This should be fun! I remember my high school windows 98 computers were locked down pretty heavy; I worked out if you open up notepad the open a file; You could browse the network and local files, so I deleted the registry and rebuilds itself then I had full admin access! Showed my computer science teacher and was told I should spend my time on my studies!!
Fun fact: Many airplane "Kiosks" (The movie screens) run knoppix under the hood. I sat in my seat one time and saw an automatic update that started running on the seat in front of me.
I will try this for my son, he is a handful. Instead of doing his homeschooling which is on the internet, he is busy browsing and playing games!!! I am so grateful for all this clear information.

i once saw a kiosk, and saw a little blue bar on the bottom of the touchscreen...
After a little bit of touching the edge, i got the start menu to pop up.
Never rely on things being "invisible'"/ "untouchable" 😂

This reminds of when I was younger I managed to bypass the login on library pcs to use them freely. I got banned for 2 weeks after reporting it to them. bruh.

I probably would have compiled a small program that called edge with those arguments. Your solution is more elegant
Be interesting to look at the built in Kioas mode built into Windows too as this is obviously more endorsed by Microsoft therefore more likely CTF worthy than a opensource tool. (Maybe called exam mode either but remember you give it a URL and it basically makes a user and forces a browser to open it)
we had that piece of trash 'security' app Foolproof on the Macs in high school. just hold down space bar would let you turn off extensions thus bypassing FP. later versions, you jst held down shift at start up. MacBugs invoked via Command-Power was the 'leet' way around FP. always irrated the IT techs how we defeated their 'airtight' crap

If it was me who run into a problem where I can't include command line arguments and it had to be an executable, I'd have just quickly made a c++ program that runs the target executable with the correct arguments and compiled it into an executable. In fact, I've kinda already done that once. But your solution is more elegant I guess (though you had to spend 30 minutes on that)

At 8:35 the -kiosk argument file path does not include “\Desktop”. Perhaps that would allow it to work and not have to change it in the XML?

Hey man, great video! I only have one question, if the web in kiosk mode is running on a touch screen, with the app can you block the zoom-in/zoom-out in the web?
You can actually add to the target field of a shortcut command line arguments, and they will be passed to the program! So there is no need to edit the XML file.
And it seems that you didnt set the path the index.html at 13:49 correctly (you forgot to go to the Desktop folder)

When set for Windows kiosk mode, does that mode allow you to create more than one page or a series of slides and click through them via touch screen (when using a touchscreen monitor)? Is there a mode where the computer's touch screen keyboard (with limited characters and command prompts) will come up when the user needs to fill out a form or a form on a webpage I have chosen? If Windows kiosk mode won't allow for something so complex, will it allow for an Apache Open Office Impress file to run as the browser or with the browser? Are such features something that you know how to set up and can/will do via freelance work? Please advise. Thank you.

Is there an easy way to enable kiosk mode with a browser, but with the ability to print to one of many printers and let the end user choose? I'm aware of the --kiosk-print option but that's not going to work in our environment.
I wonder how the app implements the settings for the kiosk, especially disabling ctrl+Alt+del. Set-AssignedAccess cmdlet does not offer this precise customization, windows settings don’t and windows configuration designer and MDM too. I have tried lots of these things myself and wasn’t very successful
I bet you could make a shortcut in windows with the flags you need for edge and then select it in that drop down instead of having to modify the config directly. :)

Why not just use a batch file to execute the command with arguments. Then you wouldn't need to hassle with the configuration file.
also not sure if this was tried already but you might be able to use a shortcut file (.LNK) to add the parameters to and then just point to the shortcut.

@@y.vinitsky6452 Must've overheard that part, however I'm not sure why using a batch file wouldn't work :shrug:. It seems very counter-intuitive to have to manually edit the config file with a text editor, there ought to be a simpler way.
