Exploring Mumbai in One Day - Best Sights in Bombay

- We had an awesome day in Mumbai taking in the sights of the city that was previously named Bombay! Mumbai was quite different than other cities we have visited in India so far, mostly because the city is right on the coast. During our one day of exploring Mumbai, we visited the Gateway of India (and almost got robbed), had a coffee inside the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, visited Chowpatty Beach at sunset, tried vada pav for the first time, and got to see the CST train station (chhatrapati shivaji terminus) lit up at night! Oh yeah, and when we arrived in Mumbai we took the local Mumbai train. That was WILD!
If you are visiting Mumbai and are wondering what to do with one day in Bombay, feel free to follow our itinerary! If you are a foreigner visiting India for the first time like we are, be sure to schedule in lots of breaks during your day exploring Mumbai because not only is it very hot, but it's very busy! People at the Gateway to India can be very excited to take pictures with foreigners visiting India, and if you're like us, this can result in a weary traveler! Going for a coffee inside the Taj Mahal Palace hotel (just across the street from the Gateway of India) is a great way to take a peaceful, air conditioned break after your visit to the harbor.
We hope this Bombay travel vlog is both helpful and entertaining! If you haven't already seen it, we also spent Diwali in Mumbai and made a video about it that you should check out! • This is Diwali in India?!

Hey there! We are Nicole and Mico, full-time travel vloggers searching for adventures all around the globe. In March 2021 we quit our jobs, sold our belongings, and hopped on our first ever one-way flight leaving our home country #Canada. We believe #travel builds understanding that reaches across culture, language, and boundaries, and we want to share our experiences as we create connections all over the world. If you like learning about unique places, new cultures and different foods, then come follow our adventure as we explore all our beautiful planet has to offer.
I'm convinced you guys are by far the most gutsy travellers I see on youtube, first you took the bus and now the local train, as an Indian it's daily life for us, but I can totally understand how overwhelming it can be for a foreigner, mad props to both of you, loving the India series 🇮🇳❤️🇨🇦
Awe thanks so much! That's such a motivating comment. We try our best to experience all cultures as authentically as we can, holding nothing back and we have never regretted this philosophy 😊 we usually just end up falling in love with the culture even more haha

The energy came from the city, amazing! ✨️💖
16:00 Very proud moments for a Mumbaikar ........ Thanks for recording and publishing this ....
I love that you guys have blown up so much!!! You deserve it so much!! And I think you definitely handled being followed MUCH better than I would have 😂
Awe thanks you two! Yes it can be tricky to travel in India but the experience is definitely worth it 😊
This was a South Mumbai tour Mumbai has a lot to offer 😁 great video hope to see more coming!
The frenzy of Mumbai, a beautiful city on the shores of the Arabian Sea, was amazing. Also, the real look of the city at night is best felt around your brightly lit stations and municipal buildings.
Fun Fact : The hotel nearby India Gate , the Taj Palace is older than The India Gate itself 😂😂
Wow we never knew! 😮
@@nicoleandmico yes , it is. Gateway of India is 98 years old but the hotel is 119 years old.
From historical landmarks to modern marvels, Mumbai truly has it all. I'm already planning my own adventure and counting down the days until I can immerse myself in the beauty and culture of Bombay.
It seems architectural lighting at night on historic buildings has been a big popular change in recent times, I like it and pleased many others do to✌️❤️🇬🇧
You guys are the most wholesome couple I've seen on YT! You guys are amazing! Great work. I live in Kolata. I wasn't aware you would be coming here. Would have shown you around some cool places here. But then, there is always a next time! 😊
Thanks so much! We are so glad you're enjoying our videos 😊
Lovely to see you guys exploring the India❣️❣️
Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam🙏🙏

We say cautious man is a man has been learnt to be cautious.
wow! you actually added the 'cost tag' like requested in your previous video 🙂 happy
Glad you enjoyed the touch 😉
I am currently in Mumbai though I am from Kolkata. Seeing u guys make videos of both these two great cities, was wondering. Keep making some great content.
Thanks so much!
Yeh Mumbai hai 🙏🏻😎! Gotta love 😍 India 🇮🇳.
Jai Bharat 🇮🇳🙏🏻👍🏻😎💪🏻😍!
