  • A 5 day loop, backcountry camping, canoe trip in the Western portion of Algonquin Park, Ontario. Our trip turns rough in the middle with an intense thunderstorm, heavy rain and windbound conditions. We huddle in our tents to wait out storms and lightening.
The loop begins in Magnetawan Lake, with 1 night on Daisy Lake, 2 nights on Misty Lake and 1 night on Jubilee Lake. This trip took place August 29th - September 2nd 2020 with our good friend Steve and our 1.5 year old dog that loves to jump out of the canoe and go for swims.
Day 4, we make it to Jubilee Lake and find what we thought was the second worst campsite on the lake. We were soaked and tired and had no sun to dry our gear, but ended up loving it. We watched the moon rise that night and the sunrise the following morning. Day 5 we set out from Jubilee through Sawyers, Rain, Casey, Daisy, Acme Pond, and Hambone to the Magnetawan Access Point.

I needed this escape on this cold southern Ontario evening! I’ve seen a bunch of these lakes and it was very nostalgic! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for watching Blake! We also love watching fellow campers trip videos during the bitter cold winter in Ontario! Almost therapeutic?!

Awesome video! In July we went and hiked a 40km loop in the western uplands of Algonquin Park. It was definitely a struggle thats for sure. The lakes were so warm and beautiful in the morning haha! Thank you for documenting your trip :D

Thanks Mark! I bet, hiking is hard work, but the views and relaxing at the end of the day make all the work worth it! 😌

Thanks for taking us along on your trip. Tough to pass up an adventure with a golden retriever included (we have three)! Emma was definitely the star of the show. Also, nice videography of the trip.

Looks like another great day in the backcountry. We enjoyed the video, keep it up. We would love to add a pup to our adventures and videos one day, how do you keep your dog clean?

Thanks so much! Camping with a dog certainly adds another element of entertainment to trips! We kind of don't keep her clean :P we basically just try and keep her out of the water late in the day so she can dry out and then when she's dry, most of the dirt and mud etc just shakes / towels off. We still get some dirt in the tent, but she has a bed spot at the foot and generally stays there.

@@TwoPacksandaPup ah we have always wondered that, we are sure it can be tricky to keep them out of the water! Hahaha
