- In this video i show you how to lock minecraft chests in minecraft java with one simple command. I show you how to make a lockable minecraft chest with a minecraft key to unlock the chest with (chest key password). Command: /data merge blocks ~ ~ ~ {Lock:”your lock code”} please note you have to fill in the coords of the block at the ~~~. You can get this by staring at the block. Please watch video to see how to do It 😁.

how would you make it so that when you open that specific chest with the key that the key gets consumed? because this would be perfect for an adventure map
i know this is a late reply but i think this should work
1. /data merge block XYZ {Lock:"LOCK NAME HERE"} - makes a lock
2. /scoreboard objectives add chest_opened minecraft.custom:minecraft.open_chest - makes a scoreboard to use to detect when a chest is opened
3. /scoreboard players add (PLAYER NAME) chest_opened 0
4. /execute as @s run execute if entity @a[scores={chest_opened=1..}] run clear @s (ITEM NAME YOU ARE USING){display:{Name:{"text":"KEY NAME HERE"}}} (put on repeating command block)
5. /scoreboard players reset (PLAYER NAME HERE) chest_opened (put on chain command block, always active, conditional, put it on the little dot where you placed repeating command block)
I think this works, ill test it out
it didnt work, i think you can make it work if you tweak some things but i dont have time for that rn sorry

you can also do it with entities, not blocks, if you want a boss fight like that, you can sometimes make the boss immune to damage, then make it no longer be immune again, so you can damage him. Its quite nice. one is

it wont work for me it says the target block is not a block entity
Can we add more than one lock?
For example, can we make a chest that can be opened with an iron ingot named "Key", at the same time an iron ingot named "Backup Key" can be opened?

what if a player mines the shulker box it will just drop and if you place it will it still be locked?
Hello sadly it doesn’t keep it locked so it can be opened. It would be very useful if you could lock it and make it portable 😀.

i think ur coordinates are wrong or smt, that reply means that the targeted block cant be locked

Hello 😀! Unfortunately java is not able to be played on java as it’s not built for mobile devices.
/data merge blocks ~ ~ ~ {Lock:"your lock code"} is the right code. The other quotation marks dont work atleast for me.

I’m not to sure. The only way I think you could make it unbreakable is if you set your game mode to adventure.
@@undermycap maybe you could make a command block that turns your gamemode to adventure when you enter a certain area
That could work you would have to use some sort of tag like distance to test for it. I think you could do /execute at @a[distance=..10] run game mode adventure in a command block which will set players in a range of 10 to adventure 😀.