2:03 they visit incredible Elephanta Caves in Elephanta Island in Mumbai. it is at least 1300 years old temple carved out from single mountain/rock without adding anything from outside and absolutely huge.
O really!? So cool! We'll have to do that next time!
@@nicoleandmico yes... please visit...u will surely see ancient architecture.. 😊
@@nicoleandmico There are many islands, elephanta, panju, wadhiv, julie, khanderi underi etc. Elephanta being most beautiful with developed tourism and facilitues
And also Drive 3 hours from mumbai, there is a mountain pass called malshej ghat which have beautiful waterfalls and unique nature beauty between months of june to september in monsoon season
Also, Hill station Like Matheran Are near to Mumbai, which have a tourist special toy town
Besides, The districts like Raigad (Village Alibaug is a tourist place with water fort or island fort, Sky diving , trekking, etc.), Ratnagiri. Sindhudurga, etc. Are neighbouring districts to the south of Mumbai, with developed tourism incl. Historical Forts, Palace of a Burmese prince who took shelter in India, Dolphin watching, fishing, Scuba diving, motor boating, Water Adventures etc. Do visit
Enjoyed watching your vlog on Mumbai. Particularly liked your positivity and sense of fun and adventure.
love your india vlogs i just came back from india i was in delhi and the north part
U guys are amazing keep exploring 😂❤️
Thanks for watching!
Love & respect from south India
such a cute couple 🥰... have fun in India ..☺☺☺
Awesome vlog guys. Keep calm and carry on.
Loved exploring Mumbai 😍
@@nicoleandmico A fun fact for you guys - Everyday around 7.5 million people travel by the Mumbai Suburban railway. It's so busy that a new term 'super dense crush load' has been coined to describe the present scenario.
Hi Nicole and mico! If you are going down south and want to visit beaches, Lakshadweep and Andaman Islands are the best, just like Maldives... and if you can't go there definitely visit Butterfly beach in Goa..by the way your vlogs are awesome
Good to see you back in Mumbai. Enjoy your stay here!!! If you are coming to Thane ( a suburb of Mumbai). Let me know. A fellow Canadian.......
Great city! Thank you!
Nice video. Going there next month for 2 weeks !!
You guys are so humble
4:48 Taj Mahal Palace Hotel is one of the most iconic hotel in India owned by Tata Groups. Tatas own lots of things around the world. 67% income of Tatas head Ratan Tata income goes directly to charity otherwise he would have been richest person in the world with net worth more than 300 billion USD as of 2022.
Wow, that's cool!
Ready I'm so excited to have this food 😊 your reviews are very special 🔥🧿
Thank you so much!
Great video keep up the good work
vada is what they call the potato patty and pav is literally the word for bread in Portuguese...the colonizers really made an impact! Glad to see you two in the city of my ancestors :)
The food was amazing! Can't wait to have it again already haha
You guys are chill. 😎
Hi Nicole and Mico, welcome to India and enjoy your trip. Your video's are awsome. If you love to xplore the cleanest beach with blue & crystal clear water, you must visit Radha Nagar beach which is in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This beach is 7th cleanest beach in Asia.
Loving all your India videos. Im addicted to Indian food and cook it everyday here in Canada. Hope to see more India food tour videos from you guys at some point! Where are you from in Canada?
The food is so good we just cannot resist. We miss all of it already 😆 we are from Alberta!
@@nicoleandmico please go back to India! Your series is great. Hope you make some longer vids too. Cheers from Vancouver Island.
You are telling amazing 😍
nice vlog, loved the VT building lit up at night :) The beaches aren't great in Mumbai, along the coast I would say further south in Kerala or south Karnataka, Varkala and Gokarna are better than beaches in Goa in my view. Lakshadweep and Andaman islands have the best beaches in India. Lakshadweep is the upper part of the Maldives chain and that part belongs to India :)
Happy Christmas you guys and your family 🥰⛄🎄🥳
Thank you! Happy Christmas to you as well!!
