Located in Manatee County, Holmes Beach is the largest of three Island communities on Anna Maria Island, which is found on the Gulf of Mexico just south of the mouth of Tampa Bay.
Bordered on the north by Anna Maria and on the south by Bradenton Beach, Holmes Beach boasts three miles of gorgeous white and sandy beaches.

I used to walk this Holmes Beach many many times for 12 1/2 years I lived there , all the way to the Sand Bar and back to main Beach area where we would have breakfast outside !! Loved it and miss it!! Stuck here in Michigan!!

my former mother in law had a house (the Seagrape Inn) on Gulf Drive South at 6th, used to vacation there quite frequently. (Couldn't beat the price!) I miss the area so much. Thanks for posting.
as a frequent Myrtle beach vacationer, I wanna to change it up this year for wife and I. I heard about Anna Maria Island being laid back, no high rise resorts. Of course emerald waters and white spongy sands. Whereas Myrtle beach nickname of either "Murky Myrtle" or "Dirty Myrtle" because water on Atlantic Ocean side. We will be coming to AMI, end of August, yea I know hurricane season and hot. Its hot anywhere you go and use to humidity.

Agree I remember the last time I was in those areas when I used to live in the area and was always amazed at the size of their beaches. It's a glimpse of how Florida used to be before it got paved no over.

Beautiful footage of the ocean! Is the water really that blue at Anna Maria Beach? A friend recommended that beach and are thinking about going there in September. Do they have a place where you can rent beach umbrellas or do you have to bring your own?

The public beach area has chairs and umbrellas to rent (at least in 2020 they did)

Wholy crap that's a huge amount of space. I didn't know Florida had any beaches like that left. Everywhere else has either a little strip of sand they call their beach or has been walled off by hotels and condos.
