurt?
Let me know in the comments below.
    Thanks for watching!

He’s spot on , I’m an enthusiast and watch everything MX/SX overseas but find it almost impossible to follow the Aussie scene because I forget when it’s on or have got something else on when it happens and I miss it so my enthusiasm wanes .

He is spot on south coast boy

  • @travisbarclay
    @travisbarclay Před 5 měsíci +8

me and my old boy were actually talking about this the other day, Motocross needs to start mid to late February in the southern states (SA, VIC and potentially TAS) and finish up in early to mid may at the absolute latest in the northern states, reason being having a round at Horsham in July is just stupid, it's freezing cold and makes for shit racing. also majority of Australia's states and territories need atleast 1 round, it's basically a east coast Mx championship these days and it's ridiculous, where's a Wa and even potentially a NT round??? the Australian winter needs to be the break in-between the end of the Mx season and the start of the SX season

I do agree with the winter off-season idea! A lot of races get rained out and spectator attendances would have to affected on those more common cold, wet weekends.

My god can you boys hit a nail on the head! Can follow every other season around the world but have zero interest in our local series because of exactly that, there’s too much down time and lose interest. Well done fellas, keep up the good work!

Love him or Hate him,,,Mossy is such an ambassador for Aussie motocycling….He’s done it, He’s raced it, He’s won it….Full Stop!!!
So many organizations, parents, wannabes etc can learn soooooo much from this bloke…..
MA’s decisions are mainly implemented by in house people who don’t even know where the shift lever is on an YZ 250🤦🏼🤦🏼….
    Such a great insight👏👏👍👍

Motorcycling Australia is biased towards clubs and biased against private promotors. The sport meeds private promotors for each individual round of the mx series. You know...like how they do it in the USA ...
A private promotor lives or dies by the quality of their event, but why would a private buisness run a motocross round when MA are raping them for every dollar of income that they can generate.?
Clubs are much easier to rape, so MA favours clubs. Subsequently we mostly have a calender of events made up of clubs willing to be raped simply for the prestige of hosting a national, some of these clubs have very sub standard tracks, no machinery of their own, no effective watering system , no expertise in track prep, limited spectator viewing etc.
A perfect place for a mx national would be at the ride park facility at Bacchus Marsh near Melbourne. They have a great track with amazing spectator viewing, the patking and pit space , the machinery, the water, the experienced track crew and a location that could easily draw 10's of thousands of spectators , but the way MA entitles itself to most of a club's, or in this hypothetical case, a private promotors income streams, like event sponsorship money, race day vendor fees, ticket fees from spectators etc, it would just be a lose lose lose situation for that promotor.
Clubs can acess government grants and frequently do, private track operators can not, but a private track operator could use grant money very effectively to improve their facility, a facility that is open most weekends for the riders, clubs squander grant money , arguing amongst themselves how best to spend it and all for a club facility that is open for the riders how many days a year? I wonder what would happen if every club that has recieved a government grant were audited to find out exactly where that money went and what lasting value was had from it..? ( sorry that was a side track rant!! )
For Australian motocross to ever advance to the professional level that the grass roots popularity of this sport should be able to sustain, then we need a full Federal government level investigation into the buisness practices of Motorcycling Australia and a full audit of where riders , clubs, sponsors and spectators money is actually going..
We know this is never going to happen.
Kale, you recently stated that you want to dedicate yourself to growing and improving our sport here in Australia. I would suggest that you do a detailed investigation into just what MA takes from a club or promotor that wants to run a national, the actual current official breakdown of fees applied by MA and who gets what of all incomes generated from individual races and the series as an overall, then do some interviews with representatives from clubs that have hosted a national in the past, the private promotor who is hosting a national at his ride park facility in Queensland this year and definitely the owner of the ride park facility at Bacchus Marsh..ask him what it would take to make it worthwhile for him to host a national.

He's 100% right, why stop for 5 weeks, plus they stop for the state titles, it's BS. It should also be at least 10 rounds, and do a round in WA, either add Manjimup, like Supercross does with Daytona under a different promoter, or the weekend before or after, to reduce travel costs. Needs to be 10 rounds, and 2 weeks breaks at absolute most.

I have followed the AMA since Reedy was around then followed the top guys ever since, I've tried to follow MA but I don't know when the season starts. A shorter season with races weekly or fortnightly would generate hype, podcasts, and privateer behind the scenes CZcamsrs so the general public like me can follow these racers!

When you think of the talent Australia is producing, we should be running a series just as good as the AMA… Outdoors and SX… Mossy is right… the MX Series is too stretched out

Even us fans lose excitement with massive gaps of the races. Mx is the best it really is. Shitty MA it could blow up easy is Oz, get some gov money and blow it up. How many million goes into swimming au for eg.. Buggar Red pull no one wants more of that shit show.

Aus MX is a joke. Should be 9 rounds over 3 months. 3 rounds a month. It would help privateers, it would help families helping there kids. It's ridiculous. Fans would follow the series. I'm a religious die-hard motocross fan, and I couldn't give 2shits about Aussie mx. MA are a bunch of cooks.
Mx should be April, May, June, any of the factory boys can go race a few rounds of AMA or MXGP
SX should be Sept, Oct, Nov that opens doors for international riders to come over grow the competition here and get gate drops before ama and our Factory boys can go over and do a few rounds of West if they chose to. It keeps the factory boys engaged, international riders help elevate our riders and the private guy can have a better chance doing well when the series is condensed. Lest time for potential injury, more time for them to work a 2nd job and keeps the fans engaged in wanting to follow more closely.
