    The Guitar Education Legend’s Exciting New Signature Model
    Marty Schwartz, or as he’s better known on the Internet, Marty Music, has been the face of guitar education online for the last decade and a half. With four million CZcams subscribers, over two billion video views, and a career longer than most rock bands, Marty has arguably taught more people how to play guitar than anyone else in the world. So as you might expect, Marty knows quite a bit about what features a great guitar should have. His new namesake signature model ES-335 from Epiphone features a smooth-playing 60s SlimTaper™ Rounded C neck profile with an Indian laurel fretboard, small pearloid block inlays, and a Marty Music logo on the back of the headstock. The 5-ply layered maple body is capped with a beautiful AAA-figured maple veneer and is finished in Sixties Cherry. Rock solid tuning stability is ensured by the Grover® 502C Roto-Grip Locking Rotomatic® tuners and Graph Tech® nut, while the other ends of the strings are anchored with an Epiphone LockTone Tune-O-Matic™ bridge and Stop Bar tailpiece. The flexible electronics include Epiphone Alnico Classic PRO™ pickups, each with a push/pull volume control for coil splitting, while the neck pickup’s tone control features a push/pull phase switch. A hardshell case is also included.

      That’s just the N+1 and the N-1 problem in one comment…. What’s the right number of guitars to own? N+1, where N is the number of guitars you currently have. What’s the correct number of beers to have in the fridge? N-1 where N is the numbers of beers currently in the fridge…..(so take one out and drink it, then re-calculate the formula)

    This guitar seems great. It's nice to see that neck is thicken than I thought it would be. Marty's beard and hat logo are probably some of the least offensive signature markings I've seen. Marty's lessons have been helpful since I started playing again. It's nice to have someone like him to go to when I can't figure out something myself.

  • @jfinester

    If Epiphone had asked me which extras I wanted on a 335, I’d have spec’d it out pretty much like this model. Cherry finish? Check. Figured top? Check. Coil splits? Check. Phase switch? Check. Stoptail and block inlays like a ‘64? Check! And with a hardshell case, $900 clams? In this day and age, that’s a great deal. I’m not particularly a Marty fan-I don’t think I’ve ever watched one of his videos-but if you put glasses on his beard-and-hat logo on the headstock, it would look somewhat like me!

      Depends on which Epiphone you mean. I have a 1966 Epiphone Texan that I promise is nicer and more expensive than any Gibson today. Epiphones came before Gibson and were once the best guitars in the world. Then one day Gibson bought Epiphone and instead of keeping the integrity they turned them into budget Gibsons. Always remember The Beatles played Epiphones

    I've had it for 6 months now. It actually is better than the hype, but it took a good 6 months to break in. Now it just sounds like a 74' Gibson 335. I got it from AMS for $750 as a minor blemish buy ( it had a scuff on the case - nothing on the guitar).

    @michaelheller8841 Před rokem +1

    I think the guitar has a good value too but even for the beginner $899 is a bit high to start out with
    IMO. What do you do for the beginner? take out the varitone? package it with an Epi Lite case instead
    to bring the cost down? Not saving a lot. If you add the Burstbucker PUPS to make it better it ends
    up in the JB signature price range, also not good for the beginner. The beginner has to have a parent or
    parents that are well off or saved up for the student to be honest. I think the guitar is more for the guitarist playing for over a year and wants something better.
    Since I have been playing for over 35 years now, I'm not looking for The Marty Signature, I went ahead and
    purchased a brand new Gibson ES-345 in 60s Cherry. I will pick it up this coming Friday and I'm really excited
    about that from playing the ES-335 60s cherry dot in the store. Why the ES-345 instead? The Split Parallelogram fingerboard inlays and extra detail in the binding, The guitar plays the same and sounds the same though LOL
    I always wanted that look more Jazz Box-like style neck. My Gibson Custom Shop R8 and My Fender Custom
    made Strat needed a good friend to talk too lol. I'm good for now till I want a Gibson Double neck, Explorer,
    Firebird, and Flying V lol. Are we ever done buying guitars? Love your channel man.