Love from India ❤❤❤❤
You guys vibe so good 👍💗
Thank you! Beautiful place to visit 😍
@@nicoleandmico wherever you visit you guys make it more beautiful with your charm 🥰 Lovely content to Maharaja express! Worth the hype 💟
I love this video
loved it
14:41 the time-lapse is so beautiful 😍
Visit..himachal...manali... Kashmir.... Then Darjeeling and Sikkim
Lovely
u guys are so cool i know.. When asked about thousand times to buy somthing, guides, photographers, selfies, etc any natural person at some point of time will get offended.. But most of them are poor or villagers / small towns specially ones asking for selfies... They mostly don't have any bad intentions... Just try to ignore them or say 'no'
Really enjoying your videos. Can I ask please how you travelled from Kolkata to Mumbai as you don't say?
Cleanest beaches in India are in Andaman and Nicobar Islands alongwith Lakshwadweep which are amongst the most beautiful beaches and islands in the world..mainland India beaches would be best in Konkan region and East coast in Visakhapatnam
As a Mumbaikar (a person from Mumbai) this video really gave me a privileged westerner vibe.
1) Mumbai is one of the safest cities in India.
2) When u live in Mumbai you hardly go to the Gateway of India, I mean it's not an attraction, those people there are tourists in Mumbai. Certainly, no Mumbaikar would pester you for a selfie.
3) it seemed like what u heard about Mumbai just made you more paranoid.
Let's assume he was stalking, what would he do in between so many people? Where would he run if he stole something?
Nah, the world doesn't revolve around you.
Had a great time watching other videos, but the assumptions in this one really put me off.
I'm not sure we understand, are we privileged if we are concerned about safety? Our instincts told us something was off so we have to follow that. We're happy that you feel safe but for new visitors, that is always not the case. Regardless, thank you for watching and hope you enjoy the future videos 🙂
average mumbaikar coping hardddddd
@@nicoleandmico he can't comprehend that MuMBai not no.1. LOLLLLLL but in all seriousness kerala and goa are the safest places in India.
@@unscinfinity3337 Do u understand what "One of the safest means?"
@@nicoleandmico Sure you should feel safe anywhere you go. The assumption is that someone is out to get you. Why would they? Maybe the tourist just wanted to take a picture and strike up a conversation. from the many possibilities to assume someone is out to get you is just paranoia.
Lastly, I am not the only one who feels safe in Mumbai. As travellers, you will meet many Indians in other cities just ask people which city they feel is the safest.
Anyways, I've said what I had to. Hope u 2 have a great journey ahead.
I used to travel by train through that train station everyday to college. Back then, the station was called Victoria Terminus or V.T. Brings back memories of riding like a sardine, for sure. Enjoy your trip and be safe!
Haha it's an experience we won't easily forget 😆
@@nicoleandmico Just FYI, there is a ladies’ compartment on these trains, so Nicole could try that next time. Fair warning though: It’s all female sardines. 😂
@@nicoleandmico If you want to see something unique and different, visit Chor Bazar (Thieves Market), the largest flea market in Mumbai. It’s very interesting. Also, you could visit Film City and take a bus tour to see how Bollywood movies are made.
Nicole may accidentally find herself being cast in a dance film sequence. 😁
For some awesome beaches with some adventure activities, you can visit KONKAN region beaches [South of Mumbai and midway between Mumbai and Goa] ... some of the beaches are - Harihareshwar Beach, Srivardhan Beach, Divyagar beach, Guhaghar beach, etc. All these are around 300 kms south of Mumbai, but are on the way to Goa.. You will see a different India there... and ofcourse clean beaches and water..
Welcome to Mumbai 🇮🇳
Thank you!
You people can visit Mathura and Vrindavan!
and you people missed the vedic temple in West Bengal.
Welcome to India 🇮🇳 good luck
Great
Welcome back India
I Love your videos...
I am an Indian and I am really sad about the situation of cleanliness of our river and streets in India...
I just request if anyone who does those please keep the plastic bags in your pocket or bag if u have one and just find a dustbin and throw it there...
And don't think that if I throw what will change...Remember everything starts from 1...If u do that your friends and people around you will also change watching you...And this chain system will reach millions...
Always remember that 1+1+1.......=millions (of plastics..)
I just hope that you will understand...
If u don't be disciplined don't expect that rich and highly educated(in terms of discipline)Indians will stay in our country...
This is one of the biggest reasons upper middle class and rich go to different countries and leave citizenship to live especially Canada/UK/US/EU...
