great demo, only one issue with the J-6
there is no way to use automation to change even the limited params of the synth
so come on Roland, in 2022 every hardware or software synth has midi cc to control the synth parameters, give us a firmware update that allows us to do the above.

This is on purpose. If they gave it a decent MIDI implementation it would be like a half-price boutique Juno with a better sequencer and all the chord/arp features.

Please do a video creating a song with J-6 controlling Verselab mv-1 instruments. Also sampling J-6 sounds onto pads to use with MV-1 mfx. Thanks.

Well done dude but I have lots of questions concerning how to use all AIRA COMPACT synths in parallel and what must be done to make it properly. Why because sime funktion coud be out of Control for example TEMPO etc. And it is nothing to see in documents regarding how to use all tgat 4 parts in parallel, isn't it?

    Hello,
    A question for the experts.
*How do I connect devices with built-in sounds
Directly to a control keyboard that has no sounds?
*Which cables do I need? And what is the friend why?
    - I have: launchkey 25 mk Novation control keyboard
and want to connect it for example:
    to CIRCUIT TRACKS.
Or - for the Roland device / Roland Aira S-1
    and use their sounds.
    Many thanks to the helpers

If the Novation has a standard 5-pin MIDI DIN out then you plug a standard MIDI cable into that. The other end will require a Type A MIDI to TRS adapter plugged into it, and the TRS plug goes into the MIDI in connector on the S-1. The same for the Circuit Tracks if it also has a standard MIDI out connector. Then ensure whichever controller you use is sending MIDI on channel 3 as the S-1 defaults to that channel.

I'd love to be able to separate the sound engine from the sequencer patterns on the J6. I like to use multiple patterns for a performance, but have to set all the sound characteristics to match both pattern banks. There's an example in my latest uploaded jam, "satalite drop" where the volume spikes because of my issue.

For some reason my J6 USB-MIDI won't put midi out to my daw (logic x). Are there any special tricks? Regular TRS Jack MIDI in and out works fine, but the usb only receives MIDI IN. I have reset to factory several times and changes all the settings back and forth. Appreciate any tips! Yes I am using the cable supplied with the unit and yes am connected directly to my mac not a USB hub.

    • @RaquelFoster
      @RaquelFoster Před rokem +2

I dunno. I think the USB MIDI on the J-6 is just flaky af. Mine used to work with a MIDI keyboard plugged in via USB, and it doesn't anymore, even after a factory reset.

Man, how could I record each instrument on Ableton Live to Roland Aria T-8 ? I can't record all sounds from T-8 to Ableton, only the midi pattern is displayed on Ableton without music... please help!

What a waste of AIRA technology. Make processors that can simulate 6..8 voices and remake the "hipster" line of retro synth in a usable format. These boutique stuff is unusable and needs two more voices at least.

@@isocarboxazid What YOU’RE actually saying is, you’re not sophisticated enough to use extended chords … 6 voices should indeed be the minimum on the J-6 …

Any decent player needs 6 note polyphony, for basic extended chords and a melody. Stop hampering these things with just 4-notes, Roland.