    • @jfinester
      @jfinester Před rokem

      I was really glad to see Gibson eliminate the stereo wiring and Varitone from the 345. I had a ‘67 in the early ‘70s, used two positions on the Varitone, (off and #2), and had a mono plug installed on the stereo cord. A pain in the 🫏!

    • @carljohnson4691
      @carljohnson4691 Před 8 měsíci

      I recently bought one of these, making my current total about 21 guitars, including Gibson, Fender, Taylor, and Gretsch. This guitar is gig-worthy. Time will tell how well it holds up to that kind of work, but I play almost exclusively at church, these days. I have run it through my old school Peavey Classic and my Fender Champ 12, and it gave me fantastic tones from both. Playability is close to my Gibsons, and better than all my import guitars except my Epiphone Elitist Les Paul (which is amazing). While this is a little high for a beginner, it is an outstanding value and I would be more than comfortable recommending it to an adult beginner, as it would save them money in the long term because they would not have to upgrade for quite a while - if ever. For a child or adolescent beginner, there are several models from Epiphone, Squier, and Ibanez that I would recommend that are more affordable.

    For 899.00, it should come with Gibson Pups. The Alnico pros are ok but Gibson pups much better. I swapped the Alnico pros out on mine with Gibson 57’s. Got a set up and it plays and sound great. Mine is the 335 Pro though. Marty was gifted a Gibson ES 335 so what’s up with the Epiphone?

    I've just found this channel whilst looking for a review of the Epi MS 335, what a great review/demo. However I now seem put off because it apparantly doesn't have a "slim taper " neck as it claims in the literature. Are there any 335's out there that does actually have a slim neck? I'm more used to Fender necks (even though the profile, 12" vs 9.5" is different I can cope with that, but not what I call "chunky" for my smallish hands)

    Who the hell is Marty Shwartz, never heard of him? Epiphone are really scrapping the barrel releasing signature models for a "two bit" nobody guitarist who has no track record of ever having a successful recording career as a solo artist or known member of a successful recording band. Viewers should just buy the standard Epi 335 cherry inspired by model because you are otherwise paying a massive premium for someone who isn't a rock star which is the reason why most people buy signature models. There are no notable upgrades other IMHO than locking tuners (which you can buy and install yourself cheaply) for the extra money other than Shwartz name which isnt a recording artist name at all, its ridiculous IMHO. CZcamsrs are no substitute for bona fide rock stars.

    • @tenniswilliam
      @tenniswilliam Před rokem

      Marty Schwartz is a popular CZcams guitar teacher. Hence he has fostered a lot of interest in guitar especially for beginners and intermediate players. He is a social media influencer. That translates to huge guitar sales. He gets a signature guitar model because that can sell millions of dollars of gear for Epiphone. He makes it easier for players to get better and then they want a new guitar. That is called Guitar Acquisition Syndrome or GAS

    • @rocktorrocks
      @rocktorrocks Před rokem +1

      There are a few upgrades beyond just the locking tuners, you get the coil split/out of phase wiring which would be a hassle to install in a semi-hollow as an after market upgrade since there’s no cavity cover to access the wiring, flame maple veneer which if you look up the regular Epi ES-335 with flame top is worth a $100 premium from the non-flame top version, and a hardshell case is included which is prob worth at least $100. Even if you’re not a fan of Marty, all those added features for a $300 premium seems pretty reasonable.

      I'm not being used to sell a signature guitar so my anonymity is irrelevant, whereas Schwarz anonymity is relevant in this context. He is a "two bit" nobody youtuber. Signature models should be limited to rock stars IMHO who have achieved something notable as a recording artiste. Then at least the premium your paying for that association means something. CZcamsrs are no substitute for rock stars, period. Using Schwarz strikes me as a race to the bottom, because there are so few genuine new young rock stars around these days.