Now please don't argue with me rather change yourself my fellow indian brothers and sisters🙂
You should explore Mumbai by the Mumbai Darshan Bus. Mico will really enjoy and his experience will be like Ekansh (Anshul Pandey) in Hello Mini webseries.
Talking about Taj Hotel Mumbai I loved Adivi Shesh's Telugu movie Major.
Welcome to Mumbai
Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩
You can visit our country ☺️😊♥️
One day we will!
Welcome to India 🇮🇳
Taj palace hotel is NOT just a random hotel guys. It has a glorious Historical ❤️ Its 120 years old. You can say the First Real hotel of India 😅
Btw you should visit sites like Ajanta & Ellora caves (spec. Kailasha temple, the largest monolithic structure in the world), Siddhivinayak temple, etc too.
Welcome to Mumbai
,😍😍
Thank you!
16:20 you can take train from Csmt cause they starts from there so they were pretty much empty
Good to know 😁
if you want to see best of Indian hospitality then please visit villages of India. there are 600000 villages in the country which represent Indian culture lot more than cities in India. having visited quite a few cities you have seen India. when you visit the villages you would really know what India is about.
I m indian..and agree with stmt 😊
LOVE INDIA😊
Nice place
Mumbai has national park also visit SGNP it has thousand of years old Buddhists caves too and it is HUGEEEE do visit you guy's won't regret it.
Next time when you come visit Bengaluru the silcon valley of india and my hometown 🏘
You too, are more important people than the people that you mentioned that you were so impressed with
Please come to Bangladesh 🇧🇩 too we will be happy to have you ❤
Go to other side Navi Mumbai. Its another side of Mumbai. After that do visit Ajanta & Elora Caves its pretty near of Mumbai.
3:15 you have been to Old Delhi and came out unharmed. that is the most dangerous place in India. compared to that almost everywhere in India is quite safe.
Good to know! Glad nothing happened and we had a great time 😊
Your India vlogs are making India seem less and less intimidating to travel to! Appreciate how positive you two stay despite getting approached and talked to in the ways that everyone warns about. Stay safe and happy holidays!
Awe thank you so much for those encouraging words! Yes India can certainly keep a traveler on their toes but overall it's well worth it to experience such a unique place 😊
Wow, your comment suggests India is intimidating, but there are many Indians living in the U.S. and Europe who travel back very often to visit friends and family and love it. Don’t talk as if your fear is the only perspective! And being approached by locals who want to talk to you is a good thing when traveling. Bad encounters can happen in any country. India is filled with friendly, warm, and welcoming people and I hope you can experience it someday! 🇮🇳
Full sports 🇮🇳🙏
Mico looks like an South Indian actress. Her name is jyotika. Do try to search in google. so u may know

So good blogging 😊👍
Glad you enjoyed!
next visit try goa,Leh , Kerala
Guys come after The Coastal Road project of Mumbai is Ready By this year November.
We'll have to check that out!
You did well by saying no for a selfie. Foreigners try to be nice and say yes to it and then one selfie turns into 100s. If I was on a holiday and people asked me for so many selfies I would be pissed too. People are not coming from a wrong place, it's just curiosity cause they rarely see white people but if it ruins your experience it's always good to say straight no than trying to be nice. I know you guys have left India now, hope to see you here again.
🙌
Nice video
In Mumbai local you have 1st class also which is less crowded so try that also.
We'll have to try that next time but we loved the experience we had 😅
You were asking about the people going in boat, so you missed gharapuri ( elephanta caves) one of great sites
We'll have to save it for next time!
Nice young couple in Bombay INDIA
👌
😍🥰🎉
The water is brown not because it is dirty but because it has a lot of minerals in it, basically silt and stuff that makes it fertile, now some might be clean some might not be, but just saying every brown water doesnt mean its dirty, ps love your videos
It seems Mumbai has a completely different vibe from Delhi...is that fair? I'm going to Delhi in April and I'm excited /nervous 😅
It does! I think being by the sea really changes the feel of Mumbai vs. Delhi. We really enjoyed both but quickly learned to lean into the feeling of being overwhelmed and embrace it as part of the experience haha
💯❤❤🤘
