    This is an excellent video for the beginner! Your style of speaking slowly gives someone a chance to follow along on their camera menu without having to replay segments over and over. Thank you for sharing!

    Excellent. Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed that. Now that I have set it up I have registered those settings to one of the custom dial functions!

    Thanks for the video Kathy, and hello from a fellow Texan. I just swapped from a Sony A7IV to the R6 Mark II with the RF 100-500mm, I followed your video last night and was taking photos of birds at my feeder this morning.

    Very helpful stuff here! I'm new to mirrorless (R6 Mk II) after using DSLRs for 20 years, and since my main interest is bird photography, the information you provided is extremely useful. Thanks for posting!

    I just came across your video while I was looking to find anything to do with this camera as I have been thinking of buying it. It was so helpful to be able to go through the menus to see what is in them - and how they differ, or are similar to, my current camera. I enjoyed the clear and concise way you described everything, thank you!!

      @SkylarkFields thanks for your kind comment. I hope that this helps you get the R6 Mark II set-up and ready to go. It really is a neat camera for birds. Good luck! Let me know how it goes once you get the camera in hand.

    Thanks Kathy. I'm leaning towards this full frame for my wildlife and sports photography. I own the original R which I still like for landscape, portrait work, food, etc. I have the R7 as my crop sensor wildlife and sports body but I like the idea of having a full frame body as well and the R5 and R3 are just more than I need and of course cost more.

      I think you'd be happy with the R6 Mark II. There are some nice new features that make it worth the switch. Hope you like it! I think the R6 Mark II and the R7 make a nice combination of cameras to have in the bag. Thanks for the post!

    I’ve already watched scores of videos on this camera, before it’s even arrived. But now I’m sitting here waiting for the courier to delivery my R6II in a minute. I’m very excited and I’ll spend the morning watching your great videos before I go down to the reserve for my first shooting. Your video style is a refreshing change from all the excitable guys on the other videos. Nice to find you madam 😊

      @hythekent thanks for the super kind words. You have no idea how much they mean to me. I'm so happy your R6ii is on the way. Let me know if there are any questions. Also, have fun photographing at the reserve. I hope the birds are showing off for you!! Best wishes.

    • @KathyAdamsClark
      @KathyAdamsClark  Před měsícem

      I suspect you can save as a Custom Function, @preven2296. I don't use the Custom Functions very much. There are not that many things I photograph that need radically different functions. Most are a change in f/stop or shutter speed but not a lot of menu changes. Thanks for the comment and for supporting my page!

    Thank you Kathy - Just bought my R6II yesterday with the 100-500 lens. The only thing I'm worried about is I am used to a 150-600mm lens on a crop factor camera (7d2), and wondering if the 500mm lens will be enough. What is your thought on a 1.4 extender?

    • @KathyAdamsClark
      @KathyAdamsClark  Před 9 měsíci

      Hello, Robyn, and sorry for the delay in replying. I've been traveling. I love the 1.4x RF extender. I use it all the time with the 100-500mm RF lens. Yes, get it and enjoy. You'll love it! No loss in resolution or quality.

      Carl M, I hope you enjoy the R6ii. I really like it. I haven't had a chance to work with the R8 much. Hope to in the near future. I use the 100-500mm RF lens with a 1.4x extender for birds. It's very light so you might consider it. I use the EX 600 II flash when I need it for birds. Prefer available light and using exposure compensation -- which is so easy with the mirrorless cameras. Thanks!

    quick question, How you change the Quick Control layout? Is it from Customize Quick Control >> Edit layout option or something else?

      Thanks for the question, @abhijeetraut3456 Yes, that's the way I do it. I have not changed much because I don't use the Quick Control screen that much.

    Almost every video like this I watch, no one mentions which position the dial on top is in, as it affects what shows on these menus. Are you in Manual position, P position? I couldn't follow along until I realized the dial on top affects what menus show.

    • @KathyAdamsClark
      @KathyAdamsClark  Před 4 měsíci +2

      That's a good point, @TheChadWork2001. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I never shoot in P and never teach shooting in P. I only use TV, AV, and M. Here's what I say in class: "The engineers at the camera companies assume you don't know how to use f/stop, shutter speed, ISO so they give you the P button. In P, a lot of menus and functions are grayed out or not visible at all. Features you paid for are gone because you're in the P mode. Learn how to shoot in TV, AV, and M so that you have total control of your camera and have all the features you paid for." Hope that helps and thanks for the completely valid question.
